the man should be retained.
he is a good coach...the kind of coach we have been longing for... though he may not be too tactical but very discplined and a good man manager.
So far Rohr is doing a good job but WC performance should do the talking about his retainment not even necessary to reach quarter final but let us see good Super eagles that would give us great future.

I remember 2003 U17 team, the team failed to qualify from group stage but we all saw a promising team that was better than 2001 U17 finalist.

They got knocked out in the group stage. That was Mikel's U17 set coached by Eguavoen. However, the team played good football and showed promise.

Lokosa highlights are on youtube. There is no wow factor in them. Besides, this is his first season in the top flight. He has been rewarded for good form which is great. We do not know how good he is because of the level, he is playing at the moment.

Kayode has had good scoring records in much better leagues and has played with far better competition including Roma in the Europa league.

Based on what we know of their careers, Kayode is much better but Lokosa could be a diamond in the rough. Time will tell.

Thank you very much, your last paragraph is key, lokosa should start Congo match

Let me tell you something about Nigeria fans we love good football irrespective of result.

Nigeria U20 team to mexico in 1983 did not make it out of group stage but received praises,if I can remember this team nearly beat Brazil the match ended in a draw.

Check out Cameroon team at Espana 82,in the group stage they didn't lose any match but failed to qualify from the group but the build up from that team gave the world the best of indomitable 82-2000

All we need is good football cos it always bring results though sometimes team might not get the deserves result but fans will know this is a team.

Rohr should give us a team that average Nigeria fans w be proud of at WC.

Thank you,do we need to argue it that Kayode is better than Lokosa even he is better than Simy but we need to respect Rohr decision who is in charge and know what he want in the team.

I would rather have Simi Nwankwo start. He looks more like a player that can add value. We really need to assess him closely. We should give him more time and maybe Lokosa can come in later in the game.

Kayode is obviously better than Lokosa and maybe better than Simi in certain aspects and vice versa .

But the fact remains that Lokosa merited his call-up as the NPFL highest goal scorer. And Rohr needed to patronize the local league just to boost the Morales of the NPFL players.

As for between Simi and Kayode, I would not want to use statistics to compare them because they play in different leagues with different levels of competiveness. Firstly, Rohr has interest in tall CF which is why he has shown interest in Osimhen. Simi is a typical lone striker. He brings in something that the other CFs do not really have( only Ighalo shows it when he is in form). We have so many Kayode-like players in the team. Iheanacho, Musa and even Onyekuru play similar ways as Kayode although to different degrees. Plus height is a disadvantage for Kayode.

I don't really clamor for players much but I don't have much confidence in Ighalo. Let's see what Simi can offer.

Caniggia: Argentina Very Strong In Attack, Weak In Defence
May 26, 2018 9:42 am

Argentina great, Claudio Caniggia, has stated that the Albiceleste’s weak point going into the 2018 FIFA World Cup is in their defence line.

The two-time world champions are in Group D with Nigeria, Croatia and debutant Iceland.

Caniggia, 51, who was a member of the Argentine side that got to the final of the 1990 World Cup in Italy, said Jorge Sampaoli parades a fearsome strike force but has a poor rear guard.

“What’s in our favour is that the best attacking players can put fear into anyone,” Caniggia who scored Argentina’s two goals in their 2-1 comeback win against Nigeria in USA 1994, told FIFA.com.

“Their names (Argentina strikers)alone unsettle the opposition. The other teams don’t think: “Higuain is being criticised in Argentina”. They think: “he’s Juventus’ top goalscorer”. Our weak point is that we’re still not solid at the back, and there are still a couple of places up for grabs.”

The former Boca Junior and River Plate forward stated that Lionel Messi lacks the kind of support Diego Maradona got from his teammates during his time as captain of Argentina.

“Messi doesn’t get the same support from his teammates as Maradona did. I think that’s true.”

Mikel: Rohr Best Super Eagles Coach, We’ll Succeed At World Cup, I’m Enjoying China
May 25, 2018 8:02 pm

Captain of the Super Eagles Mikel Obi has revealed that coach Gernot Rohr is the man with the magic wand who has turned the team around from a side that was unable to qualify for two Africa Cup of Nations competitions to one that is World Cup-bound in just two years, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Speaking at a media briefing in Uyo on Friday, Mikel claimed that the team has undergone remarkable changes both on and off the pitch under Rohr.

“With due respect to the other coaches who I have had the priviledge of working under, Gernot Rohr has had the most profound impact on the team. He’s brought a new work ethic, discipline and positive energy and a new way of doing things professionally,” Tianjin Teda star Mikel said.
He also claimed that the Super Eagles are capable of springing a surprise at the World Cup even though they are the least-ranked team in their World Cup group.

“I missed the last two friendly games due to visa issues but I’m here now and the preparation is in top gear,” Mikel added.

“We lost against Serbia due to some mistakes but they are not major things that cannot be rectified. We are working on them and I’m sure this team will come out stronger. I’m optimistic about this team and I know we will do well at the World Cup. We just have to be focused and disciplined. We have to go in as underdogs but we must prove that we are as good as any team on the day.”

Mikel was also coy about the prospect of coming back to Europe after his China odyssey, citing football’s unpredictability.
“Talking about coming back to Europe, you never can tell. In football, you never say never. I spent 11 years in England and now I’m enjoying my game in China. The league there is not as slow as you people think but I’m enjoying the game all the same. It it happens, fine. If not, I’m fine in China,” he said.

Bolton Release Chinedu Obasi After Just Two Months
May 24, 2018 4:31 pm

Former Nigeria forward Chinedu Obasi has been released by English Championship club Bolton Wanderers after just two months following the expiration of his short-term deal with the club.

Bolton made the announcement on their official website on Thursday.

According to the club, Phil Parkinson who is Bolton’s manager stated he would not be needing the services of Obasi and six other players after their deals ended.

Obasi, 31, joined Bolton in March after going on trial but did not make a single appearance for the first team, only featuring for the U-23s.

A statement on the club’s website reads: “Bolton Wanderers have today confirmed that seven players will not be offered new deals when their current contracts end on Saturday 30 June.

“Derik Osede, Dorian Dervite, Chris Taylor, Jem Karacan, Mark Howard, Jan Kirchhoff and Chinedu Obasi have all been informed by manager Phil Parkinson that they are free to look elsewhere once their contracts end at Macron Stadium.

“With the majority of the squad on overseas holidays, further meetings with the remaining out-of-contract players will take place in the next seven to 10 days.”

And commenting on the released players, Parkinson said: “I would like to thank the players for their contributions to Bolton Wanderers Football Club and wish them well for the future.”

Obasi was in the Flying Eagles squad that finished second at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands.

He was also part of the U-23 Eagles that won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China.

He featured for the Super Eagles at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Obasi should be able to get a team with his CV
