Ikwerre people remain Igbos, they can only cease to be Igbos when they stop speaking Igbo language and giving their children Igbo names.

In Igboland they have different subset of Igbos which include:

Igwo

Ngwa
Igbanke

Anioma
Ikwerre
Etc

In Yorubaland they also have subset of Yorubas which include:
Ijebu
Egun
Aworis

Okun

Ikwerres are in alliance with their fellow Igbos in Rivers state. Go ask the Ndokis, Ogbas, Etches, Opobos, Egbemas, Ekpeyes and Igbos from the SE and Delta state that reside in Rivers state
