The point I'm making though is that even though he pretty much gave all his assets to his wife, upon divorce, BOTH party's assets should have been considered for the split...gaining him back some of the lost assets.... if there truly is gender equality in the courts.

But as we know, there is no such thing.

I'm from the core North.. Nothing like registry marriage and sort, but to avoid stories that touch. I'll instruct a lawyer to draft one for me, and I'll make her understand before she sings anything. He signed over his assets to his wife and she mismanaged things when all money was exhausted they now fight for what little is left which he does not own as he put the houses in her name he ignored advice from friends and did not seek legal advice that sir is pure stupidity.

A lady that u struggled with in live and she stayed by ur side when things were down and u both eventually married and later attained a higher status in life.do u think u will have the heart to sign a prenuptial agreement with such a woman? Dude emotions will be involved. But for a man who has finally made in life and happened to pick one random girl as his wife or a rich old man getting married to a young girl half his age..such men are bound to sign a prenuptial agreement with such wives cos its much obvious that such women are getting married to their status and wealth. What happens should either party stray? If people are pragmatic instead of having “the happily ever after” mindset then what is the issue?

I think the general conclusion is that most people on this thread are too broke to see the value in signing a prenup.

And perhaps that is a valid position.
If you are too broke and have nothing, living in a face-me-I-slap you, you might not need one. As the person who joins you at that point in your life will undoubtedly suffer with you.

Perhaps the majority state of most Nairalanders is "broke".
