I am looking for a plot of land specifically and directly facing either Elebu Road or Akala Express. Also on Abeokuta/Ibadan road (also directly facing this road), preferable just before Command or anywhere after outbound towards Omi Adio.

Thanks guys.

I dislike pvc, but it appears cheaper than asbestos.
I am yet to do a market survey, but heard 1 board is 1.2m x 1.2m about 3k.
Have not measured the area, but sitting rm is 14 x 12ft, 3 br 12 x 12ft, toilet kitchen, bathroom 8ft x 8ft.
Veranda has 3 sections 10ft x 7ft, 10ft x 7ft and 16ft x 7ft.
Can someone give me a fair cost for labour and materials.

Also electrical wiring, whats a fair figure for workmanship..

Wow, almost 4.6m spent just to get to that stage.

I didn't want to quote the original post for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, like you said it could vary with location but at least gives one an idea.

I suspect ypur neighbours own failed cos of overloading.
He probablly had only 4 batteries and put ac on it.
8 x 12v x 200ah batteries is the minimum size of batteey you shud have b4 thinking of ac.

Its like using 2001 camry to tow a truck, it will tow the truck ok, but be prepared To replace gear box and or engine after that

My 4th inverter got damaged because my in-law decided to try pressing iron on it.

The inverter (Mercury) blew. But my latest inverter will trip off and put a message on the screen.

A lot of people do overload their system.
I’ve had 3 since 8 years ago and added the 4th one 2018 without major issues.

This brings up another interesting point.

Owners needs to pay attention to solar equipment more than a generator. For gen you just change oil and you're done, maybe air filter once in a while. But for solar you need to watch the alarms and interpret, monitor the harvesting, for lead acid batteries top up the water, etc Not daunting but those that just install the solar system and forget about it usually have issues.

The cheap inverters might not have overload protection, battery level monitoring, etc and the reason why I like hybrid inverters is that if push comes to show you can always fire your gen to charge the batteries. Nothing kills a battery faster than not properly charging them or letting them run down to zero.

This is completely true.

I once had issues with my generator. It was not charging the batteries. It was the inverter that showed me that the current supplied by the generator is too low.

The generator was still making the usual noise grin grin

Pls what brand did u buy that hv lasted this long. My neighbor bought panels and inverter that carries Ac and fridge but it never last up to 6months . Pls any recommendation on brand .

Good day.
As for what happened to your neighbour this is as a result of either of the following or even both.
1) Use of inferior materials
2) Lack of proper system sizing.

Sorry, this might be a long one but, you will surely get value from it.

1) As we all know just like every other aspect of life there are fake materials out there in the market thanks to Chinko products (very good Chinko dey ooo) and is not really easy to identify some of the fake ones, it only takes a professional to be able to identify them.
Sometimes the home-owner looking for cheaper products end up falling into the hands of hungry solar installers and at the end, they get those inferior materials for them because they are looking for money. Before you know what is happening and in the shortest period of time everything fails. Thus, bringing about pain, regret and frustration.
These types of unsatisfied customers are the ones that end up preaching the gospel of solar being a scam and a waste of money.

Note: The pain of a poor job will always overshadow a cheap price.

2) And the other reason is the lack of proper solar system sizing. every component of solar energy is meant to sized properly starting from the solar panels, the inverter the solar battery, charger controller the size of wire and even protective breaker. Once any component is not properly sized that solar installation is bound to fail, so what really happened to your neighbour is that his system was not really sized well. Once it runs on an undersized battery or panel the system will fail.

Let's take for instance what your system is meant to carry is 4 batteries from the sizing done using some design calculation, rather you end up using just 2 batteries. These 2 batteries will be overworked and thus making it to fail within a short time.
Batteries are not supposed to be drained down to 0% in good system sizing. Batteries are supposed to be drained up to 50% and the remaining batteries are doing the other work because there is provision for backup.
So what really happened to your Neighbour is that there was no proper system sizing so the batteries were draining and no sufficient charges from the solar panel. Probably what is even charging up the battery from the solar panel is not even up to what is being drained from the battery, so that will make the batteries week. It will work very well in the first few months and that is the end.

So to properly size a system some calculations are being carried out, and that can be done by taking into cognizance the loads to be used in the house and not the size of the house (two bedrooms flat, three rooms and polour) as some persons feel.

I believe this really clear some issues.

Solar is really an investment with high ROI (return on investment). These is because it will take off the cost of buying fuel and paying for energy, stress, gen noise and carbon emission, thus keeping your family safe. But note it takes a while and can be achieved when handled by a professional solar engineer and not anyhow installers out here.

Thank you.
For any advice, you can check my signature and DM for help, consultation, quotes or any solar related issues

Engr. Chinedu.

Interlock Updates: Concrete Pigments

You can by natural color concrete pigments to your concrete to produce a natural stone color or other decorative colorations.

I’m using red oxide and black for this project. 1kg bag is sold N1,300 and it can produce about 10sqm of stone.

#brabusinterlockDIY

It has been a while since my last update on the interlocking project. We already got over 260sqm of 8cm interlocking bricks ready onsite.

it's not a function of the brand Sir.

It's a function of your usage in my opinion. The average Nigerian will typically waste or be extravagant especially when the price is not commensurate with usage.

With Solar inverter you become conscious of your usage depending on your KVA. Higher KVA you don't need to be. The brand is what I don't know.

I haven’t worked with him before but I don’t think that should stop you from contracting him for your survey.

All the artisans and suppliers on this platform have not met or work with most of their clients before. We just do it with faith and trusting that all will be well.

With his contributions here so far, I believe he’ll do a good job.

Discuss a good payment plan with him and let’s have your feedback after the job.
Ensure he’s easily accessible anytime needed. I once engage a surveyor from Ogun state to work on a project in Lagos, it wasn’t a sweet experience.

Thank you sir/ma’am.

Its a no brainer using generator in this day and age by an avg nigerian.
I detest gen noise.

Part of the reason is that the renewable energy biz juust like other sectors in nigeria is unregulated.
Clowns fronting as installerrs, who make a mess of things, making people to believe solar doesnt work.

My folks the in the village has been hving 247 light since 2013 or so all thanks to solar, as phcn is non existent there.
4 batts, 8 panels, 1.5kva inverter.
Fridge runs 8am to 4.30pm daily, controlled by timer socket

@ 20ft container, am interested as well, prices am seeing are quite discouraging, plus transport cost. As lagos seems to be the epicenter
