To set the record straight for those that care to read:
If you or ur wife is pregnant and coming to the US, you are entitled to a free health care because you are a green card holder and even after when you start working you will still be covered but when one start making enough money the services will be subsidised or the organisation you work for will cover you and your family on the health insurance.
Pls do not digest everything that is been post on this forum, dont be lazy to do your research and ask your host any questions and if you dont want to you can walk to any hospital or social services office and ask how you can apply because you aready qualify.
For the record; when i came to the US, my wife was pregnant and my host took my wife to the closest social services to apply, it was approved and till date i did not a dollar.

I live here in California and my sister in-law is 5 months heavy,she's paying so much here even with medical insurance in one of the best hospitals here in Torrance. By the way she's a full citizen.

Stop misinforming people my brother,try find out from your sister very well before you conclude.Its free in texas and all over USA for pregnant women with GC to give birth hear.I have applied for free medicals and spoke with the customer care many times,they keep asking me if wife is pregnant i should let them know.Even the medicaid i signed for my baby(CHIP-Cook's children plan),i have a document that states what women will benefit for free if they are pregnant.Funny enough,the person i know whose wife gave birth months back did so in california(same state u reside)and it was freeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I am glad you acknowledged her need to apply for insurance. Depending on the state, every application got a standard procedure and waiting period. Applying for medical insurance entails making a down payment, that payment is sustained monthly as long as she intends to keep enjoying free or subsidized cost of medical treatment. From what i understand, that lady is due for delivery. Lol!

your GC is being processed by the embassy and you cant have until you enter US

If you try to develop personally and visit a school/college/career development center etc., some of these institutions are interested in just locking you in to get you financial aid. Please be careful with any school you commit to. Example, borrowing 20.000 dollars to go on a one year program will leave you paying for student loan for 10 years. So please invest in programs that will bring good returns both monetary and personal development.

according to my cousin, low income earner and have stayed in US for one year get financial aid from govt with little or nothing to pay back.Thats why i keep telling guys to get a job first,settle down and plan school after one year.

Just as Australians do when they land, get into a hotel for two days and use those to get an apartment. The problem is we emigrate with virtually nothing and expect host to cater for all ur concerns. Hosts are humans and their orientation has changed.
