Nice one from the president. Don't open the border until the neighbouring countries do the right thing.

I understand Benin and Niger complaining and might understand the cry of Ghana but how come Togo is so calm and not complaining.
Please can someone give me an update of how Togo is surviving without having to smuggle banned goods to Nigeria .
Not also forgetting that after Benin you get to Togo before Ghana

Buhari job is to protect Nigeria's interest and not that of Benin, Niger or Ghana.
God bless u. Just as USA will close her boarder with Mexico and other nearby countries to protect American interest.

This is stark parasitism on display. Why must a nation have to depend on smuggling to survive
When Dangote said no nation having Benin Republic as neighbor will survive, some people were raining insults on the business tycoon.
It's now obvious for all to see
You my mind, the border closure is one bold step, it gives one hope that one day Nigerian leaders will wake up to their responsibilities, God bless our president for this border closure

Why GHANA dey cry is because indirectly they come buy at cheaper price some of our nigerian products and go make profit in GHANA. And in Ghana things are very expensive because of currency differences between cedes and naira. They have not seen anything yet..

many company closed in Nigeria last year because of shortage or lack of electricity and went to Ghana but all their goods are shipping to Nigeria. The company complained of increase in fuel price

There is no need to open borders. We are okay as border closed. If company need our population, they should come to Nigeria to establish their company here. We have land for them and we have man power. We don't need parasites country . what are we benefit from Benin and Niger country?
Nigeria didn't stop any product from entering the country, even rice as long as you are doing it legally.

Let their citizens chop their presidents, or perhaps, IMF could help instead of lamenting.

We are not big brother of Africa for nothing.

Abeg, even though I have plied through the Benin border enroute Ghana before? Is their any other land border we shared with Ghana that I am not aware of? Why are the Ghanaians crying more than the bereaved Beninese and Nigeriens?

They are crying because their goods are not allowed into the country unchecked through Seme border unlike before.

Even the IMF agrees that there is a big variation in poverty rate in the country.

It is like there are two countries in Nigeria.

No prize for guessing the poorer part.

Let Nigerian government ban Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and other foreign social media platforms in our country. Our Internet gurus in Nigeria will take advantage of that to invent their own platforms thereby empowering her citizens. If Nairaland were to be the only platform we have in Nigeria, Seun would have upgraded it to perform in more diverse ways and so enjoy the money foreign guys are taking away from us. Before you attack my comment, please do your research to know that China and some countries allow home made social media full operations in their countries 24/7.But Some social media can only operate one or two hours in some countries so as to forestall competition with home made media. We want more Seuns to rise in Nigeria to push others out of the business. If I were to be Nigerian president I'll do it and no gate of hell shall prevail against me. The only way to kill your creativity is to have an option. Where there is no option, innovation is berthed.
