But OP if they had rebuilt the original structure anew. There will be no point for people like you to visit as there won't be anything monumental about it. Maybe something else could have been done to preserve the structure sha |

Normally I don't reply this kind of comments And I have come to understand that most Nigerians don't read or watch a video before they comment. If you had watched the video may be you would have had better understanding. You need to take a chill pill , this life is not hard. Go check all my post. I have always focused on the better side. But when things are bad we should also say it once in a while. Adebowale352: 1 Like |

If they don't maintain it in few years time it will become a ruin and it's past glory all lost. They can at least cover the roofs , leave it the way it is without painting it. So that people can appreciate it's ancient beauty. kenddys: |

The primary school attended - egbado south local government primary, ilobi yewa South Local Government Area ilaro, ogun state -sincere 1996 was totally abandoned. The area doesn't feel the impact of the government. Na inside one room with leaking roof primary one to six are conducting their classes. |

Re: The Pathetic State Of The First Primary School In Nigeria -video by travelwaka: 3:26pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
Hello,I never said it was in use? It's the first primary in Nigeria for crying out loud, should it be in this state? Plus if you had watched the video you'd realise that I stated clearly that there is a new and modern building. I do not like the fact that most of us here don't read the full context or watch a video before commenting. Maintaining this building wouldn't cost the government so much. Just to make it a good tourist location. yinka20: |

travelwaka: This shudnt be abandoned bt for history sake it’s good and maybe necessary to preserve and maintain it in its natural structure and form. That doesn’t mean it shud be abandoned tho. |

Thank you God bless you. This is exactly my point , I don't know why most people try to make every issue in Nigeria look like you are against the government. This is the cradle of Nigerian education. It should be a tourist centre where people can visit just to learn about the history of Nigerian education Ikidons: |
Re: The Pathetic State Of The First Primary School In Nigeria -video by viyon02: 3:31pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
Ikidons:the old buildings are not longer in use, maybe the state government have something else in mind for the old buildings, but we have new buildings and modern buildings in the school. Don't forget the school was use for covid 19 isolation center and some of the new building were used for that purpose. |
Re: The Pathetic State Of The First Primary School In Nigeria -video by travelwaka: 3:35pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
It should be a tourist centre, that place should be made a tourist attraction. Converted to a education museum , Imagine students from all over the country coming there for excursion. The condition is even bad as that building could collapse at any time, it's not even safe for the students in the school. They already have a more modern structure for learning. But this needs attention too. Obagreatdatoye: |

travelwaka:Unattended yet still in use? you contradict yourself in your last statements and questions. Is.nt it a good thing that it still exists today as a school? The fact that it has new building in place of the old is also a good one . Or were you expecting them to still be in the old bamboo/mud/thatched house so that you can have the chance to come and shout shame on nigeria?. Why is it so difficult to satisfy people of your kind ? Show us a house of the same age from your village that you personally renovated and lets compare it with the schools own and see what you are talking about ? People talking rubbish from time immemorial |
Re: The Pathetic State Of The First Primary School In Nigeria -video by travelwaka: 3:40pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
You obviously didn't read thr post or watch the video. Nobody is saying they should put students in this building. My response was to someone that said it should be left the way it is. I said it can be maintained while it still retains it's old ancient look. To be used as a tourist attraction. That's what I meant, hope you understand now medokills: |

travelwaka:I was going to subscribe to your Channel but I don’t like people who mislead others just to get views. You conveniently didn’t talk about the adjacent modern building in use and created a false impression just to attract already frustrated Nairalanders using negative reviews. |

Did you watch the video?? You'd know that I mentioned that there is a new and modern building in place. How did I mislead people? Is that not the first school in Nigeria? The new building isn't the first primary school building. Go back and check all my other post. I have never post any negative review or mislead people. I don't care about the Traffic. The fact is the first primary school in Nigeria is in a pathetic state and deserves the government attention. My goal is to promote tourist attractions in Nigeria. I don't create post for traffic, I create post to enlighten people. olujastro: 1 Like |

MemoriesAndMe:What a myopic and dumb post. Gosh!! Jerusalem wouldn't be a place of tourist attraction if the leaders there reason like this... A place, a building can be renovated to modern standard and not lose its historical touch and feel. |
Re: The Pathetic State Of The First Primary School In Nigeria -video by PHAYOL81: 4:01pm On Dec 30, 2020 |
Even as the Op gave us half-truth, we should also admit the commissioner for education and that of tourism should sit at a table to discuss how to make that place a tourist attraction. The building should be seperated from the new ones but no renovation should be done on it other than giving the surrounding a facelift: plant trees and flowers in the newly-fenced historic site, beautify the environment outside too, create a modern tour-guide in the premises, create a classic children section, allow a couple of refreshment stands, put plastic signs/symbols on walls to signify/separate the (grade of) classes away from the staff rooms/quarters and the administrative offices et all. Then, they can promote it like other attraction in the town. My take. |

travelwaka:It seems you do not know that most of them have the IQ of a fish. In European countries, they keep these structures as "Monumental heritage". These buildings are maintained in line with the original building's standards and materials. That is why they still have churches that are 500-700 years old and still look great even today. I see the points you are trying to make in the video, and they are very informed. |
