PoliticsChief Of Army Staff Hails Enugu State Governors Support For Army’s Water Project by 042report(op): 4:37pm On Jul 12, 2017
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has commended the contributions of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State towards the realization of the Nigerian Army water project at the Abakpa Cantonment of the 82 Division, Enugu, saying that the governor’s support was tremendous.

Lt Gen. Buratai made the commendation at the commissioning of the water project - “82 Division Urban Water Treatment Plant”, which was performed by Governor Ugwuanyi in the company of the GOC, 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Adamu Abubakar and other top military officers; Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State; Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke; former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, Prince Arthur Eze, among others.

The Army Chief noted that Gov. Ugwuanyi in his magnanimity and display of uncommon leadership style had paid a surprise visit to the site during the construction stage and promised to provide a transformer which he said had been installed and equally made available other donations that were utilized judiciously for the completion of the project.

He also appreciated Gov. Ugwuanyi for undertaking to asphalt the road leading to the water plant, saying “we must express our deep appreciation to you, Your Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for tremendous support”.

Buratai also applauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for the peaceful atmosphere in Enugu State as well as “the peaceful co-existence between the Nigerian Army and the Government and people of Enugu State”, pointing out that the state is strategically important to the South East region considering its political and historical antecedents.

While commending all those who contributed to the realization of the project, the Chief of Army Staff assured that “the Nigerian Army will remain responsive, apolitical and professional”.

Earlier in his speech, the GOC 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Abubakar, also appreciated Gov. Ugwuanyi’s efforts towards the successful completion of the water project and his promise to asphalt the road to the plant.

Major General Abubakar explained that the idea of the project was conceived by the Nigerian Army as a result of water shortage in the barracks for more than 20 years and the need to find a lasting solution to the problem.

He disclosed that the water plant which was constructed in 93 days produces one million liters of water per day that has been certified safe for consumption by NAFDAC.

While equally appreciating the contributions of others who made the dream come true, such as personnel of the Nigerian Army Engineering Unit and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the GOC stated that the NYSC camp in Awgu Local Government Area of the state will benefit from the scheme as part of the Army’s corporate social responsibility.

In his address, Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed delight at the completion of the water project as “a very welcome complement to the determined efforts of the Enugu State Government to provide regular supply of drinkable water to all parts of the State”.

The governor commended the Nigerian Army for the initiative which he said will help in no small measure, to improve water supply in the barracks and its environs, and thanked the Chief of Army Staff, the GOC 82nd Division and all the officers and men of the Division for the support and cooperation they have continued to offer his administration especially, in the area of security.

“Enugu City has also expanded and continues to do so in terms of size and population beyond the capacity originally contemplated by the Enugu Urban Water Supply Scheme and as a consequence, the scheme currently requires urgent and substantial upgrade to meet with the contemporary realities.

“We therefore hope to identify areas of possible cooperation and collaboration with the Nigerian Army in this area including the replication of the technology and expertise employed to execute this project, in the exploitation of water resources in the state for the benefit of all residents”, Gov. Ugwuanyi said.

PropertiesLagos: Who Owns The Land? by 042report(op): 5:46am On Jun 15, 2017
GUEST Speaker, Professor Hakeem Danmole, Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, argued that the first settlers in the state were the Aworis, the Eguns and others. Giving an insight into the history of Lagos, Danmole said Lagos Island to the indigenous population was called Eko, a name whose origin was told in two well known traditional but controversial accounts. “Nevertheless, it is important to note that one version of the name relates to the advent of Aworis, while the other is connected to Benin adventures in Lagos.” Despite this controversy, Danmole maintained that what was fairly certain was that the Awori settlement in Lagos was earlier than that of the Benin, which eventually subjugated the emergent settlement. “Written records insist that Olofin, the leader of the Awori at Iddo divided Lagos among his children. Although many versions exist with regards to the number of children of Olofin. These children established various settlements within the Island and beyond,” he said. Chief host of the event, Governor Ambode, attributed the greatness of the state to its ability to be a melting pot for all cultures, just as he said that the people of the state over the years have distinguished themselves in making others feel at home away from home. He recalled that since inception, Lagos had effectively transited from an administrative entity to become the melting point of cultures and the socio-political and economic jurisdiction of global significance, rated today, as the fifth largest economy in Africa. Going down memory lane, Ambode said: “It is important for us at this epochal gathering to refresh our memory about the beginning; the journey of how the Awori played an important role in the evolution of what we call Lagos today. The same applies to the evolution of the Eko Royalty with the coming of the Bini from present day Edo State and even the momentous role played by the Tapa in the making of our dear state. Our greatness is in our ability to be a melting pot for all cultures and as at today, there is no tribe in Nigeria that is not represented in Lagos. From the Hausa/Fulani to the Igbo to the Kanuri to the Ibibio, the Nupe, the Berom, the Igala and so on and so forth all have spaces to live and live well in our dear State. “Lagos is not just national in outlook. It is international. The Americans are here; the British are here; South Africans are in their thousands; the Chinese are not in short supply; and the Indians even have a community in Lagos. With all sense of modesty, there is no other State like Lagos in Nigeria.” In his contribution, a retired justice of the Supreme Court, Justice George Oguntade, called attention to the plight of judges and magistrates in the state. He noted that judges and magistrates are almost overworked, saying he knows this because he is not a stranger to happenings in the state’s judicial sector. While commending the present administration in the state for providing quarters for judges and magistrates, as Oliver Twist, he nevertheless demanded for better and improved welfare package for judges and magistrates in the state. This, according to the jurist is the only way to ensure that the course of justice is not perverted in the state. Justice Oguntade particularly pleaded with the state government to take good care of magistrates, considering especially the fact that not all of them would have the opportunity of rising to become high court judges. Welfare package for magistrates Citing the example of Australia and other developed countries, Oguntade revealed that magistrates are revered and accorded much respect in other climes and ours should not be an exemption. Since Lagos has proved to be a pace setter in many sectors in the country, Oguntade opined that the state should equally show the way for others to follow in the area of good welfare package for magistrates. He also focused on the subject of land acquisition in the state. He frowns at the trend of government acquiring land from owners without paying compensation. This, he said, isn’t good enough as land represents a key economic indicator in the state. The worst aspect of it all, he said, was the fact that government often acquires such land not for immediate purpose but for future/anticipated needs. He said that in as much as government has the right to acquire land for developmental purposes, it is important that when such land is acquired, it must be made use of swiftly without delay while immediate effort must be made to compensate such land owner. He equally calls for more innovations in the state’s land bureau to ensure proper land administration in the state. Oguntade praised the current administration for its numerous innovations in the justice sector which he said is good for effective justice administration. Also speaking at the Lecture, Hon Justice Kuponu Wusu, a retired judge of the Lagos High Court affirmed that though Lagos has become a model for other states in the federation, much still need to be done by both the public and private sectors for the future to be really secured. Justice Wusu specifically called for improvement in power supply in the state in order to fully optimize the industrial and economic potential of the city. He particularly called on government as well as members of the Organized Private Sector to establish more Independent Power Plants across major industrial and economic hubs in the state.

CelebritiesFame Brings Me Negative Attention From Guys – Uche Ogbodo by 042report(op): 5:12am On Jun 10, 2017
…Says she still needs a man in her life after her failed marriage By JULIET EBIRIM Light-skinned and provocative actress, Uche Ogbodo ranks in the upper reef of the ocean when it comes to acting. She has seen it all, done it all but not without some scars to show for it. Her marriage to a footballer husband, was fraught with controversies and crashed just after a couple of months. The marriage was so short-lived that the husband never knew she was pregnant. Seemingly crushed and heartbroken, Uche relocated to US and returned some couple of years ago to reclaim her position as one of the leading ladies in Nollywood. Now a single mother without a husband, she continues her battle of life, winning some and losing some. Here is Uche Ogbodo’s story of triumph and pain; and how she’s winning the battle as an actress and a mother. Uche Ogbodo You’ve been a bit slow at doing movies lately, why is that so? It hasn’t been slow actually. The industry has gotten bigger. That you haven’t been seeing Genevieve in movies doesn’t mean she hasn’t been doing something. The industry is wider now, with more productions and more people. But I’ve been working. What are you working on at the moment? Right now, I’m about to commence the shoot for a new project down in the East. I’m also still in post production for my movie that I’ve been talking about for a while now. I ventured into production and I have two jobs coming out soon. They’ll be out in August hopefully. What was it like producing your own movie? It’s the most stressful thing. I didn’t know producers go through so much to have a project out. Now I know what it takes to be a producer. It’s really difficult. If I used to have issues with producers in the past, now I know better and I’m asking for forgiveness. It’s a mad zone really. How is life now as a single mum compared to when you were married? Life is more fulfilling for me. As a single mother, life is more fulfilling than it would have been as a single girl without a child. Though, I’m still single and unmarried, but I would say if I used to be too emotional, needy or petty, all that is gone, my child fills that vacuum for me. When I want to look into someone’s eyes and feel loved, I have all that in my daughter. She has helped me rebuild myself. 50% of the woman I have become comes from my having a baby. It has turned me around to the very destiny I was born to accomplish. Does that mean you’re not looking forward to a new relationship? I’m still hoping to find that wonderful human being that would fill the remaining part of my needs. I’m open to anything. Yes, I’m dating, but I haven’t found the one. What’s your idea of ‘the one’? I don’t like to say, because you never know. Back in the days, I used to say this is the kind of man I want and all that but you know, we’re women and when a different kind of man comes and lies to you, you just fall head over heels. In the past, I always painted pictures, but eventually I fell for the wrong person. So, let God give me the kind of man that he knows is best for me. I’m open to that different kind of man that is not in my picture. What is your relationship with your ex like? Are you on talking terms? No, we’re not talking. He doesn’t keep in touch, but that’s fine. You’re looking so different and trimmed, what’s with the new look? It’s all in the package of becoming a better person. You can’t keep saying ‘I want to be successful’ when you don’t look successful. You need to work on yourself, though it takes a lot of endurance and discipline. To get there, I knew I had to grab it ‘by fire by force’ and it has to begin with my appearance. I have to impress people, so that my looks will match my name. My former body was banging but not exactly how I wanted it. I want the banging killer body and this (my new body) is killing it (Laughs) Would you be delving into cinema movies? Yeah, definitely. I’m already there. One of my projects is premiering in London and Spain, and the other is premiering here in Nigeria. ‘Stolen Vow’ is premiering in London in August and in Spain in September. ‘Rib-Tied’ is premiering in Nigeria. What has fame robbed you of and what doors has it opened for you? Fame has brought me recognition. Fame has brought me pain and fortune. Fame has also erased the real me from the eyes of people, but I’m not going to cry about it. I believe that I have two personalities, so I project my famous part as ‘goddess’ and my personal part as ‘Uche’. I have been able to separate both. So, if I’m getting any hate from people, I channel it to ‘goddess’. You’re not insulting the real Uche. People judge me based on who I’m not and refuse to see who I really am. I don’t blame them because they don’t know the real me, they just take me at TV face value. But it’s fine. Fame has also brought me negative attention from guys in the area of relationship. People tend to fall in love with the you on TV and not the real you. And when they get to know the real you, they might not like it, but still stick around just because you’re famous. And then you end up hurting each other, because the relationship is fake and based on fantasy. Whichever character I played that you fell in love with is not me. So, it’s really crazy. What’s the worst thing you’ve heard about yourself? I have heard that I’m possessed and that I’m gay. I’ve heard that I’m ugly, In fact I hear that one everyday. But when they get to meet me, they are surprised and they say ‘Ooh you’re beautiful’. But all those things don’t bother me. The real Uche is wonderful, calm, gorgeous in and out. Some people are of the view that it’s better to be a baby-mama than to be married, what’s your opinion on this growing trend? I’m a single mother already. It happened by fate. I never wanted it to happen this way. I wanted to be married. I think it’s an individual thing. I don’t judge people. If you think you don’t want to get married, you just want to be a baby-mama. For heaven’s sake, it’s your life. But if you think that marriage is what works for you, then all well and good. I want to get married. I need a partner in my life, because I don’t think I want to spend the rest of my life alone with my children. Even at this age, my daughter keeps asking me about her father. She has never seen him. This isn’t what I want and it hurts me sometimes. But what can I do and I am hoping that I can get a good daddy for my daughter. I don’t want a daddy that would hurt me and my child, but one that would love us both. So, I’m not in a hurry. I pray that someday I will be able to say to my daughter ‘This is your daddy’, because every time she asks I never say anything.

Enugu Workers pass vote of confidence in Gov. Ugwuanyi

The workers of Enugu State under the auspices of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) today passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for his administration’s giant strides in just two years in office.

Rising from a one-day symposium organized by the state chapter of the TUC to assess the two-year performance of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration in the state, the workers after listening to speeches delivered by the guest speakers, such as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo and Chairman of Enugu State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ESCCIMA), Rev. (Surv.) Ugo Chime, unanimously proclaimed that the governor has performed well in office and asked him to continue in office.

Presenting their speeches, the speakers highlighted the remarkable achievements of Governor Ugwuanyi with emphasis on peace initiatives, security, good governance, workers’ welfare and infrastructural development especially in the rural areas of the state.

They noted that Enugu State has been enjoying peace and security of lives and property since the inception of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration, saying that such feats have made it possible for the entrenchment of good governance in the state despite the current economic challenges in the country.

Chief Nwodo noted that he was delighted at the kind of peace, love and unity being enjoyed in the state today, telling the workers that it was as a result of the above that “none of you has been arrested or intimidated since the inauguration of this administartion”.

He noted that in spite of the fact that “Enugu State is third from the bottom in the federal allocation list”, the governor has been able to execute numerous road projects mostly in the rural areas and installed street lights to the excitement of dwellers, among others.

Also speaking, the state’s Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Prince Cornelius Nnaji, commended Gov. Ugwuanyi’s landmark achievements in the state, adding that the governor gave the Transitional Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas “a free hand to manage our due allocations without any interference as seen in the transparent management of the Local Government share of the Paris Club refund used to offset arrears of salaries and pensions of council workers and pensioners”.

The ESCCIMA Chairman said that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s good governance has attracted foreign investors to the state, disclosing that over N20 billion foreign investments are underway in Enugu State as a result of the conducive business environment created by the governor.

Earlier in his welcome address, the state Chairman of TUC, Comrade Igbokwe Chukwuma Igbokwe, stated that the symposium themed “Good Governance and the Development of Enugu State: A focus on the present administration” was designed by the Congress “to generate opinion pool from the various sectors of the economy of Enugu State on the performance of this administration”.

In his response, Gov. Ugwuanyi thanked the State Chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) “for deeming it fit and in collaboration with all the civil/public servants in Enugu State to organise this event”.

According to the governor, “we have always said (and I reaffirm), that we will forever be grateful to the organized labour and to all civil servants in Enugu State for the exceptional support and cooperation that they have offered my administration since inception.

“They have indeed remained our trusted allies and partners in the quest to enthrone good governance in Enugu State and I must once again, express my gratitude for their kindness in conferring on me, the award of “The Most Labour Friendly Governor in the history of Enugu State during the last Workers’ day or May day celebrations”.

Chronicles Of DNA Ep1

Secretly tiptoing to the Boy's room, Mark successfully took out a strand if hair from his young and only child, he secured it just like you'll hold am egg. Raw egg of course.

The next day, he called up the Lab scientist and submitted both samples and headed home.

It was a Saturday morning, after a nice jogs with his wife, Mark went home, washed off and decided to give then all a treat. You know that kind if treat when your wife sits very close to you with one of those romantically sawed dinner Pink gown, her flat shoes were so perfect. You'll think it was made on her order. And her hair? That ponytail where she just has the hair tied with a band. That's just how pretty she looked.

Now when you look at the left hand side, you have his heir apparent sited just beside you, cracking the bone of chicken. That kind bone you girls shamefully refuse to crack when a guy buys you fried rice and salad.

Tolu is just a replica of his mother. He had his Tommy Hilfiger Polo shirt, it was deep brown colored and his pants? The Original Vickers Chinos and then a set of brown Moccasin shoes.

Mark and his wife were so in love, even their 15 years old son couldn't help but feel jealous each time the whip of love strikes 'em both.

A few hours later, the putting was over, so they went home and slept after a few movies. Oh my, what a family.

4th day finally came, the lab scientist called Mark, the results are ready for a pickup. Mark became so anxious but wary.

What if the results are negative? What if Tolu is actually not my son, I'm so fond if him. Each time he smiles I see my self back then when I was his age. He reminds me of my first years as a school boy.

What would I do if he eventually turned out to be the product of Mr Anthony. The guy my wife dated before we married? What if....!

Mark finally kicked his car and within an hour, he was at the spot for the pickup.

The scientist actually tapped him and made him realize everything happens for a reason and to never lose hope on the one you love because of the writings on a paper for love, love for a child was something beyond the series of letters scripted in a sheet of paper in the name of #DNA.

Mr Mark got to his office, he was more than eager to open the results because once again, the questions hit him again.

Now he finally opened the test results and you wouldn't believe what happened.....

The result actually showed that Tolu was....!

PoliticsMisconception Of The Word Efficiency By Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed: A Case Study by 042report(op): 1:20pm On Jun 04, 2017
MISCONCEPTION OF THE WORD EFFICIENCY BY GOVERNOR ABDULFATTAH AHMED: A CASE STUDY OF ILLEGALITIES PERPETRATED AT SHONGA FARM

“If a foolish person gives a rubbish account of a situation, definitely it will never be a foolish person like him that will be called upon to adjudge the matter”.
Recently, I watched a video of Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara State giving the comprehensive account of the ownership of Shonga Farm. He stated that the Shonga farm do not belong to Kwara State except for the negligible share which was given to kwara state government consequent upon the little contribution of Kwara State government. He stated further that a whole lot of investors are Zimbabweans, South Africans and banks. The Governor said people criticised their running of Shonga farm simply because the running is EFFICIENT. The word EFFICIENT was emphatically and loudly leaned on by the Governor to justify frauds and illegalities perpetrated at Shonga farm. There is a need to contextualize the word ‘EFFICIENCY’ beyond the parochial and shallow thinking of our amiable Governor. We would be hundred percent constructive in our criticism as directed by His Excellency in the said video.
Non inclusion of Kwarans or Nigerians in the partnership is INEFFICIENCY. If indeed the Shonga farm is indeed public-private investment as alludes by the Governor in the video, it is a huge INEFFICIENCY not to have introduced kwarans or nigerians investors to this project before calling on South Africans and other vicious people to invest. Nigerians will surely be ready and eager to invest in this kind of project if called upon to invest and such an investment will surely be well secured because indigenes are involved. I must further clarify that inviting foreign investors is not bad but there is a need to include the willing citizens.
Decisions of kwara state government to alienate Shonga farm to the foreigners without due consultation at the detriment of indigenes who might want to use the land is INEFFICIENCY. Land belongs to citizens but government holds land for people in trust and whatsoever the government intends to use the land for must be to the benefit of the people and masses needs to be notified.
INEFFICIENCY is a situation whereby you do not think of a benefit that your involvement as a kwarans’ trustee in a project will yield to kwarans. Governor Abdulfatta Ahmed said categorically in his statement that the state government was even forced to participate in the investment because the investors did not trust their relationship with banks which he claim to have introduced them to. It means if this issue of trust was not raised the kwara state government will never think of monetizing the roads constructed and electricity piloted as kwara state government shares. It shows the level of incompetence and INEFFICIENCY.
Shonga supposed to be another opening for an employment for kwarans but it is an unfortunate situation to say that the little kwarans working at Shonga farm today are only engaged in an undignified works with little pay regardless of the result submitted. This can never be called EFFICIENCY.
It has never for once being reported to kwarans on how much kwarans generate from the farm and what it was used for. Income from Shonga Farm has never for once being disclosed to the entire kwarans either from gazette or kwara dailies. This nondisclosure in itself is INEFFICIENCY.
If the activities going on in the farm are mainly for commercial purpose, failure to facilitate a means by which kwarans will have access to those produce is INEFFICIENCY. Nobody says you should give for free. It is a demonstration of brutality on the side of Governor to have denied kwarans access to farm produce. Wherever these produce are export to, it will definitely add reliefs to the needs and wellbeing of the people living there. This will surely be at the detriment of mined kwarans.
It is further necessary to state clearly without mincing word that the sum of N2 Billion loaned from the Federal Government is indeed a fraud. It is a fraud in the sense that Federal government gave that loan as a share of kwarans who are expected to do more in agriculture in order to give more reliefs to citizen in the area of employment, food surplus and economic viability. I will indeed indulge kwara state Governor to throw more light on how he intends to meet up with these expectations when shonga farm operates in this manner you have said. It might even be the bigger establishment in the world, how does this affect kwara state in particular and Nigeria at large. There is nothing EFFICIENT in all the activities surrounding shonga farm.
Finally, kwarans are not foolish but we are only the lovers of peace. All you have offered since your resumption of office is nothing but hunger, unrest, and hardship. It is high time we fight to revive the most valuable asset of kwarans you have taken from us. We have prepared for the bloodless war against you and your leader (Senator Bukola Saraki) by 2019 and you will come to testify that it will not be fraud as usual. Mind you, our weapons will be limited the intellect and vote. Watch out.

CrimeMiscreants Go On Rampage In Lagos Killing 3 And Many Injured by 042report(op): 6:07am On Jun 02, 2017
The lingering war between social miscreants at Okesuna and Patey streets, Lagos Island, assumed a violent dimension yesterday, as three persons were feared dead

Many others injured in the free-for-all, in which broken bottles, knives, axes and guns were used. The warring factions, as gathered, had been at daggers-drawn over supremacy for close to five years. The latest clash started after a man, identified as Osigin, was attacked at about 7a.m., while returning to his Oshodi home, which he fled from, following the crisis that erupted over the murder of Hamburger. He was said to have been stabbed by Patey boys for supporting their rival. When news of his attack filtered in, Okesuna boys went for his rescue and called for reinforcement from Oshodi boys. Osigin, as gathered, was rushed to a private hospital where he later died. News of his death sparked a renewed battle as miscreants from Okepopo, Salu Court and Okesuna invaded Patey Street, where two persons were reportedly shot.

ABA—A man, identified as Chibuike Onwuchekwa, inflicted injuries on his housemaid for failing to fill two water containers at Umuga Ovom in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
See how Man rubs salt, pepper into housemaid’s injuries in Aba

Eyewitnesses told 042report that Onwuchekwa and his wife had, last Sunday, sent the young girl (names withheld) to fill two water containers in their house from a nearby borehole, while they left for church service. The couple returned from church to discover that the girl, aged about 10, was unable to fill the two containers before the borehole owner closed shop. Onwuchekwa beat the girl, leaving her with injuries, locked her up and left for an event with his wife, despite the pleas from neighbours.

A resident of the community, who gave his name as Nkem, said they decided to invite the Police when the girl escaped from the house to inform them that Onwuchekwa poured a mixture of salt and pepper on the injuries he inflicted on her during the earlier beating. He disclosed that the girl had suffered several of such beatings from Onwuchekwa. In one instance, when she was accused of theft in her school, he beat her even though she was absolved of the accusation by her teachers. Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, said he was not aware of the incident. However, a senior Police officer at the Eastern Ngwa Division confirmed the incident, adding that the girl is receiving medical attention.
