Africa: China Remains Africa's Top Trading Partner

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- China remained Africa's biggest trading partner as bilateral economic relations boomed, said Jiang Zengwei, head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Bilateral trade between China and Africa reached 149.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, Jiang said at a meeting on investment opportunities between China and Sao Tome and Principe in Beijing on Friday.

While trade relations between China and Africa had been growing rapidly, investment ties have also prospered, with Chinese companies investing 3.2 billion dollars in the continent in 2016, said Jiang.

Investment by Chinese firms, mainly in construction, manufacturing, services, mining, agriculture and infrastructure, has brought about benefits and development for both Africa and China, he said.

As for Sao Tome and Principe, Jiang said China, as the world's second largest economy, is equipped with ample funding, a complete industrial system and advanced technological equipment to contribute to the economic and social development of the African country.

Sao Tome and Principe Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada is on his first official visit to China from April 12 to 18 http://www.focac.org/eng/zxxx/t1454091.htm

Stick to the military fan-girl stuff. Posting pics of military hard-ware is infinitely less harmful than ignorant postulations on economics.

Russians are out the game; and they tried to influence the US election in favour of Trump.
My 2 statements are not mutually exclusive. Everything they've been doing ever since Vlad the thug got back denotes weakness.

They have every right to trade with whatever country chooses to trade with them, in whatever field. As do the Yanks, China, SA etc. And all of us have every right to analyse those relationships. I'm a firm believer in free trade, and vehemently opposed to the zero-sum 19th century mercantilism espoused by the current incumbent in the White House.

FYI - they didnt support Trump, they supported discord
See: "In the United States"
https://www.google.com.hk/search?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

"OMG TARRIFS! REEEE!"

I am also in favor of free trade, big fan of Adams, Freidman, Sowell and Hazlitt. I know all the free-trade arguments because I have been arguing in favour of them for years. But what the White House is doing is not zero-sum Mercantilism, its a trade war, short term policies to force other nations to implement reasonable trading practices. There is nothing sensible about one party engaging in free-trade and the other implementing tariffs, subsidies, ownership limitations, production quotas and the like.

The major manufacturing powers are Japan, China, Germany* and America - the major manufacturers that employ protective tariffs are: Japan, China Germany and, now, America.

Econmics aside, you merely have to ask yourself - "If tariffs will hurt America and reduce her market-share, why are her competitors (whom have been using trade-tariffs for decades) so angry about them? Surely, her competitors stand to profit from this?"

Just like the Paris Accords, just like Trumps NATO statements, just like NAFTA, just like the TPP, just like the Wall and the de-funding of the UN - the reason for this anger, this great gnashing of the teeth, is that many nations around the world are beginning to realize that the free-ride is over.

*Germans are the fvcking worst with tarrifs - "we believe in free trade" *places 30% VAT on imported goods* "o..oh, its not a tariff, its just VAT, everyone uses VAT"
