OMG I can't believe I'm back here with my own testimony. I promised I'll be back to give God all the glory when I finally got the golden letter and to encourage someone, because all the golden mail stories gave me so much hope.

I started this whole process because my SIL was applying. I thought it was a good idea so I joined her. She got her PR seamlessly in 6 months so I thought ours was going to be that easy. Fate had other plans lol.
IELTS: 15/12/2018
WES completed: 30/01/2019
Jumped in the pool: Feb 2019, score 445. Stayed in the pool and lost 5 points due to birthday in July. Note that ITA cutoff scores just before we entered the pool were hovering around 435-439. Immediately we entered the pool, it rose sharply to 460s. As soon as I saw that scores weren't dropping, I quickly got my husband to go and write IELTS. It boosted our score to 459. I adjusted our score and the wait continued. We were lucky to get ITA because the cutoff was 459 but our profile was created before the tie break date.
ITA: 24/07/2019
AOR: 21/09/2019.
COMPLETE RADIO SILENCE! Sent about 20 webforms that went unanswered. We even ordered GCMS notes that we did not understand.
IRCC finally responded to one of my webforms and I was informed that our VO was Accra. That was when I decided to just take my mind off the entire process and wait on God.
This year, we decided to update our medicals on 24/04/2022. I sent webforms with the re-medicals and our change of address. More silence.
We even got my SIL who is in Canada to keep calling IRCC on our behalf. Still no new update from them. At one point, I thought they had cancelled our application.
One day, a friend who applied because of us, called us to tell us he just got his letter. We were confused because we know his application was months after ours. So he told us he was tired of his own waiting and got info to write a strongly worded letter to the immigration minister. We decided to do the same and sent a letter to the minister on 24/05/2022. Fortune finally smiled on us and we got a mail on 11/06/2022 for ADR to submit police report, passports for my husband and son, and schedule A for my husband and I. We submitted the documents on 7/7/2022 with our deadline being the next day (8th). On the 20th of July, I logged into our profile only to discover the documents were not transmitted. The devil really tried to work overtime but failed. Omo, I started sending webforms and reporting technical issues o. I begged and pleaded and cried. I didn't hear anything from them on that matter but on 25th July at 11pm, I saw a mail from them to check my account. I was so scared it was a rejection due to our docs not transmitting to them before our deadline. It was so heart wrenching to open my account and seeing that letter. I couldn't stop crying.

This journey has taught me the true meaning of patience, but I'm so happy it finally ended in praise. To all who are still in their waiting period, don't lose hope. It is definitely coming. Thank you so much to all old members of this thread i.e those who were here 2018/2019. This thread is a huge goldmine. Every single thing I learnt about this entire process was from here. Onto the next!!!!!

Just received my PPR.. Wow! I'm still surprised as I called IRCC just yesterday and was told my eligibility was recommended pass while my security had not been started. My AOR was on March 12 and due date Sept 12. I was thinking the Covid would have delayed the application.

I'm so grateful to God and to every single person here on Nairaland. And to all the mods who helped create fantastic page 1. That was all I read and that was what helped me submit a good application.

Thank you Nairaland.

Congratulations!!!!
Please can you share how you called them? I've been trying to use dingtone but it's not working.
I'm so happy for you.

Congratulations mate!

Seems Canada isn't extending their border lockdown, hence why they are now releasing PPRs. Usually, they announce border extension 2weeks before the lapse of the initial date... Today is 13th and no word on extending the lockdown date beyond September 21st.

Guess the entire programme will be fully back. Fingers crossed.

AVO your shidren are waiting o! Lolz.

I pray this is true. September 2019 AOR and we have not heard a single word from Accra. Sent countless emails and requested GCMS and there seems to be no issues. We are just here waiting and waiting. It's so frustrating.

Panel 34: Industrial Chemistry
*Define Air pollution.
*Mention 3 Air pollutants.
*Safety practices you can adopt when travelling.
*Where do you see yourself in 5years and how do you intend positioning yourself towards realizing those dreams if you're hired.
*From your CV you've held so many leadership positions, how have you adopted logic or sounded judgment in a group or amongst your followers.
NB: It was a friendly session, they'll introduce themselves and expect you to say a little about yourself, try selling yourself with the soft skills you possess n bring in just the most important part of your CV.
2. Do well to know the names of the members of the panel, its always good to say thank you Mr A for your question before answering... It makes the person endeared to you for remembering his/her name.
3. It's your CV, you should have mastery of it and answer just what you're asked, do well to be confident and wear a smile.
You have the right to steer your interview to the direction that will favour you, if at the end of the session you're not satisfied with your performance, you have the right to politely tell them what you have to offer NNPC, that way you can get a second chance to redeem your image.
4. At the end of the session, thank the panel.

Believe!! God is not a respecter of Crowd, He'll show mercy to whom he'll show mercy... Cheers to you all.

Thank you so much. I noticed people don't want to share how their interviews went.

Okay, thanks. The problem I am facing is that you can't upload more than one document, if it is not listed in the option

Just upload one then..

My job title is showing..
The professional courses I possess are UK HSE 1,2,3..
But when I click on input other certificate, I can only type one. And when it is time to upload the certificate, it won't upload.

Click 'include other certificate ' it should be able to upload with no hassles. You could try refreshing the page

The professional certificate that was listed on the website, I don't possess any. After clicking add other certificate, I find it hard to upload it on the next page.. Also, what can I do if I want to put in three or more certificate??

Use another email and make sure the job title you are applying for shows this time. It happened to me so I had to start afresh with a new email.

Wow, Geologists are gradually changing careers. I wished we "chop" that "Oil money" in Canada. Have you done any research yet concerning the PM?

Lol oil money ends in Naija, so it seems. I was looking at doing a graduate certificate course in project mgt at UToronto but it's really costly. Plus I'll have to still do the PMP certification to practice so I'm exploring other options.

Finally seen someone in my field. Also have Bsc Geology and Msc petroleum geoscience. Although I have been seeing some geology jobs on indeed here and there was one ExxonMobil one and there is even a Canadian govt one now that deadline is in Oct. 2019. However since I hear the oil industry is shaking in alberta I am open to a career change. My sis is in ontario so I plan to go there for family support since I have small children and my hubby isn't relocating yet. I am thinking of project management plan to do to PMP certification here in naija before leaving.

I am exactly in the same boat as you. Geologist thinking of switching to project mgt.

Seldonmly Glanced through part 6 then but wasn't serious however in this part 7, I pledge to follow up back to back this time around, So help me God.

Let me quickly, go back to page 1 and assimilate very well however the gurus here should take it easy on newbies like us, I know we can be annoying some times, we will soon graduate to become an expert too... so bear with us.

Meanwhile, I would like to ask if;
1) either WES or ICEs accepts Neco or GCE results? How about combination of the two?

2) can one get or use sponsor(s) as POF? Or sponsor(s) to compliment?

3) work issues? The self employed or under employed dudes, I mean, working for a private firm that salaries sometimes can be transferred from Oga's or Madam's savings bank account to yours. Considering the fact that pay slip with tax deduction could be required. can oluwale be applied?

4) what's the rough cost estimation for the entire processes till one lands in Canada? Ielts, Medical, insurance, flight, minimum account balance etc... what range is one expected to atleast have in her possession? Make person no go dey stranded for middle, come spend the little we are managing ontop money way no dey.

If it's not feasible, let us just save the energy, relax here and strive to make nigeria work again.
N:B i'm awaiting my Msc final defense, what's your advise?

Who can volunteer to guide me through the nursery/basic stages? Quote me and indicate... Make i PM you.

Thanks guys

I don't think you fully digested page 1 if you are asking all these questions

I worked at their FC, which is basically a warehouse. I am not sure that is something you want to make a career out of. If you need details about what I did there and what I think of my time there, I wouldn't mind to share.

Thanks for this.

einsteino:

It is not often cheaper. The agencies pocket the difference ie the firms often pay full wages but the agencies take out commission from it. Recently, The Brick has had to start hiring its own warehouse staff because of this. They pay agencies about $18/hr for a general labourer while the labourer only gets $14/hr, in the end they were having a high turn over of employees as these guys would typically just work a few weeks and go find somewhere else that pays say $16 directly to them. Although the agencies are usually able to replace a staff soon as he leaves, the time it takes for a new hire to go through orientation and integrate is a financial cost too. firms also prefer employees that would stay and climb up to fill in positions that only someone already in the organisation can best fill.

Also, some agencies state it in their contract that the firm can not hire a staff that is still with them. A friend of mine was working with Rogers via a staffing agency, he later applied for a Rogers job that was advertised publicly. When he passed the interview and all the hiring hurdles, they had to wait for him to resign from the agency first before making him an offer, just so it doesn't breach their contract.

I also don't agree that you need agencies to hire a contract staff or to even try out a staff(that is what probationary period is for). I worked with Amazon as a contract staff and it was a direct hire, I had no benefits or rather it was monetized in the form of an increased wage rate over that of a permanent staff. Hitherto, Amazon used agencies for their Fulfiment centre hire and they found out that it imparted on their staff dedication.

Eitherways, there has to be a reason why some firms use agencies. I think it maybe because it is cheaper than having your own HR do it, maybe they are more resourceful or the competition helps.
Very insightful Einsteino. Your posts are always very refreshing. Might you be able to shed more light on your time at Amazon? What did you do there? I'm looking at a career change when I get to Canada. I'm a geologist now, but I'm looking at project management. Thanks.
