My anger right now can't be fully understood.

This guy called Ogunvic (Ogunleye Kayode) is the most foolishly proud, arrogant and irresponsible person I have ever met.

I'LL TRY TO EXPLAIN IN DETAILS

Towards the end of last year December I was fortunate to meet the Mech Specialist Mr Gazzuzz who sold me a faultless Tokunbo Toyota Corolla. After negotiations and all documents handed over I decided to meet Ogunvic and try out his over exaggerated Fleet Management.

We scheduled a couple of meetings and a few calls and in all he was very boastful about the system he runs and kept guaranteeing its 'foolproof'. Here's a summary of his terms and conditions:

Partner to handle all maintenance and mechanical faults.
Repairs to be handled by the insurance company will be treated "DULY".
FleetXpert agrees to "Notify" partner of any mechanical problems with the vehicle.
Partner provides "N30, 000 worth of Fuel + Total Card"
Partner to provide driver with
A Brand New Phone
Spectranet 4G Modem
Car Charger

In the event of unfortunate events Fleetexpert pays Partner 60% of whatever driver makes after fuel cost deduction "before the unfortunate event".

After he then added an eye sore that Partner to pay N20,000 Driver Registration Fee which was not included in the contract. I specifically told him that's not possible cuz I see no reason for such from the partner.

As at the time I had no cash on me for all he listed and I asked him to handle the 15k Spectranet, 30k fuel, 1k total card and getting fire extinguisher, car wash and floor carpets and car charger (estimated around 10k) totaling approximately 56k. I told him to deduct 20k off the weekly agreed till its fully paid off and he reluctantly agreed. I went ahead and got his specified phone.

Being concerned about my car and its usage plus stories I read here on Nairaland about car theft and vandalism since most drivers don't have gated parking space. I asked him to search for a driver living around the mainland (preferably any in and around Surulere, Akoka, Anthony, Maryland, Isolo) and for security I asked the car be parked in my office complex which was by the bus stop expressway so it's easy for the driver to come out and pick up. With this I can also keep an eye on the conditions of my car. This offer was obviously turned down. He gave his reasons so I agreed.

I further asked if whenever I needed to use the car for work delivery or outing the driver could assist with discounted payment for service rendered and he agreed.

All doubts crosschecked I made up my mind to entrust him with the car regardless. On Friday 5th of January I handed over the car. He agreed to get a driver and do all necessary arrangements for the car to begin work as soon as possible.

Next day I checked my tracker and saw series of movements between Magboro in ogun state, lekki, ilupeju and ikeja. I called him to ask if he got a driver and didn't let me know but he wasn't picking so I asked Mr reliable Gazzuzz and he explained to me that he lives in magboro, works around ilupeju and has an office in lekki. So I relaxed even with sadness about the car gaining so much miles and no money to show. Kayode later called and with a tone said he wasn't going to continue with me. I called back apologized and explained my concern and we resolved the matter. He said he'll try to get a driver soon.

On Monday 8th he informed me he got a driver (Emmanuel Offikwu) staying at Agege and he's concluding discussions. So with hope work will start. According to the driver he started work on Thursday even though tracker shows lekki movements Wednesday and overnight. I found out later from Driver that the day he collected the car he took it to a mechanic to fix the silencer cuz it was damaged by Ogunvic and he kept it from me (remember the agreement signed). Now I kept silent.

By Tuesday 16th I called Ogunvic Kayode and asked for an update on my pay. He said driver made around 57k and he would make calculations and give me a breakdown. I said ok and waited. 2 days later nothing sent. I called and he said busy and I should remember I owed him. I still said no problem let me just know the breakdown so I know whats left or not. But by weekend kayode still didn't send anything.

Now according to kayode, driver remits monday evenings, he makes calculations and sends money to partners on Tuesdays. So by Tuesday I was hopeful I'll get a call this time.

In the evening around 6pm, I got a call from the driver and the news was he had an accident. While reversing he bashed into another car at lekki. Matters escalated and the car was in the police station. I asked since when he said on Sunday 21st. I asked if kayode was informed he said yes, on Monday. He said he was trying to handle the matter quietly but since it'll involve the insurance company to fix he decided to call me. He also told me he made 80k+ and gave Kayode 60,000 and he bought 7k full tank and 4k extra in keg. After his call I called Kayode and without blaming him for not telling me as per the contract I asked what he was doing to resolve it. He said he would call the other car owner and negotiate for car to leave station for repairs. I said ok no problem. I immediately called the insurance company (Axa Mansard) and with no hesitation the very nice lady (Taiwo who I also got from Mr Reliable Gazzuzz) said no problems, I should provide pictures of both cars, police report and repair estimates and that in a few days it'll be done. I smiled and thanked God for insurance.

Next morning Wednesday around 10am I called Kayode to ask how far, he said he had stuffs to do and will find time later in the afternoon to see the third party and apologize and issue a post dated check and avoid the police. This is a matter already at the Police Station.

He said he just got to know on Tuesday and I told him I didn't care and all I wanted was the car out ASAP. (All this while I was speaking calmly and he's the type that when he's speaking he wants you to take his opinion but when you speak he'll keep interrupting and press his opinion whenever there's a problem.)

He said I was blaming him and he got angry and told me if I don't want to "LISTEN" to him I should go and get the car out myself. I ended the call.

For a car that's been at the police station going to 4 days Kayode still has stuffs to do and my car was not important enough.

I called the driver and asked for the third party number. I called and he said we could meet at the station since he was close and that the police were even asking for the car owner to confirm insurance. I left my office immediately, went home to get all original papers and insurance certificate, I called the driver and asked him to join us so we resolved everything. I took an UBER and after 30mins on trip I called the driver only for him to tell me Kayode asked him not to come. I tried everything to explain to him the importance of him being there to witness any discussion but still he was adamant about coming.

Now my fire was burning very bad.

I got to the Lekki station where the car was and the police woman in charge told me the other guy had waited almost 2 hrs but left minutes before I arrived. The police further asked for the driver and I said he was on his way that we should start processing any thing.

She clearly refused and said all parties involved must be present to confirm who is who. So I was stuck. I tried to call the driver and after very many tries he didn't pick. The police also called and he didn't pick up. I called the third party and he said once the driver comes I should let him know and he'll return.

At this point I had to narrate this story to the police lady who asked for Kayode's number and called him. In my presence she asked kayode to come over so everything can be resolved amicably. Kayode bluntly refused and said whenever he has chance he'll come. According to the police lady she said Kayode was arrogant and rude and I noticed her say kayode should chill since she was the one calling with her own credit he had no right to shout at her or refuse her talking. Kayode kept saying if he's to come it'll be later in the evening that he was busy. The lady was shocked and said is he expecting the 2 car owners to wait all day till evening when he has chance.

She referred me to the case section and the DCO asked an officer to follow us to the Kayode's office there in Lekki. We got there in pretence as clients for the secretary and as expected Kayode wasn't there. I was told by the police to file a different case against him at the ilupeju station close to Kayode's usually location for defrauding. So I left.

On my way I called Mr Reliable Gazzuzz and narrated my situation he asked me to calm down and give him chance to speak to kayode.

Few minutes later Kayode called me and stupidly said the reason he asked the driver to wait was because driver didn't have transport fare and he was to send him money but was busy. That he'll send soon. I said no problem so I faced home. By the time I got home around 5pm the driver called and was apologizing that he didn't have cash and also went to the hospital for treatment and that's why he didn't pick. I said no problem, call the other party and schedule a meeting time and inform me so we all settle the matter.

Next day Thursday I called the driver and he said the other guy agreed to Friday.

Friday morning around 9am I called the driver and he said he was on his way to the station and the other guy said to meet by 11am. I quickly got dressed and called Kayode and he said the driver told him the night before and he'll be leaving home soon that he'll pick me up at my office so we can go together. I told him driver was on his way there so I'll wait. By 10:30, kayode said he's almost at my place. I called the driver and to my surprise he said Kayode asked him to wait at his ilupeju location so we could all go together.

11am I called Kayode and he said he's close. Called driver and he said no sign of kayode. I called the other guy and acted like I didn't know there was a fixed time. He said he was at the station and waiting for the driver who he agreed to meet. So to buy time I said I was coming and he should please wait.

11:30am no sign of kayode so I called an UBER and left. I called the driver and told him to inform kayode I will go ahead amd they should meet me there. Getting close to the station I called Kayode and he said he had to handle certain things but will be leaving soon. When I got to the station I met the Gentleman waiting in the heat. He obviously wasn't happy and asked for the driver. I said they were coming. After a few minutes I called Kayode and he said they were coming, further said he didn't want anything to do with police and I said not a problem. We can speak with the guy outside and the driver and I can go in resolve the issue and be gone. For him coming is just to assist the driver incase he needs to pay money to the police or make negotiations or stand as his guarantor.

After 1 hour no sign of kayode nor the driver and the other guy vexing and me consoling. Driver stopped picking his calls.

I decided to plead with the police and ask if anything else can be done, I wrote a statement and she sent to the DPO. The DPO gave the condition that I first fix the other guys car and mine remains till its done.

Till now, kayode hasn't called, driver hasn't called.

This is someone who claims to run a Fleet Management Company. No regard for Partner, No remorse whatsoever.

My car still seats at the Police Station pending the quote from the other guy who says his car was bought brand new and as it's still under warranty can't give it to any mechanic except the car manufacturer. Who he says will get repair quote out by Monday.

That's the current situation and he's here still advertising for more cars to collect and damage while ripping off partners and favoring drivers.

Note I have call records on the Wednesday and yesterday Friday between kayode and I. I have tried attaching but doesn't seem to load.

Jeez!!! This is bursted. I was almost sending my car to him after he sent me a soft copy of terms and conditions. This is definitely not encouraging and I'm putting a stop with my dealing with him. How can one trust these so called fleet management companies as I'm also almost signing a deal with another one I met here with my second car. Drivers will give you headache, fleet companies will give you migraine. What can one do now

If you are in Lagos, you shouldn't fear much. At least, you can easily check on your vehicle. But if you are outside the country or far away from Lagos. Do your due diligence.

The fleet managers so far I’ve not committed any fraud or scam albeit little communication gaps and misunderstanding.
We should cut them some slacks and offer suggestions on how they can navigate the terrain.
We shouldn’t put them down, because I am so proud when I see Nigerians trying to make legitimate income.

It’s an added advantage that they are also Uber drivers. No need to go so hard on them, they strike me as committed hustlers.
And they are good friends to Gazzuzz also which makes repairs more easier and straightforward for them.

We also need to appreciate the wealth of knowledge and information they share here on a daily basis.
Please guys there are Nigerian investors looking here to invest, and it’s not good if we chase them away with all the undue bad reps we give Ogunvic and Romeo.

Thanks for understanding.

Yes we are ... we experiment, we put to practice then we build on it ... already have clients popping in at the workshop to discuss every details and opportunity.

One thing we will not do is jump in because every other person dey do am... we will evaluate before we implement, which we always doing ..... Keep the narrative flying

Now we have a lead Tech who handles all communications and repairs issues with the drivers, we have put in place a scheduling process which appoints time as to when Cars come in for repairs n checks, we have a dedicated channel of all drivers.... Mehn we are changing the narrative without much noise o

Honestly the biz is saturated. Really not a good time to invest for intending investors. When last did you see a driver advertising that he needs a car to drive on this thread. Car owners are now begging for drivers.

Until uber/taxify implore means of increasing rider base. Just save your money and don't lose that job.

Before I am pulled into a saga cum gargantuan gaga, fleet experts used my services for vehicle inspections before collection. They only used and paid for my service once for a partial repair on a toyota corrola 2004, and continued repairs with client them selves. as of january 2018 no business transactions have transpired that have to do with car repairs.

Thank you.

The Market is not saturated, the low request comes with the Nigeria economy for now, even though the Government claims we are out of recession its yet to translate to reality. income is the same, disposable income is getting lower due to the general increase of good and services in the country.

alot of people are yet to recover from the December/January spending, February is coming to an end, a lot of riders are expecting their salaries, market will bounce back fully by April, be calm stay alive to make the money....

And i think its time for e-hailing stakeholders start praying for yahoo boys, the mainland owo epo, Wumego girls, they make the economy go round, in as much as Im not a fan of illegal money, this people have made business alive.

Cars are coming in and out of the platform due to a lot of issues,
1. investors expectations are too high
2. Bad maintenance culture of car. a client of mine said he services his every 8th month, my policies says every 5th week
3. Bad drivers and bad driving culture (we also have a lot of good drivers)
4. Bad mechanics (because a mechanic repairs your personal car doesn't mean he's good with cars on the platform
5. Wrong information by some people due to selfish interest. etc

E-hailing business (transportation business) is one of the business that gives you instant cash, as long as your car is on the road, reduce your expectations as car owners, so you dont fall into the wrong hands.
Like i tell most people we care to listen to me, you shouldnt invest more than 1.2million into this business, so you can recoup on you initial capital within a short time.

Do you think your car qualifies for uber, taxify, oga taxi. You need more information on how to go about it.

My brother it seems you the only one o. None of my drivers are complaining o. Owners are not begging o. My 04 civic that I posted already got a driver for. One of guys looking for car that posted is earning few days. He said things are going well. And I was told that uber / taxify are blocking cars left and right due to bad cars o. Do you recall when uber reduced their requirements to 2000 model cars. I was thinking it is over for the business. How many 2000 model car you see now?

Have learn my lesson stick to cars that are at least 07 upwards. If the market is saturated the riders will be very picky. You guys that have cars below 07 I don't known how you people do it. HOW MUCH DOES A DRIVER MAKES

Alot of car owners think a driver make about 30-50 weekly, that is why some want the driver to share with repairs and maintenance cost with them. Before i continue about the drivers take home,

We are all stakeholders and partners in the business.
The Investor buys a car, most cant drive so he gives it to a driver, as an investors without a driver you cant make money and as a driver you cant make money without a car, so its called partnership. The role of fleet Manager can not be ignored, Most Investors dont have enough insight about the business, some are even treated bad, some drivers also need tutor, need assistance and support which an investors doesn't have time. The role of a fleet manager cannot be over emphasized. but lets leave that for now.

The only time a driver makes alot of money is
1. maybe he just got a new car and hes eager to work, because its been awhile he hit the road.
2. he has a personal target, he needs to pay bills

the average amount a driver makes is 65000 weekly, no driver can hit 100k weekly consecutively unless hes ready to be buried. there are weeks a driver just want to make his rent money, make a little money and rest for the week, In as much that there are veteran in this business and know all the tricks, they cant boost of 100k weekly consecutively. for you to make 100k a week you have to be on the road for about 12-15 hrs daily, Maybe with luck you spend lesser hours on the road. As a driver there are times you start work 5 am and by 10 pm you're still struggling to hit 10k, there are times you start work late within 5 hrs you have more than 10k........

The luck game is alive when it comes to this business, there are times you have 10 trips and when you calculate it, you have less than 10k, and there times, 4 trips will give you more than 10k. I am not saying there are no skills to this game, i will give luck 70% and skills 30% in this game.

major problems drivers have
1. lack of knowledge about the road
2. bad positioning (there are times you position well and you still dont get requests lol)
3. bad phone
4. poor internet connection
5. bad car
6. bad attitude.
7. poor rating
8. personal problems at home.
etc
to be continues.......
i am open to criticism.....................

Thank you.

oga,if u wan give out ur car give am outrightly with no conditions..... Forget seriousness and planning, when the poor driver suppose dey edge him go dey reason madam way him go go carry...for a reasonable driver to make money,he needs to work 12hrs daily.....the business is already over saturated to come and be doing part-time private driver/part time kabu kabu driver and still be rogering lord lugard
interested drivers hav been calling chairman...no be by force ooo. So make u park well.but on a 2ND tot if u day think well u wld understand that since the biz is saturated 20K is a good deal that's 15K off. Assuming u day remit 35K and u get offline 15K weekly to take some1 to work and back from that location against traffic u wld turn it down abi.and yet u say it's saturated .come make I expand your brain cos it looks slow

Drivers please dont take a deal you know you wont be able to deliver on..........................................

someone came to me, to make use of my services, he said the driver remitted just about three weeks in 2018, i was like kilode........ actually the car was still with the driver at that moment, so i scheduled to see the driver to actually know what's up and hear from him. The driver came up with excuses about been sick, he couldn't work, i was like ok..... I told him i believed him, but he has to make me proud for believing by allowing me check his taxify app, actually he came with his friend who is also a driver. They were like, i wont understand the app, that since i dont drive... i just smiled opened by uber app, they saw about 360+ 5 stars, showed them my previous taxify earnings and i told them there is nothing new under the sun. i was finally allowed to check the phone, this guy has been cleaning out every week.

Suddenly i just got curious and asked for the agreement the driver signed, you wont believe
1. he to service the car
2. the driver is in charge of any repairs less and 20k

i was so furious with the driver, why will you sign such? what were you thinking of? all the repairs the driver was to do he didnt do it, the car was due for servicing, the driver found a way to collude with the car owners mech .I collected his mobile phone market value 7k max, the car owner was already emotional and i told him this is business for me, i couldnt do much though but i made sure his phone was collected... The guy didnt even have a guarantor.

DRIVERS AND INVESTORS PLEASE LEARN
