Oppeolluwa:Hmm. Do you know that that is one thing that separates him from most of the Nigerian 'big men'? He creates employment within Nigeria. He makes most of his money from Nigeria, anyway. |
As Aliko Dangote, rated by Forbes as the richest Black person, becomes the first non-political office holder to recieve a GCON, what can we learn from his life and business strategy? http://kudizone.com/blog/2011/11/15/aliko-dangote-nigerian-made-world-class-billionaire/ |

Great speech! At least as far as speeches go, it's a good one ![]() |
080Nigeria:I guess what I'm trying to say to Bluelabs is: fight it out if you feel cheated but don't turn it into a smear campaign. Even on the battle field, there are rules of war which are observed by soldiers with integrity. And my Nairaland example is simply to illustrate that most of us who are making all the noise now are just as guilty as the CPC is in this case. That doesn't make it right. But it provides some perspective for our judgement and criticisms. So, before you cast a stone . . . |
I admire the 'fight' for justice. I think it is very much in order that Bluelabs should resist the piracy of their idea. However, I also think that the present dimension of the fight does not preach the message of the song. It looks more like an attempt to gain popularity, money, smear someone else and smells of blackmail. If indeed Bluelabs indicated willingness to 'sell' their idea as CPC claims, why suddenly publish the 'Buhari Stole Our Idea' website? Note that I'm not exonerating CPC. I'm just saying that Bluelabs has added an extra dimension to the fight that makes their motives questionable. From the publicly available version of the Facebook story, the idea of Facebook was not even thought of by Mark Zuckerberg himself. But guess what? The original owners first made use of all proper channels and fought a good fight without discrediting Zuckerberg. That's 'transforming' warfare. You fight to win your case, not to destroy your enemy. They are two different things! And just by the way, Buhari may be the flagbearer of the CPC, but he is not CPC. CPC is a different legal entity from Buhari. So, claiming that Buhari (who is not even the Chairman of the party) 'stole' the idea when nothing can traced to him as a person is actually slander. I'm not a lawyer but as a layman, this is what I see: it's wrong to claim that Buhari stole your idea if the idea was on YouTube (a place for supposedly copyright-free videos). It's more appropriate to say that the person who uploaded it on YouTube originally violated the copyright. It becomes a crime for the CPC campaign team if they are officially informed of the violation and they refuse to take action within a reasonable time frame. Let me give you a good example: Nairaland is a forum where people post all kinds of things. Some of these things are copyrighted- newspaper extracts, intellectual property, Does Seun become a criminal by giving such 'news' publicity (linking it from the homepage)? In a sense, by so doing, he has endorsed it! But it would become criminal of him if the copyright owners complain and he doesn't do anything about it within a reasonable time frame. So, it's easy to blame Buhari. But before we do that, we should blame Seun and everyone who has ever posted any copyrighted content on Nairaland. We should probably even be closing down Nairaland by now ![]() |
I wasn't in the mood to post anything today, but with such a post as this- I simply must respond. What is the commendation for? For not paying the salaries of teachers and playing God instead? For repairing our roads in such a way that the repairs must be done every 2 months so that they keep awarding contracts? For the 'high' standard of education in Oyo State? For security with thieves robbing everywhere? I thought there was a general consensus as to who the worst governor in Nigeria is. So why the commendation? ![]() |
I thin that from my own experience and subsequent dialog with Google forum users, it is advisable to use Adsense on only websites that are old- to a certain level at least. New sites often don't have stabilized traffic. Besides, the traffic may be coming in patterns that Google bots won't like. So it is better to put it on older sites that are relatively stable. |
To tell you the truth, I didn't expect a ban either. I was keeping to the rules so I never envisaged getting a ban. If I had been doing anything fraudulent, I would have cashed my checks instead of purposely keeping them on hold as a way of aggregating them. I agree with @utimades. But I must point out that Google gave you that grace because you've had a relationship with them for a long period and your account must have developed some kind of consistency. For me, my main adsense website is a new one (just a few months old). It has however grown very much and gets a lot of daily pageviews. My adsense earnings were also normal- much less than 10 percent of my traffic clicked the ads. But within 3 weeks while I was away from home, The click through rate just shot abnormally and I earned much more. This happened 2 different days. Unfortunately, I couldn't really study the trends because I didn't have access to a computer where I was and could only make do with my phone. I'm telling this story because it was a very painful experience for me. Apparently, some bot or stupid person just did the clicking and Google didn't care enough to confirm. As someone who advertises on Adwords and a few other platforms, I know what it means to spend your hard earned money and would hate to have some fool just clicking my ads fraudulently so I know it is important to be strict with website owners. However, that doesn't justify an unfair suspension of innocent account owners. I didn't even have access to a computer when it happened, talk less of clicking the ads. |
Caroguama:But they clearly state that you should not register again .Actually, my account was also disabled last week. I didn't click my ads- was not even available for 3 weeks prior to that time- so I couldn't even have clicked the ads by mistake. But I did notice that there was a day my account earned above normal. It happened again and like 2 days after, the account was disabled. If anyone was clicking, it was definitely no one I knew. I definitely didn't instruct anyone to do such on my behalf. But how do you explain that to Google? |
I know of a hot Nigerian forum that is growing very fast: www.kudizone.com. It's new but I will put in in the top 10 considering it's rapid growth and quality of discussions. |

I'm quite surprised but pleased to see this thread here. I own the forum and it's great to see that some people think highly of it. So, thanks everyone (especially the topic starter whom I don't think I've ever met). Someone raised an issue having to do with security. I've not encountered any loopholes and I've not recieved any complaints but could you do me the favour of sending me a pm? I would really appreciate that. Thanks. |
Hi. I own a forum: www.kudizone.com. It's just a little more than 3 months old, has close to 400 members and is doing pretty well with Alexa rankings. I think that the main thing with starting forums is good content. Offer things that interest people. Be consistent and don't lose hope. People will criticize you but if you can accept the criticisms in good faith, you will go far. About making money, there is nothing wrong with that. But money making should be a consequence of providing value. |

Who wrote this list? Don't they understand the meaning of influence? How can you say that people, half of whom are not even known to the average Nigerian, are the most influential? What factors would make Adichie more influential than Soyinka? (Make no mistake, I admire the woman. But there is no factor that would place her above Soyinka. Not literature, not politics, not activism, nothing.) The average Nigerian includes the people in villages and the illiterates. In fact, that's the majority of Nigeria. Nigeria is not just Lagos and Abuja but Jigawa, Borno and Katsina too. When you talk about the most influential in Nigeria, you should look for people whose influence cuts across. If it wouldn't, then it should at least be so strong in whatever sector the person is prominent in that it would warrant such an inclusion. There are some of these names that wont strike a bell when mentioned to 9 out of 10 people living outside Lagos. And to those who are always insulting Pastor Adeboye, I have a very simple question. This guy has built a city that houses thousands of people and employs thousands. He has built schools, hospitals, besides pastoring Nigeria's largest church. He has written bestselling books. Coming to his profile, he graduated with a first class and is a Ph D holder. Crowds go to meet him in hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions in that bush he transformed into a city called Redemption Camp. Unlike most of Nigeria, Redemption Camp has very good power supply (mainly generated withing the place). The water system is good even though it serves hundreds of thousands, This man has even started a university. My question to you guys who are trying to gain cheap popularity on Nairaland by insulting him is this: What have you done? What achievements can we accrue to your name? Besides your posts on Nairaland, how have you benefited Nigeria? May I say that many of you are just liabilities to this nation. Stop trying to distract those who are working. If you can't change the world, at least you can shut up! |
I have been watching Aljazeera for quite some time. It is one of the news stations I really like. I even prefer it to CNN. However, I have also followed their coverage of Nigerian issues since they published a particular news item on Nigeria (unfortunately, I don't have the time to locate it now). In it, they spoke about IBB (whom they call a candidate of the 'Muslim North" while the incumbent, Jonathan, was from the "Christian South" . I must say that the article was quite balanced, though. But it suggested to me that Aljazeera (and possibly the Arab World) would be interested in the Nigerian elections based on that strong factor- religion. So, if all of a sudden they are noticing bomb blasts and airing 'interviews' indicting the incumbent president, something suggests to me that there is more than meets the eye. Could it be that it is extremely important to certain people outside Nigeria that the next president comes from the 'Muslim North' and not the 'Christian South'? Could it be that it doesn't even matter if that guy from the North annulled the most free and fair elections we ever had and has so much to answer for in terms of allegations of brutal murders and fraud as long as he is from the Muslim North? I must make two things clear: I am not against Muslims (I don't mind if Nigeria has a Muslim president). What we need now is integrity and not religion. Secondly, I am not against the north even though I am not a northerner. If Nigeria were truly united, it wouldn't matter if our president was from the North or South. Having said those, I can not but be uncomfortable with Aljazeera's recent news. |
I was @ the Redemption Camp yesterday and I heard his pronouncement. I'm glad because I think such steps are long overdue. We can't allow thieves to take over the nation while we just pray. We ought to show our faith by taking steps! |
This looks like good news. The only problem is that whenever people are arrested in Nigeria, there is a less than 10 percent chance that they are actually criminals and not just victims of some bribe-seeking policemen. So, I'm not so hopeful. |
We have big problems in Nigeria. Biiiig problems. When the First Lady has all the paraphernalia in the world, Chief Press Secretary, The office is not even exactly constitutional |
hercules07:There is every justification for running away. Have you ever been a victim of the system? Do you know what it is like to be accused by people who want to silence you at all costs? He needs to manipulate the media. Take a look at most posts about him even on NL. Most people have labelled him as a thief. It doesn't matter if he is one or not. In Nigeria, news like catching a rich man 'stealing our money' is what sells because it appeals to the poverty mentality of the average Nigerian. So far, he has been tried and found guilty in the court of public opinion. If anything, he owes it to himself to clear his name if possible and at least expose the crook called Sanusi. |
naijaking1: |
I wonder why this did not make the front page. In fact, it wasn't very well publicized in the press either. That in itself shows that bad news is good news for the press- it's the accusations that sell, not the fact that they could be wrong and cheap. Like I have always said, the trial of Akingbola has been subjected to sentiments and public opinion. Anyone who is ready to examine the matter critically will know that Sanusi has hidden agendas. Unfortunately, people are too happy to criticize any rich man who is being suspected because Nigerians excuse their own poverty based on the wealth of the rich. Also, it seems that many people are 'beefing' RCCG and are happy about any news that seems to question the integrity of the church or it's pastors. If these 2 sentiments were removed, any normal thinking Nigerian would know that it is abnormal for a bank which was formerly classified as one of the top banks in the country to suddenly (not gradually) be in this state. Again, I say it with all vehemence: Sanusi is just a cheap attention getter. He is misguided and apparently has hidden agendas. Anyone who has run a big business before will know that if the authorities wish to find a fraud that does not exist, it can't be too hard to create. It's like the issue of the Nigerian police. You can have all your papers but if they are unhappy with you, they keep prying until they 'find' something wrong. They will allege that your papers are not original enough or the paint colour on your car is a different shade or your fire extinguisher is liquid instead of powder . The banking sector is such that it is very easy to find 'wrong' things if you really want to find them. After all, we are talking in billions.NOTE: I don't attend RCCG, I don't work in Intercontinental and I definitely don't know Akingbola. But I do know that if everyone can remove sentiments and be objective about this case , it's pretty obvious. |
