My primary school mate just got convicted in the USA for 36 months.

It had to do with money laundering, aza man issues about 200k USD.

He has a green card but not a citizen.

He has been in the USA since 2017.

He has 2 kids he gave birth to there with naija wife.


He impregnated an akata, akata oyibo woman gave birth while he was in prison because he was already in detention till the court conviction last week.


WILL HE BE DEPORTED after serving his jail terms?



Deportation is one of the most common immigration proceedings that non-citizens can face. Illegal immigrants can be deported (removed) when they no longer have the authority to remain in the country due to expired visas, illegal entry, and other violations.

But can green card holders also be deported?

Immigrants who have obtained a green card can live and work in the U.S. on a permanent basis. Although green cards give immigrants permanent legal status, it does not exempt them from being deported in certain cases.

The following will help you understand why green card holders can be deported and how you can protect your legal rights in immigration courts.

Deportation and Immigration Law
Like all citizens, green card holders must abide by U.S. laws. But for these residents, legal violations can lead to deportation depending on the circumstances of each case.

According to U.S. law, any non-citizen may be subject to removal. In some cases, green card holders applying for U.S. citizenship can face deportation as a result of discoveries made during background checks.

But non-citizens are more commonly deported due to criminal activities including the violation of immigration laws.

Crimes That Lead to Deportation for Green Card Holders
In most cases, deportation proceedings are levied against immigrants who have committed crimes of moral turpitude or those classified as aggravated felonies.

There are additional criminal violations that may also lead to the deportation of green card holders.

Crimes of moral turpitude consist of the intent to harm other individuals or their property, theft, fraud, and larceny. Domestic abuse and driving under the influence may also fall under this classification.

In order for green card holders to be deported, crimes of moral turpitude must have been committed within the 5-year period following their admission into the U.S.

Committing two or more criminal acts of moral turpitude at any time after a non-citizen has been admitted into the U.S. may also lead to removal proceedings for green card holders.

Aggravated felonies include drug trafficking, murder, rape, money laundering, sexual abuse against minors, perjury, and other crimes.

Conviction of an aggravated felony will result in deportation. More importantly, convicted non-citizens won’t be allowed to re-enter the United States.

Legal Protection Against Deportation
Green card holders who violate U.S. laws aren’t removed immediately. This gives immigrants a chance to protect their legal rights in immigration courts.

Some cases may allow you to obtain a waiver that grants legal forgiveness. Defendants must apply for this waiver, and your immigration attorney can help you determine its availability as well as other potential strategies for your protection.

Green card holders have the legal authority to reside in the United States. Although this provides some level of protection against removal, it doesn’t mean that these non-citizens can’t be deported.

Understanding the reasons why green card holders may be deported is the first step in securing your legal status in the U.S. Consulting with an experienced immigration attorney gives you the resources you need to protect you and your family’s wellbeing.

Most planes especially newly acquired planes are leased or rented. By the way, nothing is bad in doing so. Its cost effective for some and for those with money they buy new and sell later to smaller countries or airlines. Do your researches before judging.

I think we should talk about how they want to commission it before Buhari's exit. In my opinion, they wont start any operation until later in the year.

With the recent news that dollars is going to be deemphasized and might probably lose values, I'm beginning to think twice about my relocation move. My uncle that recently came back from the US gave me $5000 to do business and I initially thought about using this money to move abroad.

I'm not like an average Nigerian who get carried away with "there are good road and 99hr power supply abroad". When I travel, I'm going there to go and make money not to count ceiling and take hot picture for the Instagram and to pepper people at home.

If dollars get decentralized and $1 = about #250, thouh this development will not go well with people abroad since they'll have fear that the little they send home will no longer be able to surprise anyone, and their usual conversion strategy will no longer work. But on the other hand, this move will help people in Nigeria as there won't be that much of a difference between someone earning #500,000 in Nigeria and the one earning $3000 abroad

Dont let Dollar issue stop you from traveling. Nothing will happen to Dollar. Do you think is just sitting and looking?

Being that she just gave birth, it could be postpartum depression. Have you really sat down to discuss what her problem is? She must have given you reasons at least, even what you call none tangible, you can start from there. Try and convince her to attend marriage counselling or talk to her respected religious leader if she has one. If she doesn't agree to all these, there's really no point in forcing her to stay with you. Even the attitudes she would give you might make you regret forcing her back. As for the baby, choose based on the best environment for the child. Would you really have the time to be attentive to that delicate child, is the child still being breast fed. There are many things to consider in childcare. It's not as easy as it seems, even with the presence of a nanny.

Hello house,

My mom had an experience as a Nigerian citizen returning to Nigeria recently. She did covid19 test and it was *negative*. Before boarding plane to Nigeria, she was required to fill a form and generate a bar code. To get the bar code she must pay approx. #100k( for unvaccinated and #50k for vaccinated travelers) before she can be allowed into her country of birth and residence. I do understand the need for people and country to monitor anyone coming into its country but why such a huge burden on its citizen going back to her motherland?
What happens if someone is cash trapped? Or an elderly person with no funds to pay for 2 covid19 tests despite being declared negative from abroad? Are we as a country shooting ourselves on the foot, because, if many tourist or foreigners find out the stress and fees to pay to get into the country, they could opt out for other tourist destinations. USA for example average 70k covid positive everyday and foreigners are not subjected to this kind of stress, just enter with a negative result and when leaving USA, go for a free test.
Please, correct me if am getting something wrong here but as a Nigerian, it doesnt make sense to do another test when i was declared negative and returning to my country of residence. Is this another way to enrich testing centers? or are we making our already corrupt Immigration officers, more corrupt?

I dont see how PDP or anyone will win the hearts of market women, NURTW, and co. These are the Tinubu's base. Alimosho is one of his strongest hold and its controlled and managed for him by Aregbesola even when he was gov of Osun. Lagos Island and Lagos central can hardly be won by PDP, maybe after Tinubu is gone. He maybe losing grip but i dont think he lose Lagos so soon esp when APC has retained the Federal power. Go for medical check up. Possibly, the doctor may ask you to do urine test. Am suspecting UTI(urinary tract infection). Dont be scared, its treatable. If you cant afford Doctor check up, try get cranberry supplement, it helps fight the bacteria. But i will insist on seeing Dr cos there maybe other issues you dont know.

Nothing, they already have their US birth certs and nothing will also happen to those about to be born in US, Dont be discouraged. Very difficult to change laws in US. Ordinary obamacare he couldnt change, he now wants to change a law of over 1 century

President Trump plans to sign an executive order that would remove the right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and unauthorized immigrants born on U.S. soil, he said yesterday in an exclusive interview for "Axios on HBO," a new four-part documentary news series debuting on HBO this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Why it matters: This would be the most dramatic move yet in Trump's hardline immigration campaign, this time targeting "anchor babies" and "chain migration." And it will set off another stand-off with the courts, as Trump’s power to do this through executive action is debatable to say the least.

Trump told "Axios on HBO" that he has run the idea of ending birthright citizenship by his counsel and plans to proceed with the highly controversial move, which certainly will face legal challenges.

"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said, declaring he can do it by executive order.

When told that's very much in dispute, Trump replied: "You can definitely do it with an Act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order."

"We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits," Trump continued. "It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end." "It's in the process. It'll happen ... with an executive order."

The president expressed surprise that "Axios on HBO" knew about his secret plan: "I didn't think anybody knew that but me. I thought I was the only one. "

Behind the scenes: "Axios on HBO" had been working for weeks on a story on Trump’s plans for birthright citizenship, based on conversations with several sources, including one close to the White House Counsel’s office.

The legal challenges would force the courts to decide on a constitutional debate over the 14th Amendment, which says:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Be smart: Few immigration and constitutional scholars believe it is within the president's power to change birthright citizenship, former U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services chief counsel Lynden Melmed tells Axios.

But some conservatives have argued that the 14th Amendment was only intended to provide citizenship to children born in the U.S. to lawful permanent residents — not to unauthorized immigrants or those on temporary visas. John Eastman, a constitutional scholar and director of Chapman University's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, told "Axios on HBO" that the Constitution has been misapplied over the past 40 or so years. 

He says the line "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" originally referred to people with full, political allegiance to the U.S. — green card holders and citizens.

Michael Anton, a former national security official in the Trump administration, recently took up this argument in the Washington Post.

Anton said that Trump could, via executive order, "specify to federal agencies that the children of noncitizens are not citizens" simply because they were born on U.S. soil. (It’s not yet clear whether Trump will take this maximalist argument, though his previous rhetoric suggests there’s a good chance.)

But others — such as Judge James C. Ho, who was appointed by Trump to Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, in New Orleans — say the line in the amendment refers to the legal obligation to follow U.S. laws, which applies to all foreign visitors (except diplomats) and immigrants. 

He has written that changing how the 14th Amendment is applied would be "unconstitutional."

14th amendment of US constitution cannot be strike out/down by ordinary executive order, not even the house or senate can do something about it so fast. Pure lies. I have engineering degree but working in a financial institution. The only thing i noticed is they may consider their citizen ahead of you. US and Canada really need skilled workers. With your degree and relevant certification, you can get jobs.

This is pure rubbish. Never get discouraged at relocating to anywhere of your choice. There could be discrimination, you could get low skills jobs at the beginning but i bet its worth it if you have kids cos they will be getting the best education and could in future get the best jobs any where in the world. Dont let anyone deter your dreams. Some make it some dont. As naija boy, if you are hardworking, you will make it. I used to do 3 jobs but today i do one and pay my bills. The first few years are quiet difficult but you can make it if you dont relent in your efforts. Where did Nigerians in diaspora see $22B they sent home last year? It's hard work and not discouragement. NEVER LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU.
