At least they have shaken the chains monopoly held by dstv/gotv in Nigeria

Yes, it is a bit disappointing of TStv for not being able to keep to promises made on the issue of sale of their decoders..

With Nov 1 around the corner, TSTv has however landed and it has been transmitting Free To Air, FTA, until their decoders get fully circulated. Some say such a period may last up to a month
For now, there are up to 40 channels. They are so cool. Some of the pictures from the various channels are attached

So folks, why not enjoy FTA - free to air - while it lasts: even if they are unable to keep to the promised date of rolling out of their decoders

Get a Strong decoder, especially that with HD facility and forget about renewal of DSTv subscription

Their over 40 channels span across
NEWS
SPORTS
MOVIES
DOCUMENTARY
RELIGIOUS
LOCAL CONTENTS: Hausa, Ibo & Yoruba films

Let us turn their present disappointment into a blessing as we enjoy their open channels freely until they become scrambled - whenever they are able to get the decoders into the market

Pls, even though u have issues with me doesn't mean you should attack my personality. I never for once used the word scam to describe TSTV. I however still maintain that they are an unserious company, who's modus operandi equates to the same way our Nigerian politicians swindle us with mouth watering promises to keep our appetites wet, while pay day is extended. Around 2014, the government promised made in Nigerian cars with investments from Nissan,Peugeot, and Toyota, this was followed by massive applaud and celebration from the easily decieved populace . They said by 2017 Civil servants will be driving these cars at an affordable rate, as the year winds up with the earlier promise failed, they then promise Solar cars by 2018. How does this patterning differ from TSTV, who kept us expectant since July, did a bogus launch, yet haven't set up a solid structure yet? Kwese TV is out there and in my opinion are the real competitors with DSTv, yet they make no noise. Infact if Kwese TV can partner with Bein sports then it is finished. God bless those who understand.

Afterthought: It won't be much of a surprise if there is no structure or plan for the 20gig free data, in fact maybe that's why they are yet to resume operations. Don't be deceived.

So tstv still haven't gotten their shit together. Well we are waiting patiently, like I said before I am not expecting too much, if they come out to be the Messiah then all good we all smile. If they turn out like APC.. well it's not the first time.

Meanwhile my phone rang yesterday and it was lady from DStv. She told me they have an offer for me, I said shoot. She said I should upgrade to DStv family for N3,800 and I will be offered 3 sports channels for free (Supersports 3,5 and 7) to watch all matches for 1 month. I said for real? She said yes. Normally I do 1,900 subscription, but this last month I decided to do the compact plus for 10k to watch all matches. I told her I'm already on compact plus and she said if I pay 3,800 the compact plus will be paused until the 3,800 gets exhausted then it will kick back in. Hmmm, are DStv already feeling the pressure of tstv?

no they are not. no pressure at all yet. there's nothing to compete against.

even kwese sef is not making a dent at all.

they are simply trying to remove their customer's incentive for switching immediately.

for example, with this offer you have no need to switch for the next 2 months.

that way they can retain many customers beyond the initial gragra period of Tstv and Kwese.

it actually shows they learnt from the HiTV era. that time many people switched immediately. it was only after like 6 months some started subscribing again to cover the entertainment channels shortfall.

the landscape will be much more interesting next year though, after 6 months a clear picture will emerge on the subscriber base. They just need to survive till Tstv start increasing prices

by that time they'll be offering 2 months for 1 month promo subscription.

Thing is, the adoption pricing strategy of Tstv will help them get low income people, and Gotv/Startimes subscribers. What is not sure is whether Dstv customers will switch in numbers.

It's a win for the consumers regardless.

U are right. It's a win win for consumers. I am not ditching my DStv (at least not yet), they are the most advanced pay the in Nigeria especially with the explora. Expensive though no doubt. But u are right, I don't think core DStv subscribers will switch to tstv immediately, their initial Target would be gotv and startimes subscribers. And also viewing centers How they perform in the next 6 months will
0determine if they can win the competition or not. As for me I'll do the 3,800, enjoy my football, and then I still have like 3 weeks left on my compact plus so i am covered for the next 2 months. By that time I would know where tstv stands.

Oh lest I forget, paytv is not all about football... The quality of contents matters a lot and that is one of the reasons hitv failed. I wish tstv the best.
