Arewa community in Enugu state have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in  the 2019 governorship election, senator Ayogu Eze.

The members drawn from different markets and zones in the state including Ogui, Asata, Artisan, Emene, Abakpa and Gariki said it is only the candidacy of Ayogu Eze that can guarantee the protection of their inalienable rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

Speaking separately at a solidarity visit to the APC governorship candidate in the state, leader of the Hausa Community in Enugu State Alhaji, Aminu Saidu, Arewa Youth leader, Hamza Buba, former Vice-Chairman, Hausa Community and leader New Artisan Market, Alhaji Umaru Saduiq, Co-ordinator Ogui, Abdulahi Musa as well as Alhaji Ume Dauda, Secretary New Artisan Market and Udegbunam Chukwu, Treasurer , lamented the forceful takeover of the new artisan market by the current administration which they said has made life unbearable for them.

While appealing to Ayogu Eze to restore the market when he enters Lion Building, they promised to mobilize all their members across the 19 Northern states living in Enugu to vote for the APC candidate.

According to them, Senator Eze have a proven track record and has the capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state who are in dire need of inclusive and good governance.

Responding, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Eze who thanked the Arewa Community in the state for their endorsement said the party in the state will deliver 90 % of the votes for President Mohammadu Buhari.

He said Enugu state and other south east states cannot continue to play opposition politics saying “we want to carry Enugu to the federal level so that we will not be discriminated.

“APC is a party for all. Igbos are at a disadvantage and President Buhari has promised us that 2023 he will hand over power to Igbos to govern Nigeria”.

He also promised the Hausa community that when elected  ,they will be integrated into his administration’s agricultural revolution programme.

“As for your market, maybe you want the old market back, but we are going to modernise your business. There are people we are discussing with in Brazil, who are going to bring machines for you to improve the way you process your meat. We will use the money from AFDP, World Bank and other agencies in Germany and in Britain. We will modernize and build a bigger place for you. All your cattle will not travel all the way from the north again. We have a big agricultural programme for all residents of Enugu who have interest in Agriculture.

On political inclusion and appointment, the APC governorship candidate, said everybody will be carried along irrespective of tribe and religion.

“You can remember that the first Mayor of Enugu Umaru Atine is an Hausa man. We are going to make sure that we return to that era, where Hausa, Yoruba and other people coming to sit with us in the state House of Assembly.

In 2015 there was an Hausa man who ran for the House of Assembly, Aminu Usman, the next one we will make sure, he will not just run but he will win.

In a remark, former governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 election in the state, Chief Okey Ezea thanked the Arewa Community for endorsing the APC candidate, Ayogu Eze whom he said has the capcity to the fortunes of Enugu people around.

He urged them to mobilize their friends across ethnic and religious divides living in the state to ensure that APC wins the governorship and presidential elections as well as other elective positions.

“We have no doubt that you will vote for APC. But most of the times in Enugu state, opposition parties are shortchanged. It is not as if we don’t have popular support but after voting, figures are manipulated. So I urged you to be determined agents of the party in the various units to ensure that no agent is bought over. Because that is the greatest problem we face in Enugu state.”

“We need hard work and mobilization. Tell your friends to vote APC and everybody will benefit” He added.

The Enugu State Police Command says it has arrested a 21-year-old girl, identified as Sandra Chisom Dumbo, for allegedly killing her new born baby few hours after being put to bed.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to 042report on Sunday in Enugu via a statement, said the ugly incident took place on Saturday at “Royal Lodge located at Agbani in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu state.



According to him, “the mother of the late baby identified as one Sandra Chisom Dimbo of about 21 years and an occupant of the Royal Lodge was said to have given birth the the baby on 17/11/18 and allegedly killed her shortly inside her room before the arrival of neighbours who had forced themselves into her room after the alleged dastardly act.

“On that fateful day, the cry of a baby was heard in Sandras room which attracted neighbours to her room but could not gain access until they forced themselves in and only to discover that the baby was given birth to and allegedly killed by the mother.

The Command Spokesman added a “full scale investigations have commenced into the incident, just as Sandra is helping the operatives.

He said the dead body of the baby was also recovered by the operatives.

Speaking during the event, Anyalekwa said the association's leadership were in Abuja for it's NEC meeting between 15th and 18th Nov, and thought it proper to visit the party to discuss on issues of mutual benefits. He further said that the visit was imperative because of the need to spread accurate information especially now that fake news is spreading like wild fire online.

Reacting to Oshiomhole’s claim that Ndigbo is divided over Atiku /Obi, Kola denied the claim and said the Igbos are behind the People's Democratic Party presidential candidate and told the APC National Chairman to face his corruption charges against the Department of State Security Service, DSS, instead of talking from both sides of his mouth.

APC Chairman For Cross River State, Dr. Mathew Achigbe Dies In Ghastly Motor Accident

Chairman of the Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Mathew Achigbe, is dead.



Achigbe died in an auto crash along Afikpo Road in Ebonyi State in the early hours of Saturday while on his way back from a church programme in Enugu State.

He was said to have died alongside other yet-to-be-identified occupants in his Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle.

A man suspected to have raped two fresh students of the University Of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, around 9am, last Saturday, has been arrested.

The man and 5 others, who are said to be labourers cutting grass, allegedly raped the 100 level Microbiology students at Vet mountain inside the school campus.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has suspended the newly-elected ‘Speaker’ of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Ike Uzoezie, and two other principal officers.
They are the Deputy Speaker, Hartford Oseke and the Majority Leader, Maduforom Okoye, for their perceived roles in the removal of the erstwhile Speaker Rita Maduagwu.

The state chairman of the party, Chief Nobert Obi, who spoke with reporters at the party’s secretariat in Awka, lamented the role played by the trio who are respected party faithful in the whole saga.



The suspension order, which was conveyed in a one-page five-paragraph statement, which Obi read and presented to journalists in Awka, said they would remain suspended “pending the time they will appear before the disciplinary committee of the party for further action.”

Obi, who acknowledged that the impeachment crisis was ill- timed, especially now that the cohesion of the party was in shambles as a result of the misunderstanding arising from the recent party primaries, expressed disappointment in the conduct of the suspended members, saying the party has set up disciplinary committee to investigate their grievances in a bid to restore peace in the House.

The party also enjoined members to explore the party’s provision to ventilate their grievances, saying the party would ensure peace is returned to the state House of Assembly.

Obi, however, maintained that APGA was not the only party in crisis but that all hands must be on deck to ensure internal democracy and fair-play in the party.

The Senator Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation has accused the Government of Enugu State of forcing civil servants in the state to submit particulars of their Permanent Voter Card as prerequisite for collection of December salary.

This disclosure was made by the spokespseron of Ayogu campaign organization, Barr. Steve Oruruo at their campaign office in Enugu. Speaking to journalists during a press briefing, Barr Orurua said the act is equally extended to traders, retirees and students in the state.
“The latest in the series of the actions of the government of the day is what have been brought to our notice; which is that Enugu workers, traders, retirees and even vulnerable students are been compelled and coerced, to surrender the particulars of their voters cards through photocopies and the rest”.



The former Peoples Democratic Party Secretary in the state also accused some unscrupulous and unmindful element in the Independent National Electoral Commission of conniving with PDP-led government of Enugu state to scuttle the will of justice and also to manipulate the electoral process.



While condemning the action, Oruruo called on relevant agencies to investigate the alleged compulsion of eligible voters to divulge details of their PVCs adding that the APC in the state will not fold her arms and watch the rights of the people to vote the candidate of their choice trampled upon.



“This is condemnable and unacceptable. Their freedom should remain unimpeded; their right to make a choice should be permanent”.

“This is disheartening, It is their right; it shouldn’t be a bait for December salary that you have to submit your voters’ card”.

“To all intent and purposes, it is condemnable like I said, but I know it is being done with a mission to manipulate the system and also to hack the database of INEC and see how the electoral process can be manipulated”.

“But we are awake and we want to also confirm to our teaming supporters and the Enugu electorates who desperately want a better Enugu State that they should relax and go about their businesses without entertaining any fear” Orurua Said.



On the overall performance of the current administration in the state led by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Oruruo insisted that “the government has performed so woefully”.

“Enugu is lying in comatose. Enugu is ruined and nothing has been done”.

“The government has completely under-performed because the interest and value of the citizens have been completely ignored”.



“The people are yearning for change and the windows of change are available. So, we sustain the views in terms of availability of options. Options must be created so that our people can vote and vote into prosperity”.

“The redundancies you see today, the lack of productivity shall be a thing of the past”.



“Ayogu Eze comes with a difference. What he is bringing to Enugu people is the recovery of the state, redemption of the state. A redemption song is going on and I believe that people are attracted to this song”.

“They want a fair deal, they want a renaissance; they want a rebirth of the respect Enugu has been commanding since. They want a situation where our people will flourish, succeed and excel, courtesy of opportunities provided by government”.

“Obviously, the social contract has not been met and our people are yearning for change”.

The Ayogu Eze campaign spokesman also fingered the state government to what he described as a “rebellious” petition written by the Chairman, Enugu State Gaming Commission Harrison Ogara and an elder brother of Barrister Tagbo Ogara who was also one of the aspirants APC last governorship primaries that was roundly defeated by Sen. Ayogu Eze.

“Having said this, the next in line is the smear politics and campaign of calumny being orchestrated against the candidacy of Senator Ayogu Eze who is the candidate of APC for 2019 governorship election”.

“You can see the hand of the devil in it, you can see the connectivity, you can see the main case, it is being orchestrated by the government to create a kind of bad image about a candidate whose qualities are known and who is apparently indestructible”.

“We also want to send out a message to our true supporters and the people of Enugu to remain calm. Let investigations be carried out by the anti-graft agencies that we trust that they know their jobs”.

“We are calling on Enugu people in their thousands to remain steadfast with the love and passion they have for change”.

This year’s Miss BumBum competition has ended in a shambles after contestants resorted to violence on stage following cheating allegations.


The fight was sparked by one contestant accusing the other of having a surgically enhanced derriere.



The eye-popping scenes unfolded on Monday shortly after Ellen Santana was crowned the winner for Miss BumBum 2018.

The 31-year-old model and dancer was representing the northern Brazilian state of Rondônia in the competition.

But moments after she was declared the winner, she was physically stripped of her winner’s sash by fellow contestant Aline Uva from Rio Grande Do Sul, in the south of Brazil.

Uva, a 27-year-old massage therapist, was heard shouting that the competition was a farce and claiming that the winner’s bum was surgically enhanced.

She added: “I fulfilled all the rules of the game, my butt is real, but her butt is plastic!

“Miss Bumbum is a farce. Today I could prove all this.”

Organisers of the annual competition were forced to intervene to calm the frantic scenes and ensure the winner’s sash was handed back to Santana.

The Miss BumBum competition has been held annually in Brazil since 2011.

It was founded by journalist and entrepreneur Cacau Oliver, and aims to crown the best buttocks in Brazil.



Commenting on the fracas, Oliver said the drama was “part of the contest”.

The televised competition has 27 contestants who represent the country’s different states, with 15 women making it to the finals.

Report reaching 042report says that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has once again rejected the list of candidates from Ogun State submitted to it by the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while acknowledging that of the state chapter of the party loyal to Senator Buruji Kasamu.

042report gathered that the electoral body had in a letter written to the party on October 25, 2018, and received on October 30, 2018, notified the PDP of its decision to publish the lists of candidates submitted by the Adebayo Dayo-led State Executive Committee of Ogun State PDP in pursuant to the orders until it is set aside.

The Federal High Court in Abeokuta had on October 2, 2018, in suit No: FHC/ABJ/CFS/636/2016, of Adebayo Dayo (state chairman) and eight others versus INEC and three others, ordered the commission to recognise Dayo-led State Executive Committee of PDP in Ogun State, and receive the list of candidates for the 2019 governorship, National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections from the said committee.



Okoye told 042report correspondent in Abeokuta that based on the subsisting court orders that have not been vacated, the commission collected the list of candidates that emanated from the Ogun State chapter of the PDP.

He stated: “This has nothing to do with our processes and procedures. We had told the political parties from the beginning that we will only collect the list of candidate signed by the national chairman and the national secretary of the political party which remains the policy of the commission.

“But if any court of law directs otherwise, we will definitely do as the court directs. So, from Ogun State, we have subsisting court orders and court judgement, and we should collect the list of candidates emanating from the political party in Ogun State.

“We have collected the list emanating from the political party in Ogun State as against that of the PDP at the national level based on the court order directing us on the list to collect. That’s the position of the commission presently

Recall that the World Bank Group recently rated Enugu State as the second most advanced state in Nigeria towards the frontier of global good practices with regards to Ease of Doing Business.

The landmark project was initiated and built to this level by former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani’s administration.

The attention of the Enugu State Government has been drawn to rumour making the rounds that it plans to ban the operation of tricycles (Keke) in the state after the 2019 general election.

The state government wishes to state categorically that the allegation is false and baseless as there is no such plan.

The government has implicit confidence in the leadership and membership of the Association of Tricycle Riders Transport Union in Enugu State, has continued to enjoy a cordial working relationship with them as partners in the development of the state and will empower them more after the 2019 general election in line with the policy thrust of the administration.

We therefore, urge the public to discountenance the said rumour as there is no iota of truth in it.

The Archbishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for signing the Child Rights Bill into law, which he said has guaranteed the rights and welfare of children in the state. The Archbishop, who is also the Chairman, Enugu State Adoption Committee, stated that the governor’s disposition in ensuring that all illegal adoption of children are completely stamped out in the state, is commendable and worthy of emulation.



The cleric spoke during the “Sensitization Workshop for Stakeholders on Adoption and Adoption Process in Enugu State”, held in Enugu, yesterday.

He expressed delight that Gov. Ugwuanyi has provided the enabling environment for the committee to discharge its duties, stressing that “based on the magnanimity of His Excellency, this committee has ensured that baby factories where babies are harvested for rituals do not exist in Enugu state”.

The committee chairman added that the governor has assisted the state in the area of protection of the children through the engagement of social welfare workers, training of the staff and supporting them in partnering with some doctors and hospitals to ensure that the rights of children are protected.

He said that the enlightenment workshop was aimed at educating the people on the dangers of baby factories or illegal adoption and urged the society to support the committee in upholding the salvation of children.

Declaring the workshop open, Governor Ugwuanyi emphasized the importance of children in the society, pointing out that “the Bible in Psalm 127 verse 3, describes children as a heritage from God and as His gifts to mankind”. He added that it “is the obligation on the society to treat children as precious divine presents, to be loved and cared for by all”.

Represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, Gov. Ugwuanyi noted that the delicate and sensitive nature of children have necessitated most countries including Nigeria to make laws and rules “to ensure that adoption and fostering are not abused or used in such a manner that would be detrimental to the wellbeing of the affected children”.

He disclosed that his administration has continued to take measures towards protecting the rights and welfare of the children in the state, such as prompt constitution of the committee on child fostering and adoption, the enactment of the child rights act in 2016 as well as the establishment of 12 family courts by the state’s Chief Judge, among others.

The governor therefore applauded “the State Ministry of Gender Affairs and Social Development, the State Judiciary and other relevant agencies of government stakeholders, participants, facilitator, and all who played a role in the organization of the workshop” for the initiative.

Earlier in her opening address, the Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Princess Peace Nnaji, maintained that the establishment of the Adoption Committee by Governor Ugwuanyi has distinguished him as “a dynamic leader that cares for the welfare of children”.

She said that the workshop also provides an ample opportunity for the stakeholders and the general public to know what adoption was all about, and the adoption process in Enugu state with a view to getting it right for the overall interest of the children in particular and society in general.



Describing legal adoption as “a permanent placement of a child into a fit and proper home through the court of law, the gender affairs commissioner, further explained that it “needs multi-sectoral approach”, which requires the inputs of her ministry, court of law, public spirited individuals, religious organizations, among others.

The Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Ngozi Emehelu, in her address enlightened the people on the roles of the judiciary in the dispensation of justice and lauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for according the judiciary its rightful place in the scheme of things, assuring their unflinching commitment towards rendering quality services to the state.

There was pandemonium in Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Abakaliki, Ebonyi State as some aggrieved students attacked a gunman following a robbery operation and failed murder attempt on a student.

The incident which occurred in the evening of Wednesday, October 24, saw students engage in a jungle justice due to the incessant robbery within and outside the university community.



According to reports, the robber was said to have been apprehended while trying to escape in a tricycle at the schools’ entrance gate (take-off site).

It was also gathered that while trying to evade his pursuers (students), the gunman pulled the trigger but unfortunately missed the target as he was knocked down and beaten by the students.

One of the students of the university narrated his experience. He said;

“what I passed through this evening is indeed a sad story. On my way home from school, I and six friends of mine were stopped by two armed men. But unfortunately, two persons from the group were robbed of their belongings.
“Due to what occurred, we gathered courage and followed them from the point we were stopped, around the schools main gate (permanent site), till we arrived at the other entrance gate where one of us identified one of the robbers trying to escape in a tricycle. Then, alarm was raised and we chased him for our belongings.

“In the process of a struggle, a gun shot was fired at me but luckily the target was poor. As he tried another attempt, I and my friends got hold of him and decided to proceed to the SUG office to resolve issues. But unfortunately, when students got wind of what transpired, they became agitated and pummeled the robber to the ground,” he said.

He further bemoaned the poor security measures around campus and questioned the security levy paid by students which doesn’t guarantee one’s safety.

The World Bank Group has rated Enugu State as "the second most advanced state in Nigeria towards the frontier of global good practices" with regards to Ease of Doing Business.

More autonomous communities in Enugu State today got the first tranche of N5 million of the N10 million earmarked by the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration for each community in the state to execute priority projects of their choice.

Presenting the cheques to the 19 communities during an event at the Government House, Enugu, which was witnessed by the governor, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Barr. Emeka Okeke, disclosed that 354 out of 450 autonomous communities in the state have so far collected their money.





He noted that the remaining communities will collect their cheques once they fulfill the basic requirements, reiterating the state government’s commitment to the full actualization of the noble objectives of the grassroots development programme.

Immidate past governor of Enugu state, Mr. Sullivan Chime, has faulted the Minister for Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatude Raji Fashola, for assuming that President Buhari will ceed power to south west in 2023.

Chime said that even though time has not come for such argument, equity demands that when power returns to Southern Nigeria, the geopolitical zone that has not produced President in the present democratic dispensation, which he agreed was Southeast, would be the most viable to do that.

He, therefore, said it is ebyond Fashola to pontificate on which zone would automatically get the residency in 2023.
Chime said: “2023 is beyond Fashola, he is just a minister.
The party will come out with zonning system. Yoruba has been President and it will go round. Remember we also have three zones in the north.
So we will talk about it. South West has been there, South South has been there and its now in the north.
One will expect that in 2023 it will come down to the South and when it comes to the south it will go to the zone that has not been President and that is South east.

“Fashola has addressed Yoruba people or the South West, telling them what Buhari did; one would expect him to also come to the South East to also tell us what is happening or what plans they have for us – and I am sure they have. “So, let us not attack him for talking to his kinsmen, it is one Nigeria; he will come and tell us and he will also go to northern Nigeria and tell them because we expect him to visit all the zones and you know charity begins at home. So, if he has started talking to the South West, let us just wait.
Campaign has not started, he will come here and go round. “Its not time to consider who will be there in 2023. In any case, if we are thinking about going to Abuja in 2023, we should first and foremost do the one thing we are sure about, support this man.
We will know that the position will be vacant in 2023, that is the surest way we can know how we will go in 2023. “Nobody should lie to us, nobody is going to be President for four years, its not true, its not possible.
“Its a straight forward thing but I don’t think it should concern us now, when that time comes, we’ll come up with the argument, we will talk to our people. We can’t do it alone, its a national thing.

An Ex-Corper Shot Dead Moments After Presenting His Discharge Certificate To His Parents In Benue



Ochoche Dickson Iduh, a Business Administration graduate who just completed his NYSC program has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Adoka/Ojira Streets, Otukpo, Benue State in the wee hours of Friday.

Dickson lost his life after two rival cult groups launched attack on themselves in the area. The said battle has been going on over a week before the Friday attacks, with three others killed few weeks earlier.

Late Dickson was in Benue State to show his NYSC discharge certificate to his parents.
