worldbest, it seems you are obsessed about the words COPYRIGHT, LEGAL and CASH. Someone has a challenge and people are offering possible solutions which you are yet to proffer one. Rather than offer a helping hand you seem to be more interested in threats and verbal assaults.

If Nairaland comprises people with such minds then seun's forum and the purpose behind it are flops.

I have written codes, offer suggestions, direct people to free training programmes on this forum without asking a penny. I even offered some of my own written softwares freely for organizations thru this forum.

https://www.nairaland.com/1024149/fingerprint-matching-application

etc

So please do your research well on user's before you discourage others. However, if you are overzealously interested in software & training videos copyright defense then consider another forum or a contract with DMCA in the interest of spirited nairaland users like me.

Thanks
Dude you missed the point. I'm not saying you are not trying to help. Most people who drop
Phone numbers demand some sort of payment/reward. If a person downloads premium learning materials (like me) for free, and redistributes to someone else collecting a reward, then that person is a thief * 2. But then, I probably don't have the moral right to cry copyright. So if you don't download/share non-free materials, I'm sorry for the insult. But if you do, you are a criminal(including me sad and every other guilty person)

Worldbest. I think you are mistaken. The essence of this forum is sharing ideas, resources and information within legal limits. Having videos tutorials which was sent from my brother is the state and giving a nairalander to also watch for FREE is not THEFT, PIRACY OR a BREACH OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. It is commercial duplication that is prohibited.
So before you make unhealthy and discouraging comments do your research well, read inbetween d lines and try to understand the essence of the programming section of this forum.

Thanks

Help the dude in whatever way. But if any of you demand for cash or airtime for copyrighted materials you got illegally, then you are disgusting.

Blugreen: you can tell them again.. Get rich programming? Ah! That is suicide! I strongly believe there are people who doesn't know what programming is all about(newbie) and planning to buy a private jet with it. Smh for who ever takes programming as the only means of livelihood or thinks programming can make him the next Bill Gate. Embrace with passion and play it for fun at leisure without aiming getting rich with it and you will see the end result. Deliberate abandoning school for programming? Ah! Taking a rat poison would be better! @ Op "Seun" is not a school drop out. He his a graduate @ Ife( Obafemi Awolowo University) if am not mistaking. And all those names you mentioned did not drop out of school for programming. Complete your school bro smiley

You are highly ignorant. So are you saying one cannot get
Rich through programming? Where are you from? You don't have to be as rich as B.Gates to be considered rich. I am so sure you don't know what programming is and you are the newbie. If anyone ever decides to leave school, they do so only when they feel their program/application is becoming a business. Even if they fail, they could get acquired etc. I think you are lazy boy. Keep writing tags and attribute for fun, without a future plan, you'll grow "gaymu"
. The only thing I'll agree with you even though you've been yapping saw dust is that you'll need alot of passion and ambition to really make it big.

Fayimora:

Can't believe someone can actually make such a statement. Until you stop perceiving programming as something that should't make you think or something that should make you rich, you will NEVER, and I repeat NEVER see the joy in programming. To make it worse, you will NEVER be worth the name "programmer".

Just like @netghost, I program for fun! When you embrace it properly, you will get more than you asked for. Programming is for those who know what programming actually is!

@worldbest, people that learn at that level and suddenly have startup(s) are called ENTREPRENEURS not PROGRAMMERS. They never wanted to program, they only found a very lucrative way to try out their actual skills!

I don't quite agree. It depends on how you define a programmer. As far as an individual learns to code, gets to a stage where he is able to bring an idea to reality then i he is a programmer and an entrepreneur. Nobody cares weather is a basic, intermediate or an expert.

programming is not my hustle , i do it for fun....Personally i think you wont go far in programming if you go into it expecting to get you daily bread from it, it should be a thing done out of free will, gradually you find it paying the bills, your comment is still the basic reason the open source community is lacking Nigeria

I disagree with you bro. A lot of people go into programming to earn their daily bread. Why do you think people pay lots of money to learn it. So are you telling me that an individual who learns to program to an intermediate level, develops a startup and attracts paying customers hasn't gone far? Why the hell will i go into programming, learn challenging things all because i want to exercise my free will. I started programming because i wanted money (i still want money). It is even the love for money that drives me. How i go sleep for 3hours per day, look rough in the eyes of babes, spoil my eyes, acquire back pains, catch malaria because say i get only passion for programming grin
Programming / Re: Why Do Young Startup Founders Drop Out Of School by worldbest(m): 10:07am On Jul 31, 2012
Blugreen: Ah! Please ooo. Don't get yourself addicted to programming. It is a work you do at leisure and gradually become a full time job. Put schooling first because your browser would never give out the correct results if the spelling of your attributes names and values are wrong! smiley

If you program only at your leisure time alone, you may never go far. The addiction grows on you because of the passion. I ‎am a student and i code or think about codes 24/7 and it has helped my programming and improved my logic. The addiction of programming got to a stage where i would sleep with a biro and paper just incase i come up with an incredible idea. When i watch TV, play games and engage in real life activities, i try to relate these activities with codes. So you see, if you love programming, do not set a specific time to do something.
Programming / Re: Making A Crude Website API by worldbest(m): 2:08am On Jul 22, 2012
Since the webmaster is aware, that's fine. Just run a test on the page regularly to be sure the markup hasn't changed.
Programming / Re: Making A Crude Website API by worldbest(m): 12:52am On Jul 22, 2012
How the server finds out depends on how often your crawlers visit. Even if you use a mozilla user-agent, the admin might suspect you if they see that an ip is visiting too fast/often and they may be able check how much bandwidth your crawler's ip has used up. Some websites do this automatically, if your crawler is irresponsible enough to crawl pages without adequate delays, they may block it by redirecting to a captcha page. Nothing beats an API.
Programming / Re: Making A Crude Website API by worldbest(m): 7:32pm On Jul 21, 2012
What you want to do is screen scraping and its very possible. I recently scraped nl's homepage to confirm a users session In one of my projects. One of the problem with this approach is the markup changing. I don't think that would happen often though. But then, if seun finds out that you are eating up his bandwidth, he might just ban your crawlers.

We are working on a project and would like your honest opinion on the below questions.

1. If someone invites you to his/her party/club/get-together/Reunion/seminar over the internet, will you honor the invitation?
2. If someone invites you to go with her/him to a party/club and that you would buy your own ticket and drinks, will you go?
3. In the clubs you go to, do girls go in for free? How much is charged for both female and male

* The term "someone" could mean an individual you personally know, or don't know. This person could be your online acquaintance or a friend of a friend.

Moderator, please i would love to have this thread on the front page. Its really important to us that we get lots of opinions.

hmm... With only Javascript you can't do this. It only knows DOM.

Lolz, that's not true. Bros give JS some respect nah. The filesystem and media player, would be done with js using HTML5 file system and audio/video capabilities.

have you designed app for the chrome OS.

Not exactly. I've been building chrome extensions for sometime now. To the best of my knowledge, I believe chrome browser extensions are the apps for Chrome OS (with additional JS APIs).

lordZOUGA: if you move it away from a browser it will defeat the purpose and you want to do it entirely with javascript. Right? Else I would have adviced you to checkout Qt webkit module. Code with HTML5, javascript and C++. Its open source.

That's very correct. There are some things I would like to add to my feature list but to do so would mean that I would be looking a C/C++. For now, ill just use JS. If this thing gets good attention, then I may just go ahead.
Programming / Re: Sage OS (HTML5) : The Development (with download link) by worldbest(m): 10:31pm On Jun 11, 2012
It may seem like I have be doing only interface works. True, but every ui components (AppBoard, AppTray, User account, AppWindow) actually plugs into the "kernel" (make una no laugh o). I am not just using html and js to design. APIs to manage this components would also be added too.
Programming / Re: Sage OS (HTML5) : The Development (with download link) by worldbest(m): 10:19pm On Jun 11, 2012
lordZOUGA: nice... You are trying to build a browser OS with javascript and HTML5. Kool. But for some reason you started with designing user interface which (considering the two languages you are using) is the easiest thing you can do with them. Have you thought of processes and threads?? How you will handle mutexes and semaphores??. Please I'd really like to know how you wanna simulate them.

First, I started with the interface because I tend to hate any project I start if they aren't attractive from the begining (I still don't know why I do things like this, forces to me work slowly). As for process and threads, for now I want to stick with HTML5 standards. I will be using Web workers for threads and anything HTML5 has to offer. If this project gets adopted by a lot of people, then, the project could then be made to be a standalone OS running on seperate partition or as a desktop app powered by a chromium engine with powerful javascript APIs for real process/thread creation and other APIs.

Who knows, it could be Africa's answer to Chrome OS cheesy

I would like to know if this project is worth continuing as my motivation is really low. Knowing that the cloud OS space has players like Google Chrome OS, Jollicloud, carbyn, Windows 8. Do you think this project is a waste of time? Please use the poll above to vote. Thanks

I am unable to upload the latest version because I've been having problems with my internet. Airtel won't let me use my internet plan because of my BIS.

Anyways, I took a break and was working with Backbone.js. But I won't be using it just yet as I don't get it yet (cheesy. So I wrote me a small script that separates my jQuery mess from my business/model codes.

Tomorrow, I would round up everything that has to do with the App Window and Tray.
