The British granted them the referendum. That was why it was only the British themselves that gave Cameroon the option of either joining Nigeria or Cameroon. Southern Cameroon complained to the British that they want a third option which is independence for southern Cameroon, but the British refused and told them they can only choose between Cameroon or Nigeria, the referendum was conducted and they chooses Cameroon. It did not matter if the British had left by 1961, the southern Cameroon was still a British colony by then, it was not fully part of independent Nigeria,

It is not legitimate because the history u are inventing is a fraud. According to Wikipedia, the northern region was an autonomous division within Nigeria. They had greater autonomy but was still under Nigeria. It's functioned more like a confederacy under Nigeria.

The regions have been abolished, it no longer exists, it has being fragmented into states. The old eastern region currently does not exist anymore. U cant use that instance to be clamoring for Biafra. The issue of Biafra is very different.

A restructured Nigeria is far more realistic than Biafra. If only the south south, south east, south west and middle belt realize the power we have, things would have changed. If we were United, with our large number, we would have challenged the challenger the north and make them see reasons why a restructured Nigeria is better. The keyword is Unity
