kams19:Lagos is what it is today because it served as both the colonial capital and that of Nigeria's capital. Ask yourself what does Lagos have |
BabaRamota1980:Lol. Now I am not Igbo again but Ab0ki now? I loll. What is the meaning of Yoruba first? |
BabaRamota1980 |
BabaRamota1980:Where were you when I called you guys oyoruba - the nickname Awusa/Fulanis used as mockery to describe your people after they sacked your capital. You that has forgotten your own ancestral name and goes about using the assigned Fulani Derogatory is who is demanding to know my tribe? Simple question for you before I indulge you my ancestry ; what is the real name of the oyoruba people? |
BabaRamota1980:Your people had already turned your refugee camp ibadan to its capital after the sack of Oyo Ile by marauding Fulani jihadist. You only began seeing Lagos after Lugard moved the capital from Calabar to Lagos in 1914 after the break out of WW1 to be far away from German Cameroun. |
wingmanII:Parliaments were already in existence in both the western and eastern regions since 1953. Western Nigeria already had an emmissary in London by then and parts of the powers vested in these two houses was drafting of the constitution and local administrations. It was Zik that imposed Enugu on Eastern Nigeria. A simple Google search on this matter will let you know that Enugu became capital of Eastern Nigeria by an act of parliament hitherto it was calabar. |
konoplyanka:If any tribe have rightly suffered in my hand here is the Yoruba. If there is any tribe I have defended serially here to the point I am labelled an Igbo it is the Igbo. Go through my posts and topics |
gidgiddy:The British only partitioned the south and it with Lagos colony doubling as capital of Western region and Calabar as the capital of Eastern region. It was until the inauguration of both western and eastern parliaments in 1953 that Ibadan was selected for Western region and Enugu for eastern region. Read my friend. Read |
[s] BabaRamota1980:[/s] Saraki is Nigeria's number 3 citizen and the face of the legislative branch. You think he is hoping on only the masses or courts? You must be a dreamer. And what do you think is responsible for the mass defections you are witnessing? If only you know the backing Saraki has with powerful external forces. Same forces that made your Buhari president are about to remove him. The people who are in the know are already re-alligning. Even Buhari knows his game is up. It is only the criminals in his cabinet that are desperate in not getting served the same dose of their vindictive govt that are running about telling Buhari that they will deliver elections for him. Do you hear Amaechi talking again? Tinubu and Oshiomole know they are going to jail when Saraki emerges president. Even northerners in Buhari's camp who stepped on Saraki's toes know they can negotiate a settlement with an Amir to beg saraki. Who will beg for Oshiomole and Tinubu? Guy, you are a spectator in a very complex game of 5-D chess. I suggest you sit down and learn a thing or two. |
buhariguy:The court can easily declare their removal an illegality. That means you failed in the democratic coup and then a legal coup. What next? Just give up, the more fixated you are in removing Saraki the more people begin to align with his woes and they will ask why is he being persecuted. Have you not failed enough? |
BabaRamota1980:Calabar was the first capital of Nigeria. How then can Lagos have developed before calabar? |
Wiseandtrue:I have been to Enugu and it has the same climate and weather patern as Kogi and Abuja. The place may have developed now but imagine how remote and harsh it would have been back in the 50's and 60's? Enugu city was also devoid of significant Igbo populations until the British began coal mining there. If the Igbos of old preferred to settle in Nnsuka or in Udi and not Enugu then there must be a reason. Even till this day, ground water is very hard to access due to coal, gas and lead deposit. Wells are seasonal and boreholes are not healthy for use because of risk of lead poisoning. Don't view Enugu of today but rather compare Enugu of the 50's and contrast with Calabar or PH then you will know why the other nationals in eastern Nigeria were baffled about Zik's choice as Enugu as capital. |
Donjazzy12:Can the Senate be in plenary without any of her principal officers? It is only under a plenary session presided by one or both of the principal officers that a motion of impeachment can be moved. Don't be an ignoramus. |
ba7man:This is not 1984 and most of us in the saner parts of Nigeria prefer democracy to dictatorship. Saraki is giving your Lords and masters headache not because he has guns or military behind him which he has not but rather what is keeping Buhari's goons and lynch mob like yourself at bay is the rule of law. Sanity will prevail over madness, good will thrive over evil. Saraki will thrive over your satanic communist APC. |
BabaRamota1980:Yes we know how democracy is anti Islam Pray tell, will you prefer an Islamic theocracy instead? |
I don't understand why some igbos are insulting me here over calling Zik a fool. If calabar had been the capital of old eastern region, would your brothers be going to Lagos to import cheap Chinese crap while getting insulted by the ingrate lazy yorubas? What then is the call for eastern ports when you still revere Lagos? It seems there is a Joe Igbokwe in every Igbo man. Look at Abuja and how igbos have cemented their destinies in the hands of jihadist blackmailers. You refuse to identify with your own homes and that closes to you but rather carry your foolishness like Zik to Lagos and zungeru. Why then won't the yorubas mock you and the Awusa threaten you at every opportunity. I keep saying that you igbos living in the north are the only ones giving these barbarians the opportunity to have the audacity to come to the negotiating table with their threat to repeat another pogrom. Can you not learn from your stupidity and that of zik? IPOB failed because you like the Hebrews in Egypt that refused to follow moses saw the little scraps you benefited in Egypt over your salvation. Biafra failed primarily because of your arrogance towards the ND and your own fair share of traitors as it us no secret that many igbos became rich after the war as a result of their treason towards biafra? If Biafrans can not help themselves then who can? I am a staunch supporter of biafra primarily because I believe every people deserve the right to self rule and that I am in principle against multiculturalism plus the most important fact that an Igbo nation will see to an emancipation of other oppressed minority people in this God forsaken Marxist contraption. Now, once again, Zik remains a fool. If you support Zik stupidity blindly then you are no different than the Yoruba bastards who still worship that criminal Awolowo. |
Oblang:Because that was their second desperate attempt at illegality. Their legal advicer Sagay has come out to defend a forger (Kemi). They will stop at nothing to push their evil agenda |
[s] BabaRamota1980:[/s] Democracy can not thrive without the rule of law. All you wrote up there shows how evil you APC supporters are. |
BabaRamota1980:Calabar is still the best city in Nigeria as it is. With a fraction of Lagos stolen wealth the city and state will outshine every corner in Nigeria. |
wingmanII:Zik was responsible for selecting Enugu as the new capital of Eastern Nigeria in 1954. Prior to which Calabar was the capital of administration. |
giles14:Zik remains a fool as there is no explanation for his foolish decision to move the capital from Calabar - a city with pre-existing infrastructure, heritage and a sea port - to a backward remote coal town in the middle of no where. To make matters worse he was more engrossed in Lagos politics and how to get closer to his Zungeru roots. The man was daft and berrefet of ideas. Ask yourself the honest truth, is Calabar not a hundred times better than any city in the East or entire ND till this day? |
FOLYKAZE:Exactly. All state speakers or their deputies were removed with connivance with either. Saraki and Ekeramadu's destiny are tied and as so both can not be compromised to see to each others impeachment. APC is obviously getting legal advice over this issue from a senile drunk called Sagay. |
Donjazzy12:For that to happen two of them must be present. Do you think that will happen without PDP and r-APC senators storming the Senate? Where will the minority APC senators then get the votes? |
vanbonattel:This is magic bishop. Read my post again. Even Nnamdi Kanu knew Zik was a fool |
Kingosytex:They can not impeach saraki outside the Senate floor and the sitting can only be duly recognised with Ekeramadu present. Why do you think Ekeramadu was asked to remain at home to be arrested by the police when both the SP and DSP's homes were besieged? Saraki was very smart by going to the Senate without Ekeramadu as he can not preside over his own impeachment but must step down for his deputy. When the APC senators noticed Ekeramadu's absence their plot collapsed. The original plan was to arrest Saraki and force Ekeramadu to the Senate to oversee Saraki's impeachment under threat and blackmail of arrest. Or have you forgotten why the EFCC finally let him go when they heard Saraki was presiding over the Senate? Guy, Saraki is playing all of these idiots in APC chess while blindfolded. |
bennymark:Listen, the Niger Deltans still hold reservations about you igbos because of what Zik did. They are the only people that can accommodate you in today's Nigeria. If you can not accept the mistakes of your leaders in the past then how are you different from the average Yoruba man who defends that evil man Awolowo or the Awusa Fulani Muslim who still supports Sarduna and his protégé Buhari in their Islamofascist quest of domination. The ND told you they were no pushover and the reason Biafra failed is because they did not support you. |
giles14:Guy, I am pro Biafran and a staunch supporter of Igbos here to the point I have been categorised as Igbo. Let us be honest, Azikiwe and Ojukwu did not help their cause by being paternalistic and condescending towards the other nationals in the old eastern region. |
Prof Itse Sagay has proved with his recent rants that he is either a drunk or a senile old fool or both to assume that a quorum can be held on the floor of the red chambers without any of the principal executive officers of the Senate presiding over the house. Before a Senate sitting can be legal, the Senate President or his deputy most preside over the house. All impeached legislative principal officers were removed because either the deputy or the speaker was present. The APC will need Ekeramadu to preside over their quorum in order to remove Saraki and vice-versa. Even if they can smuggle Ekeramadu into the house against his will, they will still need Ekeramadu to allow the motion of Saraki's impeachment to go on. The proceedings can not be done in secrecy or behind a closed session so how will they react if Ekeramadu opposes their motion? At best Ekeramadu can postpone the motion for another day to allow the Senate president to be present for his own impeachment. Will Saraki also be kidnapped to attend his own impeachment? As I said earlier, impeachment process can not be done behind closed doors and will require an open session with journalist beaming proceedings live. How then will the APC be able to achieve this without exposing themselves as anti-democratic? |
MartinCorridon:I can tell you that whoever can rally Igalas against the incumbent governor and his presidential backing will win. See Wada for refrence. In Ondo, the majority voted against GEJ because of Mimimko. Amosun won because nobody wanted Obasanjo or GEJ's preferred candidates. It's only in Lagos that local elections and national are not in tandem except for the 2015 poll. The Igalas have the numerical and political strength in Kogi. All the PDP have to do to clench Kogi for both the presidential and governorship elections is to field an Igala for governor with an Okun deputy. |
Balet:This is Kogi central. Where Ebiras dominate. Kogi West and East is where the votes are for PDP. No way an Igala or Okun man will support Bello. They will not only vote against him but punish Buhari for supporting him. Just wait and see. PDP will garner at least 60% of votes from Kogi in 2019. |
By 2019, their votes will drop to 3k tops If in doubt check the average cost of osun voters prior to Chanji and during Chanji. Ashewoe is always cheaper the second time around. |
That singular act mitigated against the old Eastern region's developmental strides and also caused great suspicion among non-Igboid peoples towards Igbo domineering stance. Enugu as capital will later come to haunt the Biafran cause. Calabar as capital would have not seen to Western cameroon wanting to seccede. That singular act would have not serve as inspiration for the Ijaws fighting to leave eastern Nigerian. What was exactly Azikiwe"s motive in making a remote and inhospitable coal town as capital beats my imagination. Azikiwe was more interested in Lagos politics and economy and suffered huge myopia in not seeing the great potential cities like Calabar or even Port-Harcourt would have had as capital of eastern Nigeria which if he had foresight would have rivaled Lagos by now. Even up till this day, Enugu remains a harsh place to reside and do business for the simple sake of climate, vegetation and access to water. Enugu's limited growth today is because it is a mecca to all igbos because back when it was a coal city there were hardly any Igbo settlements there so for this said reason Igbos from across the SE can easily settle there without fear of being rejected as not being from there. The major property holders and business interests in Enugu are not limited to Igbos from Enugu but from Anambra and Abia. I have always believed Zik chose the economically and politically impractical Enugu so that he can be closer to his beloved Zungeru. Lagos was Zik's base and as a non business oriented person he never saw the potential of other coastal cities in the East because he had no singular clue and this was also compounded by his fanatical obsession over national harmony. Cross River and Calabar remain the most viable state and capital respectively till this day and with a serious minded governor, the state can easily overtake Lagos within the next 10yrs even under crushing opposition from ethno religious obstacles put in place by Abuja. So if Zik could not see the potential of repositioning the eastern region back in the days, I wonder how that fool would have had a clue in the messed up political situation we find ourselves today with an overbearing Federal govt. This same Zik supported the Sarduna's plan to balkanize the old western region by supporting the creation of the defunct mid-western region. Little did he also know that the same Sarduna was plotting with Awolowo to carve the Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers regions from the old eastern region. Why the same stupid Zik did not support Awolowo in carving out a middle belt region out of the north beats me till this day. FYI, the mantra "one north" coined and reiterated by Ahmadu Bello was a rallying call to resist Northern balkanization. It is even safe to state that Awolowo and Sarduna were behind the plebiscite that saw western Cameron leave Nigeria and the subsequent Ijaw uprising for independence. Azikiwe to me is a fool. If he had not been a typified Joe Igbokwe (Lagos lover) and an Nzeagwu (North lover), there won't have been so much animosity and suspicion of the Igbos by the other nationals of the old eastern region. |
