Angry Nigerian pilgrims who opposed the return of Mallam Yar'Adua to Nigeria yesterday attacked the leader of the Federal Government delegation to this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia, Senator Mahmud Kanti Bello, for insisting that Yar'Adua must return to Nigeria.
The incident took place around 12:20pm Saudi time (10:20am Nigerian time) at Suda Hijal area on Mansur Street in Mecca. The vehicle in which Bello was travelling and the two others conveying other officials on the delegation had all their windscreens smashed when the irate pilgrims began to hurl stones at them.
Bello, who was in company of two ministers, chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Alhaji Muhammad Bello and other officials, was at Suda Hijal to flag off the luggage weighing after the hajj. Suda Hijal is one of three luggage weighing centers designated only for Nigerian pilgrims.
No sooner had he started addressing pilgrims who turned in for the exercise on the need to stick to the 40kg per pilgrim’s travelling bag and 10kg hand bag than the pilgrims began to openly object the exercise and stone him along with other members of the delegation.
The angry pilgrims, according to Daily Trust findings, were those from Bello’s home state Katsina, Adamawa, Kebbi and Zamfara States. Bello was unhurt. The timely intervention of the persons in charge of the weighing center and some loaders saved the situation.
The pilgrims’ main grudges, according to a witness who is also a loader at the luggage weighing center, was Bello’s insistence that their luggage must be weighed,

15 Nigerian pilgrims died this year This is serious. Multiply that by how many nations of the world were represented, the figure could be mindblowingOr is it only the Nigerians ones that die na so death like them reach? I didn't know the Hajj was a suicide mission on itself If 15 people died in every crusade in Nigeria I bet people would think twice before going. |

Why? You are being too opinionated, Osisi. For a single example I admit am the only active member aboard NL who's Hausa and from this very region, i.e. North. Thus the idea of taking NL as microcosm or whatsoever to calculate the number of Muslim there are in Nigeria sound very novice and hight unintelligent to every able-thinking person. Hence whats the point of wasting invaluable time "debating" with you? There is of course none. why are you the only Hausa on the forum, you claim to be the most populous tribe in Nigeria and only one is found here. Internet never reach una huts? |

THE-AMAKA: @ tpia. you seem to have a lot of animosity towards igbos, why? dont forget how i first encountered you on nairaland over a stupid comment you made. and dont say anything, cause i didnt even know who you were to not like you ahead of time. THAT is what made me see how fishy you are. you say you are not yoruba, why do you feel the need to play captain save a ho all the time, and waiting at your computer waiting to pounce on anyone who says anything "wrong" ? but dont hesitate to join the parade in the attack on igbos with your petty comments. eh? what is it with you? a married woman with children, here having tribal wars with "kids" na wetin? she talks like she has a romeo sef, lol Tpia is married? tpia.: ^^ speak as you like jare. You've dated a few so you know Yoruba men inside out more than their own mother sef.
Being married is no reason not to appreciate the charms of Yoruba males- they cant help being wanted by females from all over. Nice to know something desirable can come out of the Yoruba stinkiness and skankiness.
at least I assume you searched the length and breadth of Igboland and still found no one who could erase the memory of your Yoruba romeos.
na so e be. I am not brain dead I know a good thing when I see it However, there is something about an Igbo man that only someone married to them can appreciate If you want a lover that will stand by you through thick and thin and would give his life for his wife and children and work his fingers to the bone to feed his family, get an Okoro man that eats stone without drinking water That's not to say there are no faithful Yoruba men but if I had 2 men from both tribes with the same qualities,it's obvious what my preference would be |

tpia.: ^^ dont worry about me.
You're the one overly concerned about Yoruba men and polygamy, when you claim to be happily married to a monogamous handsome Igbo brother.
so why the intense interest in Yoruba men's private parts, their sex lives, and other things which should be irrelevant to you? Overtly concerned? Yoruba men are romantic,I'll give it to them anyday I dated a few so I'm speaking from experience They are also blessed anatomically,is that a crime? should I not speak the truth again because I'm married? Now that I've confirmed those facts, go and find them out for yourself ,age is not on your side I've given you valid info to work with, there's now a n area of nairaland for personal ads,you should be there more often and get yourself a man Time waits for no one People pay therapists to give them this advice I'm dishing out for free, you should say eshe ma |

tpia.: ^^ yes, we all know your Yoruba lovers boyfriends were from polygamous homes. They were muslims too.
Now, go and cook your evening meal- sebi you say you don abandon these polygamous Yoruba men and married your fine monogamous Igbo brother. So wetin you dey find for Yoruba men matter again.
abi your eyes never leave that side? I wonder why you couldn't get yourself one even as a 9th wife na so your condition bad reach? Is there no one you can grab and pay him to marry you Ozu |
Culture › Re: Why Do Yoruba Girls Not Mind Being 2nd, 3rd 4th And Even 5th Wives? by 0hsisi: 3:54am On Dec 02, 2009 |
Yoruba men make good lovers, they are also very romantic smooth talkers but have a hard time being faithful to one wife. I think it's because many Yorubas are products of polygamous homes and I guess children repeat the examples set by their role models aka parents. A girl or boy raised in a polygamous home is likely not to see anything wrong in repeating the pattern set by their parents and this modern times when polygamy is dwindling in many parts of southern Nigeria, polygamy still thrives well in the Yoruba nation due partly to their high Muslim population cmpared to any other region in the south. |

I know the poster started this with mischief in mind but it's no secret that besides Hausas, Yorubas are the second most polygamous tribe in Nigeria. It is not unusual for a Yoruba man to have a lot of children outside of wedlock with known concubines.I'm not saying Igbos are saints but Igbos are generally more committed to monogamous relationships than Yorubas. The courts in western Nigeria are innundated with married women seeking to be disentangled from their absent husbands who abandoned them for other wives and women. Any Yoruba person denying this rampant polygamous and concubine keeping and breeding tendency of Yoruba men is telling a lie. |

Siena: My sister Osisi, GM, like other major players in the automotive industry, hold the patents for the mechanical parts of their vehicles, as I posted previously. The only common parts manufacturers share are tyres, ECU components less the maps and parameters, paint and leather. The rest are made on their behalf, based on their engineers' blueprints.
Those that put the engines, transmissions, steering racks, suspension etc together could NOT supply these to other auto manufacturer's. Imagine the manufacturer's of a Mercedes Benz engine block supplying their engines to Nissan - Mercedes would sue them! Other car brands can only have an engine from another car, fitted to their production model if the owner of the patent gives the go-ahead.
I've been on the IVM website, and read all the stuff there - no way would Nigeria manufacture the engine blocks, cylinder heads, transmission etc, without proudly letting the world know. I would like it to be our indigenous product, believe me, but I'm a realist, and also know we don't currently have the necessary tooling to cast cylinder blocks and transmission cases on even a small scale.
Sorry! don't be sorry for me I'm not hurting in anyway since you sound so sure and would want everything made in Nigeria or specifically made for Innoson You can start an indegenious car company with your own parts and be the first aren't you a Nigerian? meanwhile how's your madam you don gi am belle you warri boys no dey waste time |
