My answer to the thread is that we celebrate Christmas, but we understand it differently. It is a time at the end of the year when we get to meet with the friends and family members and lovers that we don’t usually get to meet, and have a good time with them. It’s the end of year holiday. That’s all.

You are not wrong about that....its also a time of giving and sharing...the Almighty gave His son to die for us... So its also a season of giving and sharing.. and also, seeing loved ones and all that

My parents are socialist and don't believe in God, but we celebrate Christmas, Easter and some other Christian festivals because this festivals have been embedded in our culture for 1450 years. Other non believers who celebrate might be because of this also or other reasons. I sometimes go to church and bow and pray for something I don't believe lol.

well your position makes it difficult for me to discuss some certain angles...
but reading the accounts of Jesus Christ, there's nothing that points to a desire for fame or anything similar... many of us really really miss what Jesus did (or came to do). one major amongst others was to preach the gospel. we should be asking and seeking what does the 'gospel' entail?

Christianity didn't originated here. It came to Ethiopia in the 1st century AD and become the state official religion in 320s AD. This makes Ethiopia the 2nd nation in the world after Armenia to adopt Christianity as a state religion.

About the Jews, I believe that the original ones were Black but don't really know if they were Ethiopians. Most of the Ethiopian Jews went to Israel recently. Some say that the exodus didn't happened from Egypt to Palestine but rather from Ethiopia to Yemen.

According to Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, the Ark of the Covenant is in Aksum Mary Zion church, northern Ethiopia. And Ethiopia is 2nd and new Zion (Israel). The people are God chosen and will remain so until the coming of Jesus for the 2nd time. There is a saying here which says, "Ethiopia shall soon stretch forth her hands unto God".
