Politics / Re: Yoruba Vs Igbo Cat Fights: Are You Tired Of Them? by zannie(f): 10:08am On Aug 29, 2012
All round I consider myself a Nigerian and a humanist. Me being an Igbo lady does not stop me from helping or making friends with anybody. Like someone said, it does not affect the price of garri in the market(lwkmd). U can always hate on one tribe and watch the hate reduce you to nothing, which is sad, or u can embrace everyone and spread positivity and love. For me, I think that's wat our struggle should be about. I come from a place where we are all seen as Nigerians. In my secondary school we were all shielded from this kind of hate and that's what has shaped me. Some of my closest friends today are not even Igbo. Shout out to Kemi, Peju, Deji, Aniete, Hadiza, Ini, etc etc. One love!!!

From what I've learnt here, some people don't deserve replies from well mannered people. Since I consider myself well mannered, I'll just air my own view and bail.
Nairaland really does have some extremely uncultured people.
Have a nice day y'all smiley
Travel / Re: Aviation-Minister Blocks Foreign Airlines From Abuja by zannie(f): 11:13pm On Aug 28, 2012
@Novice1, I want to ask you a few questions:
Have u ever been to Enugu?
Have you ever heard of business strategies? From what I gathered, the airlines are not being forced, they are asked to consider. Our airports are not private businesses, they are built with taxpayers money. If some strategies are not being set up to encourage business in this newly built airport, don't you think down the line it will be a flop, and the 'typical Nigerian' will end up blaming the government?
Sometimes its good to consider issues from every angle. Enugu is not just made up of 'civil servants' as someone put it. This airport was intended to internationally serve people in this part of the south(not just the south east). From my little knowledge of international economics, the government protects young establishments by encouraging the implementation of policies like this. People in this part of Nigeria ( Enugu, Onitsha, Awka, Owerri, Umuahia, Asaba, Warri, Sapele etc) will also benefit from spending less to get to an international airport. As someone said, the whole Nigeria does not live in Lagos and Abuja.
When we talk of one Nigeria, we should always try to see things from an unbiased angle instead of bringing up hate that will always eat us up. One Nigeria, dats what I believe in

Family / Re: Should I End My Marriage by zannie(f): 8:26am On Aug 20, 2012
^^^exactly!
U had all these reservations, yet u married a Catholic? Its really difficult for a Catholic to leave the Catholic church, that's like the most difficult thing for them.
If u really are as liberal as u claim, this really shudnt be a problem to u. I just feel you are looking for justifiable reasons for divorce and you want us to be ur support and backup
Family / Re: Should I End My Marriage by zannie(f): 9:16pm On Aug 19, 2012
@ dasparrow, pls chop knuckle. Na only u make so much sense for here.
I find it so hard to believe that someone who's so advanced in age would know so little about human nature. You should know how little human beings change when they are already adults. You 'agreed' to marry her just because she said she wud follow u to the Anglican church after marriage. Did u actually expect her to leave all she's ever known to follow u? Like seriously??
I don't get why its only women who should make all dese so called sacrifices.
Y did u even date her knowing denomination is such a big issue with u? Y ddnt u look for an Anglican girl. If you claim to be liberal, these things should be trivial to u, otherwise u don't know the meaning of liberal.
Please have a very long talk with ur wife, as two mature adults. Do not consider divorce an option if you both truly love and care for each other. There is. No guaranty the next girl you meet will be better even if she's an Anglican. You say she's a caring and loving wife. To me that should be the most important factor in your marriage. Spirituality is a deeply personal aspect of human life so I really don't know y u actually thought she wud follow you to ur church.

Religion / Re: My Friends Want Me To Become Catholic. Your Thoughts. by zannie(f): 6:59pm On Aug 14, 2012
Can we all just STOP!!!! Lord, dis is so crazy! We Christians are always d first to talk about how Muslims attack Christians meanwhile we destroy ourselves by ourselves. Christians make Christianity so complicated when in reality its not, always shredding yourselves all the time. Everyone is convinced he and he alone knows the truth. We all make reference to the bible forgetting that its fellow human beings like us (with divine inspiration) who wrote it. If we can believe in it with faith, then praying with any pastor, priest, warden, deacon, faithful should be a breeze. A young person just asked for mature contributions and all people could come up with is verbale fights about the best church! There is no best church...that is why we have personal convictions and human conscience. All you bible thumping, church going people..how many times do you love your neighbour? How many times do you give alms? How many times do you pray for the sick? That is Christianity in action! LOVE!!! And this is the basis of our faith..to love God with all we have, and to love our fellow human beings. Without good works, all this bible quoting is hogwash! Shikena!
Its funny how we all come here quoting the bible and claiming to attend the best church when we go home and beat our wives and commit all sorts of atrocities. Shebi na we be the Nigerians the whole world keep condemning for bribery, corruption, looting, killing, stealing....yet we know every verse in the bible. Na God go help us in this country!

And someone is already recommending Christ Embassy like its a drug. Smh! Naija Christians sef.
There is absolutely no salvation in any church! Simple! If u feel a particular church draws u closer to God whether Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Christ Embassy, Redeemed, Grail, wherever...then good for you. We as human beings are individually different so whatever rocks your boat.
Religion / Re: My Friends Want Me To Become Catholic. Your Thoughts. by zannie(f): 2:27pm On Aug 14, 2012
Some people will always mock what they don't understand. Someone has already said Catholics worship Mary. Has the person ever taken part in Mass or any other Catholic ritual? Smh! Ignorance
@op, you are the only one who is responsible for your actions. Spirituality is a very personal aspect of human life. You need some soul searching and if you feel you wholly accept what the Church teaches, then good for you. Bear in mind that the Catholic church is very ancient and deeply rooted in tradition, so if you are looking for new wave Pentecostalism, I don't think it'll be the right place for you
Family / Re: A Man Who Expects Good Food & Doesn't Drop Money by zannie(f): 8:16pm On Aug 11, 2012
Marriage involves two people, sharing responsibilities, living through thick and thin. If the husband lost his job, its up to the woman (if she earns a salary) to take up some financial responsibilities. It won't kill her to serve her man, knowing his situation. This is why love and trust are so important.
Ps: all those ppl talking about the wife being a lazy housewife, what if b4 the marriage, the husband told his wife not to work when they get married nko?

Fashion / Re: Natural Hair by zannie(f): 7:11am On Aug 06, 2012
There's already a natural hair meet up in Lagos. I think its organized by a blogger called natural Nigerian. She also sells various natural hair care items.
Fashion / Re: Natural Hair by zannie(f): 11:08pm On Aug 04, 2012
I stopped relaxing my hair in february cos it was breaking so bad and it was terribly damaged. I chopped off the relaxed ends about a 6wks ago and I have about 3in of kinky hair now.
In all honesty, I get annoyed when some people feel so superior about having natural hair, and act like someone died and made them the queen of all things natural. Smh. Hair is a personal decision for everyone, u choose to have it natural, relaxed, texlaxed, loc'd bla bla bla. Its urs and nobody can dictate what u do with ur hair.
Anyways, in this past few months, I've learnt so much about my hair, and its all so exciting as I've never had to take care of the hair myself. I've stopped going to salons, cos they just don't know how to handle nappy hair with the care it needs. All I've learnt about my hair, I learnt form amazing hair websites like curlynikki.com, bglhonline.com, naturallycurly.com and some other lovely blogs.
My routine is pretty simple. I wear fat braids as protective styling most times so as to prevent hands in hair syndrome. When I do have my hair out, I wash every other week. I pre-shampoo with a mixture of coconut, olive, castor, peppermint and tea tree oils for about 30mins. Then I conditioner wash with a cheapie like V05 moisture milks. My hair really adores protein so I use aphogee keratin reconstructor and wash off after about 15 mins. After this I deep condition with Giovanni smooth as silk deeper conditioner and coconut oil and follow up with an ACV rinse. Then I'm done. I also moisturize with my homemade mix of cantu shea butter leave in and oils. I always seal in the moisture with shea butter when I'm done. I jst recently started using henna and I think its something I'll continue using.
Please we shud learn to respect people's choices. Nobody has better hair just because she relaxes or she dosnt. All hair is good hair, the most important thing is how u feel about urself. Peace!

@op
U seem to misunderstand me. I ddnt meant u shud pretend u dnt have when u do. From ur replies, u seem very honest and candid. And I love ur mentality abt relationships. What I mean is dat u shud learn some restraint when giving, especially when u deem it unnecessary. True, some girls can be silly and inconsiderate about dese tins, but much of it is rily human nature. She sees how u r willing to lavish on her, so she takes advantage of it. Gifts occasionally are fine, but when she makes it look like its ur responsibility to take care of her, and u aint even married to her, den u my friend shud think with ur head

I am extremely proud to say I never collect a penny from any man, I dnt even know how I wud get past d shame of begging him. Dat way, I keep my pride and my dignity. And I knw many Nigerian girls like dat too.
And always bear in mind dat what u give is what u receive.
