After his son's prosecution, Gerald became very worried . He had been thinking about all the troubles he had brought upon his son, the whole plan of scamming Alex was his idea but then his son became the scapegoat. He has been with his friend after the case, he didn't had much money with him so he begged Ivan his long time friend to provide accommodation for him at his place for the time been and Ivan didn't had any problem with that because back in the days, Gerald had always been a good friend to him and giving him a place to stay was the least he could do to him.

"My life has been a living hell ever since she left me, I have gone through thick and thin to be alive today. From escaping the prison cells to getting in the hands of the police and so on. Now my one and true son is behind bars suffering for a crime I am supposed to be punished for. What kind of a father am I ? What kind of a man will watch his son suffer the cold of the prison while he walks freely in the streets ? .No I have to do something to save my son" Gerald grumbled wavering back and forth the one room apartment.

"Hey man whats up ? Are you still worried about your son ? come on cheer up" Ivan said offering a cup of drink to Gerald.

"Cheer up ? Did I hear you say cheer up ? So I should cheer up while my son is there suffering, what kind of a father will celebrate when such happens to his child ? Well I don't blame you because you never have a test of what it means to be a father." Gerald said sitting on the bed.

"Hey dude am sorry, I don't mean no harm. I am trying to say is that you should try not to be too hard on yourself. I am worried as well because what affects you affects me equally but I think we should relax before looking for a strategy just like old times. You haven't eaten nor drank anything since you landed here two days ago. Do you want to kill yourself ?" Ivan cautioned his friend.

"Death is little compare to how I feel now. I won't eat anything till I get a way and if I don't , I ll gladly die" Gerald insisted.

After a minute of thoughts, Ivan seemed to have came up with a bright idea.
" How about Stella , I mean Stella Nicolas ? don't you think she could be of help in this situation ?" Ivan said.

Gerald nodded his head continuously like he just heard the best news of his life.
"Yes there you go. That is a very bright one from you. I never even thought towards that direction but I think she will be of great help" He said with relief.


"Okay, since we have a way now, can you please eat something ? " Ivan pleaded.

"Sure, am famished" Gerald admitted.


Gerald and Ivan were friends since high school days and up till college before Ivan was locked in prison for some years. It had not been up to a year that he returned before they reunited with Gerald. Every history between Gerald and Stella is in his brain and he could narrate without skipping an episode.



*************** Alex became a very happy man after his money WS refunded to him. He couldn't stop being grateful to Hakeem but always seeming to forget Edward as if Hakeem single handedly did it. In one of a family discussion, Alex decided to address his family regarding what happened.
"Here we are again happy like old times, everyone knows about the misfortune that almost befall us. Thinks like this happens everywhere and to anyone. We are just lucky that it wasn't worse as the criminals were caught all thanks to Hakeem Kroos. If only there is a way to reward him, I will have done that but he has a lot at his nose already. That boy is really a man, he is the type of man every father will want to have as an In-law." Alex addressed.


"But Alex,if I heard clearly what the officers said,Hakeem was not the only guy involved in that. Edward his friend also played a great role. Why don't you appreciate them together and try not to be sentimental. Please what you had with Edward was in the past and I thought this help he did to you will make you change your perception about him but its obvious that am wrong." Mrs Alex slammed.


"Vera please take your time. What is wrong in trying to hail Hakeem for a job well done ? Please don't spoil my moment with some villain name as Edward. You and I knows that every resource that was involve in their mission came from Hakeem. Your Edward barely has enough money to buy himself shoes not to talk of fueling a car. As far I am concerned,Hakeem is my hero and Edward is his escort." Alex slammed back.

Sharon couldn't take any of the insults her dad was showering on her boyfriend, her face was flowing with streams of tears. She thought of saying something at first but later opted for silence to save her strength. She ran away out of her parent's presence into her apartment.

"Alex please stop hurting your daughter, she is really affected by what you said. Even if you are mad at Edward , I insist that this is not the same situation as before. Please rethink before you drive your daughter crazy." Elizabeth pleaded.

"Alright I will think about it but you have to advise your daughter and removed that spell in her eyes before she completely destroys herself." Alex said remorseless.

It was a Monday morning and that meant the kick off to a busy day for Gerald. He had concluded to get his son out of prison either by hook or crook. Mrs Nicolas seemed to be his main source of help and he was ready to get her bended to his wishes coercively if it had to get to that.

He was putting on his shoes when Ivan walked into the room.
"Hey man, ready ?" Ivan asked him.

"Could never be more ready dude. My son needs to be free and each single second I waste means torture on him" He said with a tight face.

Ivan nodded and added. "Should I accompany you ? ".
" Man you ve done enough for me that i owe you a lot of thanks for. I know we have been accomplices in our dealings and we have gone through hell together but man this is different, it's about my family and I want to handle it alone" Gerald declared.

Ivan shook his head in agreement to Gerald's verdict.
"Take this, I think you will need it for cover and remember one thing. Stay alive" He said handling a pistol to Gerald.

The two friends shook their hands and hugged before Gerald left. Ivan stared at him till he got out of the room. He had a bad feeling about his friends mission but didn't know why.

Edward left for home after handling Khalifa to Alex. He was went home and spent some days with his mum.
Hakeem on the other hand also went home but had a mission to execute at home. He had pretended to be cool with it during their mission with Edward but it has always been on his mind. He reached home and as usual, his mum was at the office and his dad was abroad.
"This is it, different days, different from weeks,different months but still same boring and mute home. I guess this is how they want our lives to be: To live without the joy of togetherness as one whole family. Its always me and Barry then the maids and the lunatics called gatemen. Am sick and tired of taking care of this home" He said smashing the glass cup from which he had a drink to the wall.

That had been the life at Hakeem's family. Barry barely knows their dad as he is always engaged in one business trip or the other. Their mum is always busy with her business also. The two kids were raised by nannies and maids, they have everything they need for their lives but that parental love and care was missing and Hakeem didn't like it a bit. He wasn't worried much about himself but Barry who was barely twelve.

Hakeem hit his hands on the glass door with fury and his hands were now bleeding. He didn't even care about that. He thought of calling his dad but decided against it considering his state of mind then,he would have been too hard on his dad.
"Why won't someone impersonate when you don't even show up in the country." He screamed.

Bella had been busy with office work at her dad's company, she had taken a job there to reduce the effect of the strike that was ongoing in schools under the state government. She was at the office one afternoon and immediately , Hakeem's thoughts crossed her mind she decided to turn off the computer before her and began to think about him.
"But this guy is something else oo, so he is the son of Chief Kroos and never saw it right to inform me about it. Am his girlfriend and deserve to know about his family and get acquainted with them. But wait oo, I haven't even visited him even once since we began dating. " She kept reminiscing and alas came up with a conclusion to give him a visit and spend the weekend with her love.

"Hi Stella, am at our usual meeting point meet me there." Gerald announced to Mrs Nicolas and hung up.He waited for some minutes before she arrived in a private car this time around without the guards around her.

"Welcome love,I guess you have learnt how to keep to time a feat you never had" He said .

"Whatever" She replied and continued. "I won't have any talk with you in this disgusting environment. Why don't you hop in while a give you a treat in one of the restaurants just like old times"

Gerald gave her a wicked and suspicious look.
"Just like old times ? Well I think it can't and will never be like old times ever since you betrayed my trust. I don't trust you anymore." He relied.
"You should my love." She said.

"I can't ride with you if you will drive. How am I sure you don't have an evil plan and will easy execute it when you drive" He said distrustfully.

"If I had a plan,this would have been the perfect place to execute it. But if you think you can't trust me, fine I ll just take my leave" She said.

Gerald thought of the risk he would take if he gets into that car. He never trusted Stella one bit and knew she had always wanted him dead to conceal her evil deeds but when he thought of his son, he concluded that it was worth all the risk. "Even I die in, I know that I die trying to save you son" He muttered.

"OK let's ride" He said to Mrs Nicolas.

"Good choice" She said.

They drove through streets and finally came to a stop. Mrs Nicolas led the way in while Gerald followed cautiously.

"They grab sits in the open around a table and Stella ordered.
Food was brought and they devour it glimpsing on each other.
Gerald flashback to the past and all the memories came back to his mind. He thought of how Stella would treat him when they went for outings, his favourite dish etc. His countenance changed when he remembered how their love story ended and he stopped eating immediately concluded it was time for businesses.

" Enough of the entertainment, thanks for the treat though." He said cleaning his mouth with the towel.
"Don't you think its too early to say enough ? I missed you my love." She said.

"Enough I say" He said in a thunderous tone.

"OK am listening" She replied.

"I need your help" He said.

Mrs Nicolas laughed mockingly at Gerald.
"Look who needs my help, the almighty Gerald. Hahaha" She burst into laughter again.

"Am not here to watch a display of your dentition LovePeddler. I am serious and you of all people should know how I am when am serious" He said with a scold.

"Well,well,well... how can I be of help to you Gerald?" She said not threatened.

"You know as well as I do that my son is in prison and in immense torture and labour. If I don't bail him out, he will be there for the next five years and you know what that means" He explained.

After listening to Gerald, she clapped her hands and said. "So how do I come into the picture ?"

"I need you to bail him out. I will forgive and forget all the evils you have done to me and people I know. I won't hold any grudge against you and your family, you will be a free bird" He said.

"Hmmm nice idea from you. After our separation, I thought you lost all your intelligence but I was wrong,you just said the most brilliant thing I have heard." She said.

"But I think their is a problem and I know you know it" She said and paused.

"What problem could that be ?" Gerald asked in pretended ignorance.

"Elizabeth and her son are still roaming about the streets. You know that as long as they are out there, my happiness will never be completed." She said.

Just the point Gerald never wanted to hear.
"Forget them, they are happy with their lives wherever they are and am not sure Elizabeth would want anything to do with Nicolas again. Not after what happened to her." Gerald said.

"Hmmm just as I expected.I know that it won't be easy when it gets to Elizabeth and what I don't understand is why the almighty Gerald is so sympathetic and when he developed a conscience." She said.

"I am bad but I don't harm innocent people and Elizabeth is innocent. If only you will let her be, there won't be any complications." Gerald tried convincing her.

"Well I guess you don't want to see your son free again and I can't help but wonder what sort of a father will watch his son suffer the cold and piercing breeze of the prison cells." Mrs Nicolas said.

"I see that you are too stubborn and persistent. I thought you have learnt your lessons but obviously I am wrong. Since you don't want it amicably, I will give it to you the hard way" Gerald threatened.

Mrs Nicolas chuckled "Give it to me the hard way while your son rots in jail"

"I hope you don't end up joining him" Gerald said straight to her face and left.

Mrs Nicolas sat for some time thinking.
"Let's see if you live to expose me idiot" she said with a smile.
Gunshots were heard from outside the restaurant minutes after Gerald went out.

"See you in hell my lovely Gerald" She said.

Mrs Nicolas walked out of the restaurant with an expression that denoted satisfaction. She was filled with inward smiles and joy as she approached the door that led out.
Her facial expression changed when she got out of the restaurant. She couldn't believe her sight as she walked closer to the two dead men that laid in the open.
"What ? How did this managed to have happened ?. This guys are really idiots." She said and rushed out to escape any eyes.
She went straight into her car and zoomed off with great pace. Her mind kept beating with much power on her chest.
"How could he have escaped ?" Was the question she kept asking herself. She knew that the die will be cast soon and as it was,she was out of options.


Gerald stagger there his way to an uncompleted building nearby. He was shot in his arm but he could still manage. He has been shot several times before in more delicate parts of the body so a shot in the arm was nothing he couldn't
handle.
"Killing me won't be this easy I thought you have known by now. I see that you really need war and war you shall have." He muttered to himself in fury.
He spent the night there.

It was a very beautiful morning for Bella. She couldn't sleep in the previous night because she couldn't help but get anxious about visiting her boyfriend. She woke up, brushed and had breakfast. She began to arrange all she will need for her trip singing a very romantic and highly emotional song. She remembered she had not greeted her parents and went straight to their room.
"Hi dad and mum,wake up its morning already" She said pushing the door open.

"Oh, my angel is awake before me today" Nicolas said cleaning his face to send off any sleep in his eyes.

"Dad good morning" She greeted.

"Morning my love, come here and give daddy a hug" Mr Nicolas said.

They hugged and he gave her a kissed on her forehead.
"My daughter you are happy today. Tell me what's the secret behind that happy heart ?"

Mr Nicolas didn't heard any response from Bella and went he look to see what was wrong, her attention was all on her mum who didn't even say anything with her eyes widely opened.

"Mum are you alright ?" Bella enquired.

She quickly sat up and gave out a fake smile to suspend any suspicious questions.
"My dear am fine ,I guess I didn't wanted to interrupt father and daughter's beautiful morning" She said.

"Mum, you are part of the family you should join us" Bella said.

The parents played with their daughter but as usual Mrs Nicolas gets knocked out of the play at intervals by her thoughts.

"Mum, dad I want to visit a friend and I hope to spend the weekend there" Bella announced .

The parents stared at each other and Mrs Nicolas seemed to be in total disagreement to that as she look forward to spend her last happy days with her daughter.
"Baby ,why today now ? don't you think its too quick " She said.
"My love I think we should let her go. She has been with us for the past seven months I think she has tried a lot. Besides we would have the whole house to ourselves to enjoy our love" Mr Nicolas said and wink at his wife.

"Dad I hope you know am still here " Bella said and ran to her dad's arm whispering "I love you dad" in his ears leaving her mum to her woeful fears.

It was afternoon and Bella was ready to go. Her mum called her for a talk and Bella thought it was one of her sermons to keep herself but it was different.
Mrs Nicolas held her on her chicks looking straight into her eyes.
"Listen to me my love. I want you to known that I love you and everything I do is for you and your dad" Mrs Nicolas said.

"Hey mum quit saying that already. Dad and I already knows that and we will do anything to keep you with us" Bella said.

"My daughter time shall come when you will understand what I mean but for now know it in your mind that I love you" She said and gave her daughter a hug hiding moist face from her daughter's view.


Minutes after the talk, Bella bade her parents goodbye and zoomed off with the driver. She stared at them through the mirror till she couldn't see them again.
Her mother's words remained a mystery to her that she couldn't unravel.
"Well whatever it is, I hope she isn't in trouble" She concluded her thoughts as she brought back her mind to her journey
