Nobody will hear word again because of Ebonyi state. Its good sha, at least their state governor is trying. Awka's flyovers stand strong as Icons for Anambra state. As for the roads washing away, I saw that coming. In Ebonyi state, Asphalt is poured on concrete, in Anambra, asphalt is poured on red sand. Ebonyi clearly has the best standard roads in the east. Let's just pray for Obiano to end well.

Maybe they should open Ebonyi state thread and transfer all of them there.

The thread is focused too much on Onitsha. I haven't seen much of Awka

I have been to Abakaliki and the roads are first rate but that is not what Umahi should be focused on. He should be focused on agriculture since Abakaliki is an empty city despite all its so-called great infrastructure because most of its people are in villages.

Regarding Anambra you see the same idiocy. A focus on rural areas when 70% of people in Anambra live in urban areas including at least 1/2 a million Ebonyi people. Anambra should be focusing on Onitsha, Awka and to a lesser extent Nnewi (which to me is a giant conurbation of villages).

Now what does Onitsha need?

1) It needs to upgrade its markets and clean up its environment. Trading should not be so primitive. Look at how China or Dubai do wholesale retail. In neat large-scale environments with 24 hour power and security and they make billions from it. Buses or keke don't drive into markets in China or Dubai. Markets are pedestrian only and you place your order, they bring it from the warehouse and deliver it. China and Dubai have gone online. These are the efficiencies that you need smart brains to think about for Onitsha markets. Raise them up and people will flood the place. Not the filth and primitivity of Ochanja and Main Market.

2) Onitsha needs power for industries to flourish. The government should try by all means to get gas to Onitsha from Imo either through the likes of Nestoil or by looking for a Chinese investor to build the pipeline to an industrial area.

For Awka, it is supposed to be the beauty queen to the raw capitalism of Onitsha. Awka is not that difficult to do.

1) The old town should be decongested and its roads completely tarred with proper drainages. Eke Awka should be relocated to a fit-for-purpose site in Agu-Awka and a City Hall built in its place.
2) The stadium site which was stalled should be converted to a public multii-purpose sports and recreational area with grass and trees for picnics, a childrens play pen, artificial turf football fields, enclosed tennis court, basketball court, a club house for changing/showering and a food court for at least 10 modern food vendors. Water should be channeled away from the waterlogged parts to create an artificial pond. ANSG
3) The Kenneth Dike library should be organized properly with lots more books and an art gallery and sculptural space with rooftop solar for lighting and cooling
4) The adjoining space around Kenneth Dike Library and between it and ABS should be converted to a proper park with trees, benches, etc.
5) The International Conference Center at Agu-Awka should be fast tracked and completed
6) The government should seek private investors via a bond to complete the Ikenga Shopping Mall.
