The real story behind this is that in 1968, Lt Lamurde and his men where stationed in village of Ogwe, just outside Aba. Lamurdes men captured a young Igbo guy in the bushes, wearing only shorts. The Soldiers took the young man to Lt Lamurde and told him they suspected the young man to be a Biafran Soldier who had ditched his uniform on sighting them, hence the reason why he was wearing only shorts.

As fate would have it, a foreign news crew was interviewing Lt Lamurde at the time the Soldiers brought the young man to him and their cameras were rolling. Lt Lamurde then asked the young man 'what is your name!' and the man said 'my name is Mathias Kanu'. The Lamurde asked 'are you a Biafran Soldier?', the man denied it.

Then Larmurde played a trick on the man to find out if he was indeed a Biafran Soldier. Lamurde shouted 'attention!' and the man responded. Lamurded then told the news crew 'he is a rebel Soldier!'

The news crew asked Lamurde what he would do to the man and Lamurde said replied 'we will take him to our HQ'

When the News Crew made to leave, Lamurde ordered his men to tie the man up and place him on the ground. Oblivious that the Camera was still rolling, Larmurde proceeded to shoot the man dead on the floor. He then ordered his men to throw the body into the bush

The news crew later went to Portharcourt where Adekunle had his Headquarters and showed him the video footage of the execution. Desperate to show the international media that the Nigerian Army was just, Adekunle had Lamurde arrested, court martialed and executed

the true test of a mans character is not based on what he does when critics are observing,..but what he does when he feels no higher body is observing him..

He did it to project an image having seen that the British media covered the murder.

This doesn't make him clean in any way.

Adekunle platoon in his absence did what was normal to them;killing civilians. Unfortunately this time around camera was rolling and their senile commander have no choice. If he did not act his own head would have rolled.

The underlying truth remain that the psychotic military commander from West side did not defeat any Biafran platoon. His specialty was civilian executions. He loved soft targets. What a coward! !

Lmao, Adekunle was just in search of innocent blood, Gowon was an idiot, who just allowed himself to be tossed about by everyone . Nevertheless, I blame Gowon "majorly" for everything that transpired in that genocide.

Lt. Macaulay Lamurde was tried and executed on 13 September 1968 by Colonel Benjamin Adekunle for the murder of a young Igbo civilian.

The 23-year old Lamurde and his platoon had seized a young Igbo boy who was hiding in the bush. When questioned, the prisoner, wearing only shorts, denied that he was a Biafran soldier; he was looking for his parents.

Lamurde shot the bound prisoner three times. Dying in war is too common to make this death seem extraordinary, except for one thing: a British television team had filmed the murder. Source: Zeit.De

If the British television team was nowhere to be found, Adekunle would have given the Bachaman native a field promotion for the murder of Igbo chap.

Lies!!

Adekunle was a war criminal that specialized in killing civilians.

He was later arrested by Obasanjo for the Asaba massacre.

Adekunle was tried on the grounds that he could not kill a single biafran soldier but specialized in killing civilians.

Adekunle was stopped at Asaba while he tried to cross into onitsha which was his first war encounter and was dealt a huge blow.

Adekunle was dishonorably discharged and left to rot away.

Even at his death, no Nigerian leader/representative attended the war criminal’s burial.

Don’t distort the truth to support your narratives.

As far as we know...Adekune was not involved in the caputre of Asaba, and the massacare thereof ( 2 Division was involved in Asaba, while Adekunle's divison was involved in taking parts of the Midwest... before being ordered to Bonny and environs.

According to the Wikipedia article on the Asaba Massacare

I

Obasanjo releived Adekunle of his command at 3rd Marine Commando in 1969...after Owerri fell to Biafran forces. Adekunle was reassigned to a training post, then to run the Lagos Ports. As Dawodu dot com puts it

Adekunle's troops of LGO were already in Midwestern region before August 8, 1967. The former LGO under Adekunle was build into divisional strength at Escravos, Midwestern region of Nigeria. The nonsensical talk of neutrality from certain quarters is foolish at best.

you do understand Obasanjo is a military engineer just like Buhari is a transport and logistic specialist and this men were trained in the best military college in UK, in case you also dont know this about Obasanjo, has a federal commissioner of works he built many standard roads, on of them being the current west african road from lagos to benin and the rest of west africa

kindly read about obasanjo's victory, how hs team dislodged Ojukwus macinery and capture his makeshift refinery in portharcourt subsequently weakening ojukwus men hence their retreat

This is plain ridiculous. Which military engineer? Obasanjo was trained as a mechanic in Indian army military installation. Obasanjo did not attend any military engineering school or undertook any course for such a subject matter.
