I feel sorry for them. But not having mineral resources is an excuse African countries should stop using.40% of all Samsung phones used worldwide are made in Vietnam.Look at what Taiwan has been doing with Foxconn for years.Kenya,Nigeria and South Africa should be doing same.
it should not be an excuse truly, but we're not technologically advanced like other continents.

one of the reasons agricultural products contributes to our GDP is because we're not yet advanced, advanced countries produce foods for consumption and only a small, very little fraction of it is used for generating revenues.

Israel doesn't have any mineral resources, they are surrounded by enemies (Egypt,Jordan,Palestine,Syria and Lebanon) and they're always at war. they built themselves through technological innovations because they fight constant wars(fact!). they had no choice but to defend themselves, in order to achieve that, they had to build many stuffs that lead to their technological revolution.today, Israel is one of the most technological advanced country, Israel is just about 8m!, if Israel was an African country, it'll just be like reading a Tom Clancy's novel. it'll be a long, forgotten story.

Japan on the other hand is the most technology advanced country. why? they were protected by the US after d Hiroshima and Nagasaki disaster. they are this very wise kind of people, they invested in technology while the US took care of the rest of their problems for them until late 70s, by then, they were far better than even d US on technology.

what I'm driving at is that, we still need all these God-sent gifts for ourselves, the world is in technological age and Africa is still struggling to be in d industrial age. SMH.

the developed nations used their own mineral resources too,we're still crawling and we must use it efficiently.

oh...I've written so much and I've not even talked about the Asian tigers talkless of the almighty US.

Facts dont lie cheesy

Despite its strong fundamentals, oil-rich Nigeria has been hobbled by inadequate power supply, lack of infrastructure, delays in the passage of legislative reforms, an inefficient property registration system, restrictive trade policies, an inconsistent regulatory environment, a slow and ineffective judicial system, unreliable dispute resolution mechanisms, insecurity, and pervasive corruption. Regulatory constraints and security risks have limited new investment in oil and natural gas, and Nigeria's oil production has contracted every year since 2012.

Nigeria is a giant not because of its oil or resources but because of its large population, uniqueness among other countries, experience, Diverse culture, strong spirit of Leadership without relenting, able men and women, ability to undergo series of challenges and hard times. The issues of Nigeria and politics of Nigeria cannot be understood by a non citizen, many countries plus even America cannot undermine Nigeria just like that.Someone should think of it,despite all the challenges we are facing, there are still many positive things going on in the country.
Its the Nigerian spirit, no African country or any country can beat that God given spirit. Kenyans and other countries reading this should think of this very well.

Mention me when you do.
Thanks.
here is how Nigeria press misinform Nigerians through their mischievous articles
DEALING WITH YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
MONDAY EDITORIAL

There is urgent need to realign the nation’s educational curriculum with the needs of the economy
Unless the relevant authorities do something critical and urgent about the astronomical rise in unemployment levels, particularly among the youths, Nigeria may be sitting on a time bomb waiting to explode. Figures available paint a dire situation of millions of Nigerian youths roaming the streets looking for work but finding none. The situation is compounded by the economic recession that has necessitated the sacking, by many private enterprises, of their staff in the name of rationalisation.
The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its latest report confirmed a consistent pattern of worsening unemployment in the country, rising from 9.9 per cent in 2015 to 19.70 per cent in the last quarter of 2016. That 19.70 per cent of the nation’s labour force is idle is bad enough.
There was at no time Nigeria unemployment rate hit 19%, it is currently 14.2% the writer mischievously lump unemployment rate and underemployment rate together then tag it unemployment rate
But worse and extremely dangerous is the fact that more than 50 per cent of that army of idle citizens is peopled by those between the ages of 15 and 35. When broken down, the NBS figures revealed quite clearly that out of a total youth labour force of 38.2 million, representing 48.7 per cent of the total labour force of 78.48 million in Nigeria, some 15.2 million of them were either unemployed or underemployed in the first quarter of 2016. This represented a youth unemployment rate of 42.24 per cent.
The writer also mischievously lump youth unemployment and youth underemployment together and call it youth unemployment and arrived at 42.2% youth unemployment. Note, youth unemployment rate is at 25.2%

The most disturbing part is that the figures revealed a clear pattern of failure of government policies aimed at dealing with the challenge. Meanwhile, there is no evidence yet that as the country’s economy approaches depression, the unemployment situation will improve. Worse still is that there is no evidence to suggest that the authorities in Abuja and the 36 states appreciate the gravity of the situation nor are there plans to deal with it.
then blabla...I have to cut it short.
Youth unemployment is define as the unemployment of young people, defined by the United Nations as 15–24 years old. An unemployed person is defined as someone who does not have a job but is actively seeking work.
Employment Rate 85.80
Unemployment Rate 14.20%
Youth Unemployment Rate 25.20%
Underemployment Rate 19.7%
Youth underemployment 42.2%

hehehe....despite d fact that we don't have their time.

the only time we're always present on the thread was when about 3 or 4 countries were bashing us from all angles at the same time.

when these countries left, we(Nigerians) left too, but this our friends were still showcasing their ignorance;we ignored. when we had their time, it was like a mixture gone wrong in an alchemist's lab. they immediately felt naked like a first timer prostitute that is about to take her first three-some anal.

we landed on them and they must be feeling as if yokozuna landed on buhari.

Still based on previous data, 70% doesn't seem realistic to me though but they can have the final say on that, doesn't change anything.
