Politics / Re: "See The Men Who Imported The Pump Action Rifles Found In A Container In Lagos". by Stormofsword: 1:21pm On Jan 31, 2017
ChangeIsCostant:
The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) intercepted 661 pieces of pump-action rifles from China, concealed with steel doors and other merchandise goods, which came in through Lagos port. Pictured are the suspects; Mr Oscan Okafor (an importer), Mr Mahmud Haruna (a clearing agent), Mr Sadique Mustapha (accompanying the consignment to its destination).

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Retired Col. Hameed Alli, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on Monday in Lagos.

Alli said that the Federal Operations Unit, while on patrol, intercepted a Mark truck with registration number BUG 265 XG conveying a 40ft container with the number; PONU/825914/3 along Mile 2 Apapa Road, Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the consignment was cleared from Lagos port.

The comptroller-general said the truck was immediately taken to F.O.U. premises for physical examination and 49 boxes containing 661 pieces of pump action rifles concealed with steel doors were revealed.

Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2017/01/see-men-who-imported-pump-action-rifles.html

Every government security agency that conducted a search on the container and passed it for clearance should be probed. They should be sacked from top to bottom particularly those that work in Apapa port. There is no way they wont know about it.
Politics / Re: Magu’s Confirmation: Court Orders Service Of Processes On FG, Senate by Stormofsword: 9:59am On Jan 24, 2017
Nice one from Bar Adegboruwa. We need to ensure the FedGov and everyone in the country respect our constitution and rule of law.

The FedGov need to be smart with issues surrounding Magu's confirmation. Magu does not need to be EFCC Chairman to deal with corrupt individuals. In fact, he will be able to cutoff all the bureaucracies of prosecuting corrupt people and institutions as a director rather than a chairman. All the FedGov need to do is bring him down a level and ensure who ever that is going to be confirmed as the chairman of EFCC is a like mind with Magu.

I am a supporter of every laudable policies and decisions of this administration and I criticize every bad and wrong ones they make.

Nigeria an be great again if we focus on issues and put our strength, which is our population and diversity, behind what we desire as a people.

Let Us make Nigeria Great.

Culture / Re: Ooni Ogunwusi Celebrates 1 Year On Throne. Obasanjo, Soyinka, Igbinedion Attend by Stormofsword: 5:09pm On Dec 08, 2016
FSBoperator:

No Mr. Soyinka, you are the troll.

I read Soyinka's latest rants "WOLEXIT" first published by Sahara Reporters in response to clamour from Nigerians online for him to stick to his earlier vow of destroying his American Green Card if Donald Trump won and I must say I was really appalled not with Wole Soyinka but for myself having held any respect for this man over the years.

In his self grandiose delusions, Soyinka took us on an unnecessary voyage down memory lane recalling all his travels and immigration brouhas since his student years detailing his dissatisfaction and self blacklisting of several other countries which out of both ongoing political and personal grieviances with their immigration services requirement (Australia) imposed a self ban on visiting those countries fortunate not to have the fraud arrive their shores.

It didn't just stop there. Wole Soyinka had the audacity to state that when he made that vow to destroy his American Green Card, he made it among civilized and fellow educated people in far away US and not for the pesky trolls of nigerian cyberspace. How pompous can this man be?

Wole will round up his rants directing those same dismissed Nigerian "Internet trolls" to get an education stating that people like myself who demanded that he keep his word major problems' was ignorance and lack of education.

Well Mr, Wole Soyinka, it appears that you pointless rants in WOLEXIT was actually directed to those same "uneducated Nigerian Internet trolls" who kept reminding you to do the honorable action of keeping to your words. Your civilized oyinbo compatriots in whose midst you made that vow, will not ask you to follow up on your promise to destroy your green card but you can bet they will be observing and taking notes on your lack of credibility on living up to your own words.

As a Nigerian, I expect some one of your age and (dubious) academic background to at least do the honorable thing instead of directing all your frustration on your fellow Nigerians who you have deemed trolls. And for your info, it is widely regarded on the Internet as a golden rule never to respond to trolls. But in your latest rants, you angst seem to be towards those trolls as you never bothered to even address the fundamental issue which was for you to keep to your vow.

For the accusation and generalization of all of us who demanded you keep to your own words, to which you described us as "uneducated", I believe the last election has proven who really the uneducated buffon is and that happens to be you because in your aproko cheerleading of Hilary Clinton you forgot to factor critical political indices other than useless MSM churned bullsh1t polls. The same MSMs which you based your confidence to vow to destroy your green card if the inevitable Trump presidency arises has since began apologizing for their bias and lack of objective reporting.

Also, you termed us "busybodies" who should mind our business as you never made that vow to we "uneducated trolls" in Nigeria, I wondered then Wetin come concern you with US election? Last I checked you are not an American citizen or even remotely a politician back in Nigeria so wetin come be your own? Who gave you the sole right to comment on American affairs? To even add to your level of aprokoism, you were the lone voice from Nigeria to make a self committing statement over the likelihood of the American elections? No be over aproko be that?

I also want to let you know Mr Soyinka that your fellow oyibos who vowed to do whatever demeaning act if Trump won have begun keeping up to their words. See the CNN pollster who vowed to eat bugs on live TV if Trump won. Well he has lived up to his own words.

So instead of acting like a trolled old fool insulting young Nigerians who are young enough to be your grandkids kindly tear your green card or forever shut dah hell up.

How old are you again?

What amazed me the most about him was that he knew the streets so well that he could walk around unaccompanied.[/quote

Thank you very much @neptu2 and @gurlfriend for this insightful article and contributions.

One thing I have learned reading this is that we have loads intelligent old generations from whom I can learn from. I used to think that people on Nairaland are all young with a lot of hot blood running through our veins with the ease with which we show lack of respect for one another, family, tribe and even the country that binds us together.

I wish to say more grease to your elbow sir. May we live long and age with grace to tell younger generations how bad it used to be. I won't like to tell my children how nice it used to be cos it ain't right now.

To everyone else, please let's try to show more respect to one another's ethnic group, political affiliations and opinion. We can always get our own opinion across without disrespecting one another. It's impossible for everyone to see things same way every time.

Remember respect begets respect.

Buhari Orders Arrest Of Close Ally, Mohammed Umar, For Blackmail & Extortion

According to Premium Times, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the arrest of a key man in the panel investigating the mismanagement of public funds meant for the war against Boko Haram, Mohammed Umar, after receiving damning reports that he was himself involved in alleged money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.

Despite being his close ally and loyalist, Buhari okayed the arrest of Umar after reading reports showing that Umar, a retired Air Force officer, ran a secret blackmailing and extortion cartel. Security and presidency sources told PT that Umar was arrested last week as operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) raided his Abuja home. Those familiar with the matter said before moving against the retired officer, the Director General of the SSS, Lawal Daura, met with Buhari where he tabled reports suggesting that the panel member had been busy using the name of the president and other top officials of the administration to intimidate, extort and blackmail individuals and businesses.
“The president became worried and jittery when he was confronted with the way a man he trusted had been behaving,” a presidency source said. “So he ordered that he should be picked up while the allegations against him are thoroughly investigated.”
Security sources said that documents seized from Mr. Umar’s residence during a raid on June 19 included classified documents from the president’s office, details of government transactions from the Central Bank of Nigeria, and details of bank transactions belonging to the office of the NSA.

A document containing details of disbursements made to the Nigerian armed forces and security agencies was also recovered during the raid. Umar retired as an air commodore in the Nigerian Air Force in January 2014. While in service, he headed the Air Force’s Holding Company as well as the Air Force Properties Limited.

Surprisingly, he retired into enormous wealth, officials involved in the investigations said. Currently, he has six companies, including a private jet company with a fleet size of 10 aircraft, officials said. Security sources also said he is also one of Abuja’s biggest property owners.

“Many top government functionaries live in his houses in Abuja,” a source said. “He also has properties in Dubai and London.”

Ally or double agent?
Umar became a close ally of President Buhari shortly after the 2015 elections. Armed with a cache of information on Nigeria’s security contracts during the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan, he soon became a key figure in the president’s investigative committee on arms procurement.

In fact, “he suggested most members of the panel,” another presidential disclosed. Investigators said Umar’s swift rise to relevance in President Buhari’s administration was beginning to raised concerns regarding whether the new administration failed to conduct a thorough background check on him, or simply ignored the man’s past.

Officials said Mr. Umar was one of the first military officers to be arrested by the EFCC just years after the anti-graft agency was established, during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration. He was detained for salary and procurement fraud in the Air Force, but the matter was later handed over to the military for trial, PT gathered from those familiar with the matter.

The sources said Umar was compelled to make refunds, and the matter was brushed aside allowing the man to return to the force. Multiple officials told PT that Umar’s stupendous wealth has always confounded several of his colleagues.

“As far back as 20 years ago, when his annual salary couldn’t afford a car, Mr. Umar had a private jet,” one source said.
Married to the daughter of a former Nigerian petroleum minister, Rilwan Lukman, Mr. Umar ran local and international businesses while he served in the Nigerian Air Force, one source said.

Cash Only
According to court documents seen by PT, Umar carried out his recent deals in cash only. Despite owning a private jet company and multiple real estates across the world, the total amount traced to his bank accounts was only N165million. But the value of currencies evacuated from one of his homes during the raid was at least N300million.

Security officials believe he received the cash payments – in breach of the money laundering law. Investigators are also trying to determine if the cash were proceeds of illicit deals and influence peddling.

Those close to claim that part of the cash taken from Mr. Umar’s home were payments for services rendered by his private jet company, Easy Jet Integrated Services Limited – from two cargo flights from Nairobi to Houston and Nairobi to Hong Kong. Investigators working to verify the claims

Other properties seized from the retired officer’s home during the raid includes:
13 luxury cars – One Range Rover, two Rolls Royce, two Bentleys, one BMW 7-series, one Mercedes 5550, one Lexus Sports, one Audi R8 and one Porsche Panamera GTs.As of Monday, Umar was still held at the State Security Service detention centre in Abuja as security officials continued with investigations into the matter. The scope of his case is so serious that it’s now under the National Security Adviser.
