The worse will be Agric bus/stop

There are too many houses are going down. I fear for the landlords. Worse case scenario, none of them are going to be compensated

As long as you have your legal documents with C of O, the government will adequately compensate you.

Its only those with illegal documents that will be affected, that's why it is always advised to verify your real estate before purchase to make sure you don't fall victim.

Every land belongs to the governor.

You are just a tenant for 99 years

The other question is why didn't the owner of the buildings seek necessary permits and approvals from the State Ministry of Works and Housing before buying land anywhere from omoniles?

We are all technically tenants on the land we occupy. After 100years government can revoke your papers but in some cases they don't wait that long. In saner clients, you don't have to kill or worry yourself building a house by fire by force

When I hear some idiots calling a people ancestral land no man's land, I laugh. God owns the land followed by the constituted authority be it government or the monarchy system. Government are like demons they do not forget though it may tarry

Don't build on government land. You may weep later if nothing to fall back on

I don't think it's the government at fault. That road has been commissioned before most people even got thr land there. I think the residents are to be blamed for not taking proper survey

Government is not doing enough too. They wait for people to build houses only for them to come and demolish it. They are supposed to sensitize people especially when they find out that people are moving into land that belongs to the govt.

People too on their own part should do a proper investigation of the land such as carrying out the survey plan of the land before they buy any land, this will save them from issues like this.

It's not a good experience at all. my parents house was also demolished sometime around 2004 at aboru abule egba side of lagos.

You and I generated the filth, you and I have the primary duty to clean it up.... He (Ambode) only has a secondary role to play.

What have you done?

Residents of ishawo in ikorodu watch helplessly as their houses gets demolished by the government officials today.

The Agric/Ishawo road has been commissioned far back 1973 by the federal government as an express way which leads to the Lagos/Ibadan express road. Unfortunately for some people, their houses, worship places and business centers are on the pathway. cry

Now this an interesting scenario. Although it was categorically stated that everyone is aware of a road path but people with their attitude of disobedience would always go any length to manipulate their ways around any standing provision while claiming land ownership out of the mindset of worldly possessions.

whereupon, Everything on Earth belongs to Us (GOD). Well, Good move by the Government though as the 16 lane dual carriageway is a certainty that is coming into effect absolutely.

LAGOS IS THE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD AS OUR (GOD) BASE WITH ABUJA REMAINING AS THE POLITICAL CAPITAL. AND SO THEY MUST ALONG SIDE OTHER STATES OF THE FEDERATION FOR THE INTEREST OF THE PILGRIMAGE/HAJJ EXERCISE THAT SHALL BE PAVING WAY FOR A MULTITUDE OF SPIRITUAL TOURISTS BEGINNING FROM NOVEMBER THROUGH TO THE END OF DECEMBER.

Probably original receipts and survey plans? Lagos is always adamant to compensate victims of demolition. This is no news to anyone

The truth is that majority of the houses being demolished are not entitled to compensation because if they had done the needful before buying and building a house they would have been told if the land is free from govt acquisition or not and that would have saved themselves from this big yawa as well. But we put sentiment to everything, though govt is failing on its own part too.

If they have their genuine papers, why won't they be compensated...? Their compensation would have been factored into project cost during feasibility study and planning.

All they can do now is to form a formidable association and engag government corporately since individual approach to seeking consolatory redress would yield less positive result.

It's a pity what the occupants and owners of the properties would go through this year end.

On the other end, encroaching on government reserved land is not compensable. The baales and land-racketeers in that area should be held accountable.

Govt must demolish houses on the roads to expand the roads for the greater good of the majority of residents.Govt, cannot because of interest of few people who deliberately built their houses on the roads allow those roads remain congested and impassable, something must give way.Rochas did it here in Imo State amd the roads are very wide now with less traffic congestion unlike before.Henceforth, when people build houses near main roads, they should shift back very well to avoid had i known. In any case, landlords who built houses on this road since 1973(44yrs ago)must have recovered their investment tey tey.
