Hello people. Been ages here, and it's good to see this thread has come a long way . I tried to read the over 70 pages of this part (and the endings of the last), and one thing I noticed is that people tend to want to apply to only "reputable schools" in "big cities". This in my opinion is the wrong way to go. I know many people in big cities who stay frustrated for a different variety of reasons. I'll use myself as an example here: I got admitted into a really small city (about 240k), in a Fachhochschule, (double trouble). But even with less than 20 words in my vocabulary on arrival, I was able to survive, work (and earn more than enough to survive and look good), cope with studies, learn German, learn programming, etc. Now I don't live there anymore, but knowing my experience so far, if I had the chance to choose again, I'd still choose the "unreputable university" in the same small city. Although I've now moved to a much bigger city (Berlin, which I really hate), the experience gathered along the way is the only reason (more or less) I'm even here in the first place. What am I trying to say? If you want to study in a TU9 school, and/or top 10 in Europe, then perfect. If you want to study only in cities with more than a mil people, then fine as well, but I've seen too many people slide into depression when admissions for these dream schools don't drop (or visa issuance gets delayed), so broaden your net and apply to any school/city you wish and with determination, you'll go places you never thought possible... Just my 2€ on a cold Sunday morning Have a happy Weekend folks And if you're coming to Berlin this winter, feel free to shoot me a PM 18 Likes 1 Share |

Based on popular demand.... ESSENTIALS for traveling this Winter Session. N/B: 1 suitcase & a backpack (for guys who like traveling light) 2 suitcase (medium size). Standard to fit in all your life for a long stay. 3 suitcase? Too much Airlines are not smiling when it comes to excess baggage fee & exceeding about 20kg per luggage 1. BASICS Have this in your backpack or carry-on.... Passport, Original documents, Cash(euro), Laptop/smartphone and a warm jacket. Hold on to these items everywhere you go & all times as if your life depends on it, Why? Because it does!!! 2. What goes in the suitcase CLOTHES; winter jackets, hoodies, sweaters, gloves, headwarmer, socks, tops, jeans (invest in good ones), Ankara wear (to show them you be 9ja), other accessories etc. Carry enough clothes coz they're expensive for new comers unless you want turn your brain into abokifx exchange rate. For ladies don't forget wigs (esp braided wigs, weavons, relaxers, etc, you'll thank me later on the 1st time you ever visit a saloon in Germany. FOOD: Gari, dryfish, crayfish, egusi, ogbono, dry leafs and uncommon local ingredients your village people dey chop. (palm oil is prohibited) Accessories: buy a universal plug or charger with 2 pin for your laptops/phone that's the standard for Germany. And if you're a movie/music freak like me then you better download all your favorites into a flash coz downloading from what I hear is illegal in Germany but streaming is allowed though. If your family/friends ask you to bring lots of food & other stuffs for them, don't be shy to ask for cash for the extra baggage but if you know you'll be squatting in their house you better comply oo so you don't turn homeless on your first night in Germany. Pls feel free to add other useful tips and comments #mydreamcometrue 16 Likes 4 Shares |

Hello here, Please I just recently discovered my primary school certificate has a shortened version of my name "Busayomi" instead of "oluwabusayomi". Will this affect anything concerning my visa? I have my visa interview on September 26. Please I need answers before then and if there's anything I can do. I will appreciate any info I can get. Thanks in advance. |

ninered:I suppose you are a lady. Don't forget to bring along your hair products and braiding extensions. If you are the type that wear wigs, bring them too. Braiding extensions and wigs are costly here. Even till now I still rely on those ones sent from naija 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone, please a few more questions 1. I applied to one of the public health insurance companies (BARMER) for health insurance and was given a sort of preliminary insurance certificate to use for enrollment. Would this be accepted by the German Consulate here when AM drops or I will still have to get travel insurance from mansard and Co? 2. For people that used Ensure insurance, how did you apply for it? I have checked their website but can't see the link for such Thanks |

okpmoses:We can't do this for you. It is your duty to email your prospective school on the type of proficiency exams needed or if possible exemptions. - Email your program coordinator or the international office for enquiries - Read your program details carefully. I am sure you will get your answers. 1 Like |
