You dey type 'lol', you con dey complain se I dey type 'k', Oya coman collect your full 'okay' oo!
They're two different things. Lol is long, so writing it the way it's written is waste of time during chat. K on the other hand can be written as OK and this is less annoying.

Some peeps actually overreact. I see no reason why someone I'm replying very fast and with a lotta text should complain specifically about my use of 'k' even when it is evident that I'm very interested in the convo. Is it that the person is too big to get a 'k' or what? undecided Case becomes worse when the person types 'tho' angry
in case I'd like to give you a contract and we're having an online convo abt it, consider yourself fired the moment you reply me with such things as "K" , "nope" "yh".. It signifies childishness and gives an impression the person is an unserious fellow..

People who use "K" are either not interested in the convo or not that intelligent and they result in monosyllabic. I've studied this.

There's a girl that always chat me up first, she also ask questions alot but she make use of "K" most time(although she use "okay" sometimes), I usually always get annoyed but when I see she's always interested in chatting, I just ignore the "K" stuff, I assume it's her habit.

In conclusion, like I said up there, people who use "K" are either not interested in the convo or not intelligent to type words or compose sentences, in addition some are just being lazy or it's just an habit.
Yes, it's sometimes shows weak intelligence especially when one is expecting a coincise reply to what one just massage and you write OKK... Gosh! It give headache and girls don't know that. But if you are inlove, it can't be annoying cos you will keep pestering like a father to a toddler...

A typical chat with an average Nigerian girl...

Girl: I
Guy: Hello dear. How did your day go?
Girl: Fyn
Guy: Oh. That's good to know? You wanna tell me about it?
Girl: Nah
Guy: What's the matter?
Girl: Lol...Nufin
Guy: Anyway, since you didnt ask me how my day went, I'll keep it to myself.
Girl: K
Guy: If you weren't in the mood to chat, why did you message me then?
Girl: Wateva

K is a letter.. Not a fvcking acronym or short form of okay. There is no way in the gadamn dictionary it was stated that K is a short form for okay.. And as such is silly to use it in conversations.

I've actually got a friend making research to confirm if the use of 'k' in convos truly signifies lack of interest in the convo.
She strongly believes the use of 'k's is viewed as offensive irrespective of the gender of the user. I shared my views that the current trend of complaints on use of 'k' is from girls who feel that the precious attention they give should get a better than a 'k'(I sure know my views were biased grin wink cheesy). For me, I see no reason why a person that uses short forms like 'lol','btw','tho' should complain about the use of 'k' since it saves typing time (laziness factor) .
I'd love to know your thoughts on this.

you're just realizing this obvious fact? Thats why its my favorite alphabet in the first place

The use of "K" in a conversation doesn't necessarily mean lack of interest. "K" is short form of "Okay" which simply means; I agree to what you said, and which may be preceded with other words as the conversation proceeds. But in a situation you perceive lack of interest to be the case then I assume the person isn't interested in having a conversation which could be due to some reasons beyond your knowledge.

'K' signifies disrespect, immaturity, childishness and low intellectual capacity. In truth, some guys may be boring and the best way to kill their morale is to respond with 'K' till he gets the message. However, some girls can be so dumb. They would say Hi everyday first and expect you to carry on the conversation. All they do is reply in monosyllabic and the ever-annoying 'K'.

I've made it a personal vendetta never to message anyone (boy or girl) who replies me with 'K' more than 3 times.

wow 3 times? you are a very kind and patient person
Usually if someone replies me twice with a monosyllabic word, i will end the conversation, except its a very old friend. If someone replies me with "K" just once, i will roast them on the spot.

Using "k" instead of "OK" or "okay" is simply irritating and annoyingly offensive. I detest it with passion. I hate chatting with me with shorthand. It simply reduces intelligence, personality and speaks volume of the kind of a person the chatter is.

Aside being a language teacher, I have been forced on countless occasions to correct, chide and rebuke people who are unrepentant and ever annoying even when corrected. Little wonder many graduates cannot compose correct simple sentences.

Always coming up with their idioctic "English is not my mother tongue" excuse. This makes one never to cease to wonder if such persons have really let the school to pass through them. There are simply ill-literate or literate but uneducated.

Our ladies have to change their orientation and learn conversation skills. This behaviour is more prominent among them. Why will a girl chat you up first and the next thing is K, Fyn, Nthn?

They annoy you on two fronts. One. She initiated a conversation but is now looking up to you to move it. Why start a dialogue when you have nothing to say?. Two. The few response she gives are in shorthand.

You're even waiting for three times? I don't even chat with people who use shorthand. Like I always tell such people, if I'm going to type the normal way for you, that gesture should be reciprocated. And for those who chat shorthand, such as; k, u, sumtin, e.t.c..
I hope the time they would've used to type correctly, made a change in their lives.

Come on, why do you have to be so uptight?

It's okay if you want to type the proper way but chatting is informal--something people do to unwind so need to go all head-mistressy on a person just coz they type in a certain way.

Life is not that serious.

Honestly, it'll become part of you and you're going to have difficulties with your spellings as time goes on.

It's heartwarming to know that someone else also types in full, I thought I'm the only one.

Typing in full with my touch pal keyboard and it's prediction switched on makes chatting a worthwhile experience, and it has greatly improved my typing speed (I'm yet to see any faster than me in typing with phone) as well as my spelling accuracy

One chick who is still an acquaintance now doesn't use k, but she's fond of replying ''Lolz'' to any funny thing I say during the chat without adding a follow up, and once I see that, I don't bother with the chat for that day again

I so hate it when girls lack Basic creativity During chats,

If she's going to Lolz me, then I expect her to add a rejoinder to it to keep the chat alive and interesting

Exactly, I don't have much problems with k, Lol, Lolz and rest of them monosyllables, but when she fails to add a rejoinder, that chat for that day is dead and buried
