MTN doesn't zap data. They charge based on your actual usage.

Airtel is another story.

I use 9mobile though, even though there data plans are expensive, I prefer them. Just like MTN, they don't zap too and I get lots of bonuses.

For instance, if I recharge 1k, I get 1200 for calls for other network and another 1200 for 9mobile lines.

If I use 1.2k to subscribe for their 1.5gb plan, I get 750mb bonus to use for one month during the day between 5:01am to 11:59am. And another 750mb bonus to be used for one month between 12am to 5am.

Thanks. I do get Bonus from glo too. I have over 15k bonus now but I do more browsing than calling. What's the best plan for MTN? I was managing the snail speed glo because of their data packages but not after cutting it by half and initiating zapping. I can't even watch the live events I use to watch before because of their speed. I ignored that but not this one.

Re: Bye Bye To Glo Data Subscription by idris4eva(m): 12:29pm On Feb 11, 2018

Your own case is different o, I have to move closer to my house fence, I will now stand on a chair with one leg, raise the other leg up backward, turn my face to the left side and smile before I can open a page using glo data.. I nearly smash my phone one day, I was downloading a 3MB file, after 4 hours of raising my leg up and smiling like baba Kingsway, I mistakenly put my leg down due to mosquito bite, immediately the network disappeared and couldn't connect again for the rest of the day..

Since they stopped the bonus, the network speed improved, I think it's was over load that was their problem....

So... The more people drop their Glo Sims, the better the network speed.

wink
I knew people who still went ahead to subscribe to their latest 2gb for 1k just because of 2k bonus airtime. The network wasn't improved on their phone as at yesterday.
And what is their total data subscribers base compared to MTN?
Re: Bye Bye To Glo Data Subscription by Bbdealer(m): 12:31pm On Feb 11, 2018
I subscribed glo and couldnt even open theor website with d data and not up to 4hrs later subscribed airtel. That network should be sold and the money used as tithe

I started having network problem with my glo modem since 2017 but i finally dumped them this 2018 because their services were getting worse.

Don't mind those unserious companies. Just dump them and move ahead with other network.
I'm on MTN, better.

If you’re in Lagos, abj or ph get ntel sim today and do the unlimited package. Trust me your browsing life will not remain the same again. Also, those complaining about glo, go to your access point and set it to glo internet, APN: gloflat, username: flat and password : flat

Shebi that one good na. In my own case, there will be network on the floor of my bedroom but not on my bed. If I really want to browse, I will move to my parlour on top of my 3 seater couch, that's where I will get good network reception. I will still subscribe to glo sha not withstanding. I just don't trust those Indian Airtel people. 4Gb is normal 800mb.

Hahahahaha dude!! Hahaha same thing here. There's glo network when I stand on my bed but never when I lay on it.

You'll meet me standing on my bed sometimes around 2am at night. Crazy.

Not trying to justify Glo's poor service or preach to you to remain but let me ask the following questions

1. Have you checked to make sure the network mode on your phone or dongle is set to 3G alone? Leaving it at Auto as most people unknowingly do, degrades service performance as your phone hovers from 3G to 2G or 4G as the case may be. I have mine steady on 3G and at night I revert to 2G to save battery life.

2. Are you on 4GLTE? If yes then, I would advice you stick to 3G. Not sure Glo have upgraded all their base stations to 4G or have them compatible. I use only 3G.

3. Have you tried your SIM on any other device other than the one you're experiencing issues with? Some of these mobile phones have low radio power hence are unable to amplify the signals they get from the base stations. Most equipment manufacturers trade quality for fanciful features to attract patronage. Of what use is a mobile phone with 10000mAH battery or 40 mega pixel camera (front and back), sleekiness, gbogbotigbo but comes with low radio transmission power?

4. Have you tried other network Simon your phone in the same area to see if they perform any better? Most networks are based on shared infrastructure so what affects network A, would most likely affect network B
I read through your four questions. Let me just say that I'm not new to phones and Naija networks. It affects me and it affects people around me. It's a new development. This issue has always been there before but it is currently at a new level. Did you take your time to read few comments here? That says it all. Thanks.

if you still intend to use glo, go to you internet settings and change the network type to wcdma only. it more stable than the other options. many people dont know this and thats why they complain about glo.
