Hello, Please in filling the DS 160 for my mum, the date of her last trip is required, now the lady checking the expired passport can't find any stamp for the period, the only stamp is "cancelled without prejudice" she was still allowed in to US. Since there's no stamp can I use the date of flight on the ticket she used?

Also at the end of the form is it ok to include my details since I am filling the form for her? She's 72yrs
She's been to the US twice.
Thank you

Check her i94 record online to determine the day she arrived and left the US. I hope this helps.

I was denied visa 2 days ago but I still don't know why I was denied, and no I wasn't desperate as I have visas for SA, UK, Turkey etc.
It was supposed to be a family vacation, in NYC 4 nights, NJ 4 nights at my aunt's house and 2 nights in Arizona At the Grand Kenyon.
This is how the interview went...

I greeted the woman but she didn't mind me, she asked for my passport which I handed over to her. she should be above 50 years old, in window 6 or 7, I can't remember. Next time if I ever go back I won't greet them, it seems they don't accept greetings...

In fact when she called me I was happy bc she approved visa for the lady that she interviewed before me. In my heart I didn't want to go to the first lady in window 6 or so, she's very young pretty babe, while I was in the long queue, she interviewed about 7 people and all were refused lol.
So back to my interview, the lady asked where are you going to in USA.
I mentioned New York, New Jersey and Arizona.
She asked have you traveled before, I said yes I have traveled to 10 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, I presently have 3 visas on my passport.
She asked whats your monthly income, I said between 2.5 to 4 million Naira monthly depending on the volume of sales.
She said is that profit, I said no profit is between 400k to 500k monthly.
She asked if I was traveling alone, I said no my wife and kids live in the UK, I was traveling to London to meet them so all of us will travel together.
She said sorry I am refusing your visa, the reasons and details are in this paper, she handed me the paper, I left...

My question is, why was my visa refused? She did not look at any of my documents apart from my passport.
I am not part of the Nigerians that are running away from Nigeria, if I wanted to run away I will be living in UK since 13 years ago bc my wife is British and I have UK visa. But I choose to live in Nigeria even though my wife used to question this decision but I always asked her, is it bc am a black man? If you married an America or Australian will you mandate him to relocate to your country? I am not a billionaire but I am happy that by living in Nigeria and having some businesses here I am helping to grow the economy. Even if its a pure water business or akara that am selling, every month I pay my staffs so I am directly or indirectly feeding many families. I am a serial entrepreneur, every year I travel to top tourist destinations in Europe and Africa and I always come back within 2 or 3 weeks, all the visas and stamps are in my passport, we wanted to go to USA bc I wanted to know if its worth the hype. Besides america is the worlds most important country, I feel I need to visit there even if its for one week.

Why was my visa refused? Is is bc of the cities we intend traveling to or what, NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY AND ARIZONA?
Anyways I do not blame these people, if you see the crowd at the embassy you will put in measures to stop as many people as possible. I know for a certainty these countries can NEVER give visa to every Nigerian/African that qualifies for the visa otherwise their won't be enough space to contain everyone.

We will be spending our annual family vacation in Turkey and Greece, if I am in a good mood in December or early next year I may reapply the USA visa but for now I still dey vex bc I shouldn't struggle to get visa to go and spend my hard earned money in someone's country.

A man with a recently deceased wife. Maybe a dead baby too.... Leaving his kids to vacation?

That's not usual behavior. And the VO 's if they share my opinion may consider him a person who's trying to chart new grounds and think of the kids later...

you have a good standing bro...but after perusal of your story I feel the VO is not satisfied with ties you have with your family (family ties) i.e staying apart . Unfortunately this is not majorly a problem but the Nigerian factor is what came into play. maybe next time you represnt your story properly and take copies of your families British passport along, also try and build on ties with your family..(I mean something to show u live together)

I think they are doing general sieving now maybe we should just hold on first. I was told all these are happening because a lot of Africans are entering Canada from US(new York) precisely and our country Nigeria news isn't encouraging to them so they know any little space we get now is fian.My neighbor who have been to menesota (us) with 3kids went for renewal now 5 of them were now invited and denied(hmmm) saying both couple recent traveling, both spent 3 months was what they were standing on.make we leave this people for some time.I wish they can start rejecting people from point to purchasing the visa form so people wont keep applying and applying spending the money that isn't there.

How can a country denied visa for this kind of profile.
Please dont listen to anybody that says family ties or whatever, you qualified even more than 100%.
USA is just a normal country they are just hyping them nothing special.
Please can you please forgot them and apply to a country that will check and confirm your stand/documents.

That's y they have been giving visas to fake applicants who can cook stories for them and now they are complaining about people crossing their border to Canada, they are affecting Canada with their application policy by deciding genuine applicant only by interview which by verifying documents would have saved them from those shit

I had a similar issue last year when I applied for vacation and to see my new born baby living with my baby mama. Then I had no reason to immigrate as I have a thriving business here in Nigeria but was ummnarried. I have reapplied again but this time I am going for a fashion exhibition and my interview is coming up in a week's time. I also have some nagging issues I would like some experienced opinions on. My paasport expiry date is less than 3months from exhibition date. I made effort to get another passport but was informed by the immigration people that doing so will invalidate the old passport which I had used already to pay for the visa application earlier in the year. I was advised that Nigeria is excempted from the 6months rule and a document to that effect is on the American visa website, I was adviced to go ahead with the old passport. Pls any further info to help my case especially on questions to expect is welcomed.

Yes they are right.
Since your interview is in a week.
Go ahead with the old passport your visa will be issue in it but you must renew your passport before you travel and go with the both pp.

Thank you for your response. What are likely tips on questions to expect? I have booked hotel accomodation, I have invitation letter from the exhibition organisers. How else do you think I could boost my chances of success at the embassy?

Hello Guys,

I have a quick question to ask pls. My interview is tomorrow which means changing anything on ds 160 or updating my appointment profile is not possible.

I was going through my ds 160 form one last time and realise that the part that asks Person/Entity paying for Your Trip is blank. And i am also surprised that i wasn't prompted to fill the part before saving the form. It baffles me in the sense that you wont be allowed to go to the next page of the form if the previous page hasn't been fully filled. Just surprised on how i could have missed that.

Is this a show breaker or there are ways to correct this mistake. The trip is actually being sponsored by my employer.

Visa Approved. Thanks for all the input guys.

Hi Guys,

Sorry i should have posted my transcript earlier. I cant exactly remember everything but the major difference between both interviews was that i really put it out there that i have very strong ties and the training/induction i was going for was critical for my career. The VO did'nt have to ask i just put it out there until he decided to ask leading questions based on the info i fed him so i basically controlled how the interview went.

I didn't get a multiple entry visa tho. I got a single entry visa valid for the duration of my training.

VO: What are you going to do in ATL?
Me: Im a FULL TIME EMPLOYEE in (company) the largest ...... in the world. My role as a (role) requires that i learn about the business from the ground up. I've learnt about the local business strategy in Nigeria. i've also learnt about the zonal strategy in (........) and now i'm to go to the US to learn about our global business strategy.

I cant remember exactly how the flow went after but i know i put the fact that i have a daughter and she had been to the US (hoping he would check their database to confirm). I had letters from the global business, zonal and local which he took and kept looking at at intervals. He actually excused himself for about 5 minutes with my letters. Probably to go confirm it somehow??

Told him how much i earned, what my day to day job is like , how i love and enjoy my job and the enourmosity of the opportunity i have in that space.

He eventually told me i'm quiet young and still establishing my ties so he'll give me a single entry visa valid for the duration of my program.

Anyways I do not blame these people, if you see the crowd at the embassy you will put in measures to stop as many people as possible .

Bro nah we de fall our hand, some people are too desperate and we don't even know how to code things. Everybody wants to apply at once, as many times as possible to secure US visa. The mistake u made was saying you earn N4million after u changed it to N400K monthly. She felt u lied & because of the large crowd she didn't have time to give you a chance for defense

I agree with you 100%. The policy of not confirming applicant's status (documents, job) like UK and Canada often result into rejecting genuine applicants. Na wa o

Bruv theres a difference between sales income and profit.
The first question was how much do you make in a month, I said between 2.5 to 4 million Naira monthly depending on the volume of sales.
The second question was, how much of this is your profit, I said my profit is between 400k to 500k monthly.

I sale goods, my sales volume or income is not the same as profit, this is easy to understand na?

The thing tire me, they did not even look at any of my documents, it pained me because I have documents from my lawyer in London, support letters from my wife, family photos, affidavit from my nigeria lawyer, bank statements from 5 banks all with good balance, lots of documents to show I have several properties within and outside Nigeria.

Nigerians should forget about USA for now because they no longer want us in their country. Last week I met a former collegue they declined his visa application, he came with his wife and 3 kids, they have been to USA twice and back, they applied for renewal but was rejected.
I dont blame them, I blame the Nigerian politicians, if this economy is doing well not many Nigerians will be interested to apply for USA visa. Bc of the crowd they authomatically assume that every Nigerian is poor and desperate to run away from here
