shymexx: Well I guess the late Maj. Dimka was a South African/UNITA secret agent, abi? Though I fully agree that the Cubans played a huge role military wise, do you think they were the only active supporters of the MPLA? Do you really think Nigeria's involvement ended with the death of Gen. Murtala during the coup? Seriously, READ MORE about your country's past foreign policy, PARTICULARLY its involvement in the Angolan civil war. Go on. |

coogar: Coogar, I'm telling you what I know - the UK don't have that capability... The highest they would do is use another African country and claim the glory, like they did in Sierra Leone... Nigerian army captured Freetown - however, it's still all over the news in the UK that the UK did it... For example: without the yanks taking the lead role in Libya, the UK would NEVER have attacked Libya... What do we have? - RAF Panavia Tornado, Eurofighter Typhoon, SAS and SBS, and Trident... Take Trident out, the UK military isn't as powerful as it used to be... We all know how the Iranians captured the British Navy and SBS forces a couple of years ago - that was disgraceful for a country as loud-mouthed as the UK... 2 Likes |

Zimbabwe set to become one of the fastest growing economies 2012-06-10 ZIMBABWE is set to become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world within the next decade on the back of the country’s vast mineral resources, a recent study by the Harvard University has revealed. According to the study, which forecasts the economic growth prospects of 128 countries and is titled the Atlas of Economic Complexity: Mapping Paths to Prosperity, the country’s economy will become the sixth fastest-growing in the world despite the effects of the illegal sanctions imposed on it by the United States of America and its Western allies. The research’s authors, who are drawn from the university’s Kennedy Centre for International Development, claim that they are 10 times more accurate in predicting economic growth over a decade than the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index. “China (1), India (2) and Thailand (3) top the rankings for per capita growth potential followed by Belarus (4), Moldova (5), Zimbabwe (6), Ukraine (7), Bosnia and Herzegovina 8, Panama (9), and Mexico (10). “For these countries, the current level of productive knowledge is unusually high for their level of income which should allow them to catch up faster than other nations. Mr Kadzura added that apart from having one of the fastest-growing economies, Zimbabwe is making giant strides towards being economically independent. “If we have managed to resist the Western embargo for more than a decade, there is no reason to doubt that we are poised for remarkable growth,” he said. In a recent interview, Comesa’s chief economic advisor Dr Moses Tekere noted that Zimbabwe’s economy will grow as the country boasts of both human and natural resources which are key to industrialisation and economic growth.“What we need to do is to boost inter-Africa trade and to add value to our products and make them competitive,” he said. Commenting on the research on the sidelines of a Sapes policy dialogue meeting in Harare last week, Finance Minister Tendai Biti conceded that it was possible for the economy to be rated among the fastest-growing economies in the world in light of its mineral resources.“Yes, it is possible. There is nothing that can stop us because we have got everything we need as a country. We only need to do the right thing at the right time,” he said. Horus: No sir, you do your own research again. Angola may have recovered quickly from its long disastrous civil. And there's absolutely no doubt that the nation is blessed with a lot of natural resources. But do NOT put that nation in the same league with Africa's 2nd largest economy and one ranked just after the BRICS nation. |

ocelot2006: Murtala Muhammed was sounding overly too Pan-Africanist before he was killed - so, I guess that played a role in his death... Read this: In 1975 Murtala Muhammad announced Nigeria's support for the Soviet-backed Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola, citing South Africa's armed intervention on the side of the rival National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola). The realignment strained relations with the United States, which argued for the withdrawal of Cuban troops and Soviet advisers from Angola. In October the Nigerian Air Force took delivery of Soviet-built aircraft that had been ordered under Gowon. 2 Likes |

ocelot2006: Do you want me to post links from top UK military generals to back up my assertions?? Every UK academic knows the UK isn't as strong as it used to be - Trident is the only thing keeping the UK on the UN security council seat... Every time Russia sneezes, the UK scampers for cover behind the yanks.... Do you know the UK has backed out of confrontation with Iran?? 1 Like |

funkybaby: Maybe, you need to travel outside Nigeria and see things for yourself... Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe have always been better than most African countries... Botswana is arguably one of the best countries in Africa - and Swaziland, Benin, and Rwanda are better than Nigeria... Read more and educate your Nigerian mind! 1 Like |

shymexx: you dunno what you are talking about, i am afraid! i was lucky to do my internship @ MoD several years ago in their DESG....i could only wow when i saw some things i cannot even mention here......the whole african army would get "ate up" if there should be an all-out war! the iranian drama was a naval unit crossing their boundary and getting caught - how many times have american marines been caught in black-ops all over the world and the yanks denied them or did a trade with prisoners, etc - is that how you want to judge the strength of one's army? you gotta be kidding me..... |

shymexx: Son, READ YOUR OWN DARN POSTS!! Didn't you mention that the British military (I.e British Army+Royal Airforce+Royal Navy+Royal Marine Commandos) can't take on the Zimbabwean military? Isn't that what you just posted multiple times? Simple logic: if military A can't defeat military B, is A in the same league as B? 'cos that's what your posts about the British have been about. |

coogar: Seeing things and using them in a conventional war are two different things... The yanks and Russians have things the UK would only dream about, however, when it comes to conventional war, it's a different ball game - the training, total number of forces, and discipline matters a lot... The UK has only 70,000 combatant troops left and we don't have the capabilities for intervention against any well trained and well equipped armies anymore... If you remember Basra in Iraq and how the British forces kept getting their ar.ses handed to them, before the yanks came to save them... If it were about the "things" you saw Taliban wouldn't be winning against the yanks - and the Soviets wouldn't have been well beaten by the Apartheid SA forces in Angola... The Afro-Cubans did what the Soviets couldn't do in Cuba... |

shymexx: I'm arguing as an outsider without sentiments - and I'll start posting proofs... you are chatting shyte..... the nigerian army is the strongest in africa - forget story! they went to sierra leone, liberia, etc and ate up the militia/rebels in those countries....what do you take the naija army for? zimbabwe? ethiopia? botswana? i would even wager the nigerian army is as strong as the us army(minus the modern warfare)! shymexx: you still confuse modern warfare with world war 1 - number of troops is irrelevant, this is modern warfare......the weapons do the job these days - you are arguing like romney counting the number of warships and horses - i doubt any country needs more than 20,000 troops to fight any war in these modern era - the war is in the air not on land! how would nigeria's 5 billion soldiers defend a trident-II D-5 ballistic missiles that can turn the whole of nigeria into ashes and dust?
now, there's a grey area in fighting such wars! because of the several ethics the imperialists try to preach - they leave themselves vulnerable to attacks. for instance - the british soldier would only shoot after being shot at! they would only shoot at soldiers or armed militia whereas the people they are fighting are dressed like civilians with arms under their burqa! how did america lose 27 marine boys in mogadishu? ordinary untrained somalians high on khat dropped 2 blackhawks - this is where the nigerian army would triumph! there's no ethics - they shoot at every enemy(man, woman or child) - shoot first, think later! 1 Like |

coogar: If combatants are not really needes in modern warfare, the yanks wouldn't be recruiting the way they're recruiting... There's only much weapons can do in total warfare, you still need a large and well disciplined force in a conventional warfare... If it were to be that easy, military analysts wouldn't say the US needs more 500,000 combatants to invade Iran... You can NEVER win a war from the air - ask the 5star generals around the world... And if you think the UK would still be there if it nukes Nigeria? - bwahahahahaha 2 Likes |

coogar: The countries I listed have well experienced armed forces - and they're all well equipped than the Nigerian armed forces... As country as big as Nigeria don't even have a normal SUBMARINE for crying out - when a 3rd world countries like Iran builds its own submarine... ALgeria has more than three submarines, SA builds its own fighter jets and attack helicopters(one of the best in the world) etc... The Zimbabwean army also has a parachute regiment - they'll smash Nigeria in a conventional war... 2 Likes |
