I just received our nepa bill today; to make the matter worst our daily energy consumption is capped at four(4) hours daily since November 2019.
Since January this year; our bill have not exceeded N1800; but i was suprised to see the amount at N4975.85 in this critical situation of lockdown.

Two months free electricity
grin
It is not tangible, 2 months equals 60 days i.e 1440 hours now looking at the epileptic power supply nation wide can the discos guarantee at least 1000 hours of uninterrupted supply to truly ease the discomfort of Nigerians or are they just going to make mouth and leave us to mitigate our situation with generators?

(NEPA aka AEDC just wizzed the light as I was typing. TYPICAL)

I work in the power industry. Knowing fully well how the business is run, the federal government cannot just go ahead and issue free electricity statement to Nigerians without their plans to pay the discos. Mind you, the federal government take up to 50% of money made by the discos monthly. Transmission is there, Gencos are there leaving the discos with just about 25% of revenue made.

Due to the lockdown, discos had to make plans for staffs to sleep within the offices so as to be able to respond to complaints of faults. I know of a disco that is making a fault crew to stay on duty for 4 days and nights after which another crew will take over duty for same number of days and nights just to clear faults if there is complaints from customers. Such staffs have to be paid.

Ok, on the other hand, will the government just assume responsibility for payment of salaries for those two months? Canada is paying even foreigners living in their country up to 2,000 CAD(N525,000) monthly to stay at home. In fact ehnn, I regret reasons why I didn't take travel matter seriously because the people at the helm of affairs in our country have no plans for us except for their pockets.

Are they supposed to be discussing this issue self? They are supposed to just ask the discos not to bill Nigerians for those two months and just ask for Naira Value of energy delivered and just pay same. I weep for my country no be small.

I knew that the earlier statement was a farce and DISCOS knew they were looking for excuse for Nigerians for poor performance, rather let the Federal government pay DISCos their huge debt so that they can refurbished their Equipments.Shame in both sides.Nigerians are suffering in darkness!!!

I think the Discos pushed for this policy, knowing that they were going to shortchange both government and their consumers. But alas! FG had to quickly shot it down. Where the money to pay for power nationwide
