I think the man should be given a fair chance to defend himself before Nigerians label him as a criminal. If you really think about it, people have decided that he is a criminal based on sentiments. Does being a Pastor in RCCG mean he can't be accused of criminality? No. Even Jesus was accused. Do we have proof that he stole anything? No. The CBN governor said so, and frankly speaking, the CBN Governor has been very whimsical and his words don't hold much water as far as I am concerned. That is not to say that the man has not committed any crime. If he has, he should be punished for it. However until such is genuinely proven, I think Nigerians should consider that someone who has built a mega company and employed thousands deserves at least the chance to defend himself. Those who rip our money in public in the name of government are rewarded with chieftaincy titles. But when we find a good man who may have gone wrong, we are ready to crucify him without even hearing him out. |
That is the official version. How about what they share unofficially? |
What are we celebrating? And why are we celebrating by changing a note that was changed very recently? |
elite:I agree with the guy who said that if he has broken the law, he should face the music. But I am not so quick to judge. Like @elite said, this man has contributed to our economy more than all his enemies put together. Like I said, I don't believe he should be excused from his crimes if he has committed them, however, I feel that Sanusi and the EFCC are playing on the general mentality of poverty in Nigeria. The average Nigerian is happy when a rich man is arrested because they believe 'he stole our money'. In other words, they are using his wealth as an excuse for their poverty. Sanusi's opinion seems to be right now only because he is in power. Why didn't Soludo complain when he was there? And in extension, why didn't the FG raise any eyebrows before things became so bad. That goes to say that really nothing was done in the dark. That was how banks were run in Nigeria. If things could have gone so bad, then we should start accusations from the CBN governor of that time to the President. But before we do that, I think we should study how big countries are run even in developed countries. We should try and see the things that go on behind the scenes that even the government sometimes knows about and pretends not to see. Again, I am not against punishing a criminal. I only think that a person is not a criminal because those who have the 'happy power' have said so. We should allow events to unfold and see the big picture before we judge. |
I really hope the Government house is disconnected. That would finally show how silly the so called rulers are. Poor administrators. If it were to be a company, the state would be filling for bankruptcy. |

Dissssgusssting. I wonder why we blame primary school children for fighting. This is just a case study of a stupid disagreement. Please can someone teach our First lady the meaning of self-control? And can someone else be so kind as to explain to her what public etiquette is all about? That woman can just barely make speeches in public. Yet she is insulting someone? What she said might have been sensible. But the dignity of her office is not in power (constitutionally she has none) but in a word called 'tact'. She could have said the same thing and achieved a much better result leaving no one offended. |
There is no minimum balance, at least none that I'm aware of. However, you need to make an initial deposit of at least 100 dollars. |
How come we get to hear good news from Lagos and bad, no- very bad- news from a three letter state close by? One is building up, the other is tearing down. One is working hard, the other is collecting chieftaincy titles, Could that be the difference between education and illiteracy? |
cultey:Right now, I would even leave EFCC out of it. How about the Nigerian Police? With the kind of criminality that goes on among those who should catch criminals, how can we expect good elections? I am trying to be hopeful. But if urgent steps are not taken, the elections will go as usual, meaning the people will vote and those with money and power will win. |
Good news. We should celebrate little victories. But it's just a step forward and we still have a long way to go, so back to work! |
The guy is booooorn again ![]() Maybe he can at least claim the responsibility for his actions and leave the devil out of it. |
Not only would I choose to be Black, I would even choose to be a Nigerian. I have no apologies for who I am! |
I know the solution to this Naija guy's problem. He has been infected with British Demons. He must have eaten British vegetables ![]() Let's take him to Ogunpa River and wash his head. ![]() |

Thanks. I'll try opening up some boards. |
Hi, everyone. I just started a forum: www.kudizone.com It is mainly about money though it also has some general topics. But the main thing isn't starting the forum. It is getting traffic to it. Does anyone have any really useful tips? Dhtml, Seun, I'm asking for your advice ![]() |
The one that annoys me the most is MTN internet. It's really looooooousy. Fast- yes. But unreasonably expensive, disconnects too often and doesn't support many websites (at least its not to good for certain ports that are useful for me as a web designer). I really hope someone talks sense to them. If they reap off billions and lose goodwill, they will ultimately crash. Unfortunately, I am being reminded now that we don't have many better options, |
gReenmAn:Yes, I really do agree with you. Whether he is a thief or not is a sentimental matter in this issue. By insisting on performing the check, the BA officials insulted all of us. I DO NOT SUPPORT THIEVES but I do wish to state that if a man is the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Reps, he is officially empowered to act as 'us', meaning Nigeria. That position goes with some dignity. Anything less is rubbing the entire country in the mud. The BA authorities should not only apologize to the speaker, they should apologize to the whole country. Would they have done the same thing to their own officials of similar position? |
I have also been very uncomfortable with some of his (the speaker's) recent moves. However, it is an high level insult from the BA officials. It shows disregard for our government in every way. It is even a national embarrassment. Yet, I can't but feel that our politicians have brought this mess on us. We've rubbished ourselves so much with corruption that the world- even grossly unqualified people- easily find it convenient to pour dirt on us. So who's fault is it? ![]() |
I'm happy that finally the FG is talking. But I would celebrate only when they begin to act. ![]() |

Well, I don't like the guy. He is always talking and most times it is just biased rubbish coated with high sounding economic terms. So even if he is saying something that make sense, I can't listen to him. |

Interesting! ![]() I am not really interested in wasting my time studying the alleged assassination plots. It's not exactly as if any of the people involved is really useful to the state, anyway. (That doesn't justify murder, though!) However, I do ask for the basics for every member of Oyo State: good roads, good water supply, provision of jobs, are these too much to ask? Let the guy in question stop offending our intelligence with noise from the highly substandard TV station he controls telling of 'achievements' he doesn't have. Tell him to start paying teachers and other civil servants instead of insulting them in public. Tell him to stop playing politics with the lives of students in LAUTECH. Tell him to start addressing us in English and show some civilization when speaking. And pleeease, tell him to stop stealing our votes. Not everybody likes Fashola, but at least there is a general consensus that he has made some remarkable changes. I wish someone would tell our own governor here that it is not sufficient to just be in the record books as a 'past governor'. It is better to leave a good name ![]() |
Great Idea. My blogs are stated below. The first is my personal blog while the other is a new one on movies books and songs (just as the name suggests). http://olumideadeleye.com http://moviesbooksandsongs.com |

Jesus was definitely not poor. He had access to everything he wanted. If he could feed thousands at will, get the attention of a good number of fish for Peter's use, use a brand new colt on request, dine with the richest men of his time, he definitely wasn't poor. And I don't expect his followers to be either. If pastors are rich, they deserve it. Wealth is a consequence of influence. The most influential man in Nigeria is a pastor and I know that many pastors would be on the first fifty. So by all standards they deserve to be rich. But let me add a twist to it. Do you think it is easy to be a successful pastor? I tell you, it is every inch as difficult as starting a successful company. In case you don't know, many churches don't survive the first 3 years. Among those that do, like 50 percent will never get up to 1000 members. Being a good pastor takes the right blend of leadership skills, charisma, inspiration, caring for your members, solving a need that draws people to you, I am not a pastor and I probably will never be. I also do not support pastors who obtain money from church members under false pretenses (and there are many of such). However, that does not make it wrong for a pastor to be wealthy. And it definitely would be bad and unreasonable logic to conclude that every wealthy pastor is a thief. ![]() |
