I really wonder why Arabs and even Northerners don't bear all these names listed against those beautiful Yoruba surnames.
Tolexander:
Why are these men wasting their time and money when they can easily withdraw their daughters from the school and send them to schools where their rights to freedom of thought, conscience and religion can be sustained and acknowledged through hijab!

The bitter truth about this hijab thing is, some of these girls don’t like the hijab thingy, but being imposed on them by their parents. Are those parents now respecting their daughters’ right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion?

The school sey e no want hijab, na by force?

What you said is complete rubbish. Nobody should be constricted to certain schools because of discrimination. We are all Nigerians and should be able to access education anywhere without discrimination. This should not be allowed in sane societies. Covering their head is religious prescription and must be allowed. If a Catholic nun wants to school anywhere, she will not be restricted because of her hijab.
On the case, the judge has used technicalities to strike out the suit. The merit of the case has not been examined. They will win in appeal court. Similar judgements have been won at appeal courts.

Discrimination? How can you go to a school founded by Christian missionaries and want to impose your own religion on the school? Is that sensible?

This is like a Christian going to a madrassah or a school founded on Islamic values and insisting they must have their hair open and wear secular clothes. Is that sensible? Would they even be granted admission?

When did Catholics tell you that nuns wear hijabs? Catholics should clear up that misunderstanding. Why certain people think they're wearing hijabs and that Mary wore one. Is that wimple now a hijab or are people grabbing desperately at the wind?

The world academic institutions used Yoruba as a case study of the world's best religious tolerance. Yet, some people try to divide Yoruba along religious line.

It will not work despite the cry of some Yoruba extremists. They have no support in Yoruba culture.

Take your hijab or whatever to blazes.

Beautiful! What else can one add to this?

A school that has been in existence for decades, they now expect the school to change their ways because of some few students? They knew this before sending their children to the school and there are many options there in Ibadan

Justice Ladiran Akintola of an Oyo State High Court 9 sitting in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday struck out a fundamental human right suit challenging the refusal of the University of Ibadan (UI) International School, to allow female Muslim students wear Hijab on their school uniforms.

Recall that the suit filed against the school, University of Ibadan, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Ibadan, who also doubled as Chairman of the Board of Governors in the school and the School Principal, Mrs. Phebean Olowe, was filed by some parents of female Muslim students in the school on behalf of their children.

The parents; Taofeek Yekinni sued the respondents on behalf of Moridiyyah Ayoka Yekinni, Idris Badiru sued the respondents on behalf of Ikhlas Badiru, Sikiru Babatunde sued the respondents on behalf of Mahmudah Babarinde, Muideen Akerele sued the respondents on behalf of Faridah Akerele, Bello Dokpesi sued the respondents on behalf of Aakifah and Aakiyah Dokpesi while Rahman Akinoso sued the respondents on behalf of Iman Akinoso.

Others were Muhaiminudeen Akinlusi on behalf of Raheemah Akinlusi, Abdulwasiu Moshood on behalf of Faridah Moshood, Dr. Olatunde Olosunde on behalf of Hamdallah Olosunde, Abdulsakur Adebayo on behalf of Aliyah Adebayo and Abdulrahman Balogun, Ridwan Ademola and Bolaji Ajani on behalf of Muslim Parents of the school.

The plaintiffs in the suit number M/706/2018, argued that continues denial of the 1st to 11th applicants the right to use Hijab on their school uniform within the premises of the school is unconstitutional as constitutes violation of the applicants rights to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.

But, Akintola while delivering his ruling on Tuesday, maintained that the originating summon of the applicants contravened the provision of the constitution of Nigeria.

Akintola said that the provision of the constitution does not allow filling of a joint action in a fundamental human right suit.

Do you know until last year that Saudi Arabia was the only country left in the world where women weren't allowed to drive? do you know why?
Saudi Arabia follows a strict brand of Islamic law that prescribes separation between men and women, while also mandating the women to wear veils to cover themselves. In the case of driving the ban has now been lifted as with voting right and many other restrictions too, don't you think Saudi Authorities have err in this aspect, the answer is obvious. Sometimes overtime man made rules becomes grossly inadequate to address certain dynamic issues of life, what God requires from us is true worship borne out of a pure and holy heart. If Saudi Arabia can get it wrong and are ready to make amends where necessary, then anyone within that circle can get it wrong in any other places. The truth is that freedom itself is restricted by obligation, it is sufficient therefore to say that if you go to a place where you are not welcome the best option is to leave, however in this case they didn't ask her to leave or ask her to change her believe, they only told her we can't give you the liberty we didn't give others. Simple and case close, don't see a need to appeal the judgement, but if they chose to it's within their legal rights!

Christian and Muslim extremists are a tumor that must be expunged. Christian extremists will hail their GOs to high heavens even if he sleeps with their sisters, mothers, wives and extort them all in the name of tithes and offerings. Muslim on the other hand carry their religion for head pass Saudi Arabia. They will sue Christian school, government school for refusing hijab, sue military, Nigeria judiciary for refusing hijab, kill and maim in the name of God. These two people are bad market for prosperous Nigeria.

the sch is a private entity - not run by any govt.. undecided
they should have been expelled by now for breaching the peace in that center of academic excellence.. undecided
or the appeal court will compell a private sch to admit students again...

Which fundamental right, please? Didn't they know what the school uniform looked like, before they enrolled their wards or kids, into the school? Why are they now trying to change it by incorporating one Hijab into it, that was not there before? shocked

If idol worshippers now wake up to demand that their children should be allowed to wear their own items to school, would that not create confusion? angry

See what is going on in this present day female Christians appearing in the publics and even appearing in churches that is why today what you hear in the news today is the new generation church pastors, bishops being charge in courts for raping, impregnating female and all form illegal affairs with female church members purely due to the way the female church members appear half clad in public programs and churches unlike the Muslim female children and their mummies appearing well clad in their public appearances. I am sure the case will go to appeal court to get rid of the anti Islam judge.
