Btw, Rashford's game has been derailed under Mourinho. He was a promising young striker with great potential under Vangaal until Mourinho happened. How many consistent runs has he had in the striker role? I know Klopp would work wonders on him like he did with Firmino if he was his player. How I wished Vangaal had stayed.

Depay is a LW. Martial is LW. Rashford is LW as we all can confirm he knows nothing about CF anymore. Sanchez is still LW though he operates from the AM in our matches. Even Lingard was used as a LW in some matches and can be used as a makeshift LW.

This poses the question - do we really need another LW? If we buy Depay back, I bet you that within 3 weeks, United fans all over the world (especially us on this thread) and various pundits will starts screaming that Mourinho has wrecked the career of three of the LWs coz there's no way Mourinho can play all four LWs in the same matches all the time.

Sometimes, I do feel SAF(with all due respect) is the one creating this turmoil of employing mediocre managers after his departure. For goodness sake, Man U's culture have always been playing attacking football so why will he support/suggest to the board to employ defensive minded managers when we could have the likes of Guardiola, Klopp etc. Mou's tactics is the one slowing the emergence of Rashford, Lingard and Martial even Pogba cos there is not enough fluidity in our attack at all. All Mou knows to do well is organise a team defensively, we need to get rid of him now and employ the unemployed Enrique now before we lose him like we lost Pep and Klopp.

Vangaal should have simply stayed. His possession game weren't yielding enough fruits because of the lack of creativity and the poor basic knowledge of the midfield control/play in the midfield, we all saw his goal scoring worldcup side. He was already building great attacking potentials in Rashford and Martial. He also wanted Mane but our board was penny pinching and he had to settle for Depay instead. When we talk of the midfield, you can't expect a 3 man midfield of Carrick, Rooney, Herrera/Morgan to have been the bomb cos every one of them lacks the basic of midfield play except the ageing slow snail Carrick. The midfield not only lacked creativity but also pace. I'll keep saying that Vangaal got the best out of the bang average team.

I admit he lack the foresight in buying established players but give him quality players, including quality kids, he will do fantastic. His personality is just like Klopp, although Klopp is more astute in the transfer window.

Apart from that, Lukaku isn't immune to substitution.

Mou could bring in Rashford for the last 10 minutes in games and develop him from there. At least he'll get some game time, so he'd still be sharp to some extent.

But no. Brawn over brain. Lukaku must always play 90 minutes. Plus Matic and Young. No trust whatsoever in most of his players.

Let me put this in before I go, why buy Sanchez? I mean what does he offer? The annoying part is he's more of a SS than a left forward these days. I don't mind a SS but I prefer one who can offer more in the creativity dept as well as one that can manipulate the ball quite well in tight space which Sanchez is neither. Unless we go for a 3-5-2 setup, I don't see his use.

Now that I've looked at it, a 3-5-2 won't be bad with the right players.

Get in De ligt to play the central defence role, Van de beek to play the deep playmaking no 6, Ricardo Perreira to play the Rwb, and we're set to go. We would need a Lwb though and I would love to see Lingard play as a no 8. He did that once under Vangaal against Mancity and he looked good. His simplicity, fluidity and off the ball movement would complement Pogba's stupidity and flairs.

TBH, Ajax it is if you're looking for quality defenders today. The likes Vertoghen, aldeweir, Van djik, David Sanchez etc were all from the place.

There's also this frenkie de jong guy who can play the no 6 as well as the central defence. I prefer him in defence though because he loves to romantice the ball at times, not as Pogba's love for the ball but he sometimes take many touches on the ball before releasing it which isn't suitable for a deeplying playmaking no 6 player who's supposed to be fluid and keeps it ticking, Van de beek is far better at this aspect and beek's goal scoring input is an added bonus to the midfield.

As for de jong, he's better off in defence as he really formed a formidable partneship with de ligt in Ajax's central defence before his injury.

I wouldn't oppose to a 3 man central defence of De Jong, De ligt and Blind. All dutch defence. The passes and build up play from the back would be mad and both de jong and de ligt would compensate for Blind's lack of aerial duel.
