I taught myself programming. I started with C#. Back then I wanted to create a game like FIFA and an antivirus. I thought it was easy. I read a lot of tutorials and books, I never used videos like we all do now. Google has been good to me.

GraphicsPlus: You have 14k? Good. What did you do to get the 14k? I advice you keep doing it and keep saving. Stop asking for financial assistance online. You can always learn programming at a cyber cafe until you get a laptop. At 14 years, you are not yet matured to be on a public forum, talk less of asking for financial assistance.

You are jobless. Why can't you just ignore the post? You are looking to be popular again. If you were answering questions on SO like you create unwanted replies it would have been better.

As usually, I get bored and stop working on stuffs and then find some probably lame reasons to justify it. Here are the reasons

1. Something else came up :p
2. Everyone is going mobile. Social plugins don't work there
3. Bad project management skills

GideonG: I am a self thought programmer, but I might do 2years Aptech course in they future just to improve and see the other side of the coin

If you are already good, Aptech wont make you better. Your only benefit would be the certificates/foreign degree. Plus you get to be treated like a code god like they do me (even though I aint close to being one)

Oh i thought u were coming with this batch, 8 months no problem all the best in android and games, though you should look at Project Havok and Unreal engines for making games 3D and also Unity.

I wish I could just leave right now. Aptech bores me now. Currently doing .Net and I just "hate" it. If I were to get really serious with 3D game development, I would go with Unity. It is just awesome

pc guru: you don't need money to develop unless uploading your application, you guys have inspired me, i gave up on android dev to focus on work, but seeing my brothers are doing stuff, i think its time to re-evaluate. @worldbest when you dey show ?

Bro, if you mean Aptech then I still get like 8 months left. I'm still reading and practicing various android concepts. Currently, I am familiarizing myself with the animation system. Soon I would start learning to write games on android as its the only area I think one could really be unique. Lately, most social apps are just similar.

Anybody attacking GraphicsPlus for saying the truth have another thing in his/her mind. I seldom post on Niaraland because I have many important things to do and posting on this forum is far far down the list. But I have to reply to this seeing that GraphicsPlus just saw what I saw as well
This is what is eating Nigeria up today - dishonesty. Why cant my fellow Nigerians be honest? Why must we follow our fathers and uncle in political high places to keep lying to ourselves? Must we be as corrupt as those before us? See what Nigeria is turned to because of lying and cheating. Can't we stop this? Can't we inspire our younger ones and children who are looking unto us? I have seen many members of Nairaland who create a new post like - hello fellow Nairalanders, this is my latest work. I will be glad if you take a look at this for me. is this simple, honest and honorable? Why must we give on to Publicity stunt?I know my fellow Nigerians who are hard working and honest and I believe God will honor their hard works and honesty at their own time.
And a fellow Nigerian said we should mind our business and yes, that's what we are doing and we are seriously being labelled as scammmers because of foolishness of fellow Nigerians.Minding of our business, that's exactly what we are doing and our ogas at the top are milking Nigeria, after all it's not our business.
This reminds me of a post by someone here which I actually read some time ago,a domain name that was bought $10,000. Ten thousand dollars. That's over N1.5M. That post almost made me to heat my head on a wall.I hail you my fellow Nigerians. And fyi my 6years old nephew is developing a website that will give Facebook a run for their money grin

Screw ur nephew cheesy

GraphicsPlus: Then that is where I come in. There must be some level of sanity here. He should have started by saying that this is his startup and that he got mentioned on techmoran and that we should check it out. It's not telling us that he culled it from techmoran and that he's new here. His lies will not solve anything. We have a way of knowing who is who. Even when you create a thread and then use another account to reply yourself, we have a way of knowing.

He has talked about this yolpe thing in this account: https://www.nairaland.com/howardriddle, and he has not stopped operating the account. It's even a sin to have two accounts on Nairaland. So he should even be banned for trying to spam on us.

You said you will change your age if it will take you out of poverty. No sir. It will deep you more into poverty. Age falsification has a way of disgracing someone and take off opportunities from him. Why will I say am 16 years just to score a useless point.

Well tell that to Mikel and the rest.

Why shouldn't he? He might have his reasons. If I post a lot of crazy/raw/"ashaworific" stuffs on the sexuality board and one day i create something cool and do not wish to be associated with my NL account, I would do same. I might also change my age too if it gets me out of poverty.
Webmasters / Re: 18 Year-old Nigerian Youth Launches Yolpe.com To Disrupt African Recruitment by worldbest(m): 8:12am On Aug 06, 2013
Why can't Nairalanders overlook simple stuffs that cannot hurt them. Bunch of conspiracy theorists just waiting for threads to call a lie. What is your business if he is 18 or not? I am pretty sure that most people who might comment may have decreased/increased their age just to suit various purpose (doesn't make it right). You want to start another Elvis-like conversation on someone's startup. You want to give it bad publicity on Google before it gains traction. Maybe its your new way of increasing popularity. Mind your business old man.

Come worldbest all the time you were in class and the lecturers didn,t come weren,t you practising on your own, the only good teacher there was Mr Emmanuel and he,s gone now, i blame the indian guys thwy don,t pay well thus making the incentive to teach harder, there was a time i skipped school for 2 months cuz it was just nothing but waiting for lecturer. Mr emmanuel was the best teacher there.

You are right. The teachers are below average. Always struggling to explain simple terms. I recent skipped for 2 weeks.
Programming / Re: Aptech Or University Route? Which Is Better? by worldbest(m): 10:30am On Jul 13, 2013
IMO, Aptech isn't a rip off. It all depends on what you are going there for. Some of us are already good but want a very good certificate from a reputable uni when we are done, some are there to really learn programming/networking and some are just there to waste time and get a certificate. I cannot tell you they have good teachers but I can tell you that they have good books. With the little understanding you get from the teachers coupled with your own private studies and research, you should have no problems. If you are the lazy type who just wants a teacher to teach you everything then you are screwed no matter where you choose to learn IT.

Finally, If you want a good certificate from a top uni, go to aptech. If you have been doing UTME for more than 4years without success, go to aptech. If you are in a Nigerian uni and you are sure you would fail when you graduate, quit that uni and enrol at aptec(very popular). If you want to waste daddies money and play multi-player games with a bunch of guys, go to aptech. But BEWARE, Girls are extremely scarce cheesy

Did you consider the fact that there could be several hundreds or even thousands of Nairaland members online at the same time?

Yep, There would be a limit to the number of conversations you can have opened (totally not the best idea, but just a temporary measure to prevent people from getting overwhelmed). You would be able to turn chat off so no one can see you online. Nothing in the first version will be permanent.
Programming / Re: Developing A Facebook-like Ticker For Nairaland by worldbest(m): 5:39pm On Mar 18, 2013
Brand_new: I think the chat thingy should work with people you're connected with I.e people you follow and who follow you back and not just people you follow or those following you because then you will be having privacy issues.

Right now, I want to keep it simple. Everybody would see everyone online until a followership feature is added. Like I said in my post, the first version will lack a lot of necessary features. But they would be added over time.

Had some setback while working on the conversation bar (the place where open conversations show up). I kind of thought it was so simple and but my own implementation was so unstable. Sometimes new conversation don't show up, sometimes they do but are hidden and some other behaviours. Right now, I am reimplementing it more carefully. Hope to complete it tonight when I get home.

Orpelin: after so much call & appeal for NL app, seems we are getting there now.

Pls where would be chat "contents" logs resides? Dont let it be in members profile file on NL but individual email address.
Also, strive & make the app as lite as possible.
Pls dont forget the mobile version of the app, very very far important than...

Chat logs/notification would be shown in the notification/ticker panel. It will be visible to some people(depending on privacy settings). The app has no way of modifying NL's contents. Mobile version ?...if evrything goes well, SURE!
