I am not a lady. Thus, I wouldn't be able to answer this question properly, but judging from the men's perspective, I will say it has a lot to do with comfort and fear.

It depends on how much the lady trust the man in question.

Some ladies don't feel comfortable telling a potential husband all about their past because they revere the guy may try to run away from commitment or pass unfair judgments on them. The same theory applies to some men.

The reason why fear plays a role is because some of the those men and women may even be willing to divvy up this information about their past with those they feel less comfortable with, instead of their potential spouse.
