The story is true I read it on daily trust and it even included a picture of the couples. really strange no injury just the two of them lying dead in a car |
Why European women are turning to Islam By Peter Ford, Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor / December 27, 2005 PARIS Mary Fallot looks as unlike a terrorist suspect as one could possibly imagine: a petite and demure white Frenchwoman chatting with friends on a cell-phone, indistinguishable from any other young woman in the café where she sits sipping coffee. And that is exactly why European antiterrorist authorities have their eyes on thousands like her across the continent. Ms. Fallot is a recent convert to Islam. In the eyes of the police, that makes her potentially dangerous. The death of Muriel Degauque, a Belgian convert who blew herself up in a suicide attack on US troops in Iraq last month, has drawn fresh attention to the rising number of Islamic converts in Europe, most of them women. "The phenomenon is booming, and it worries us," the head of the French domestic intelligence agency, Pascal Mailhos, told the Paris-based newspaper Le Monde in a recent interview. "But we must absolutely avoid lumping everyone together." The difficulty, security experts explain, is that while the police may be alert to possible threats from young men of Middle Eastern origin, they are more relaxed about white European women. Terrorists can use converts who "have added operational benefits in very tight security situations" where they might not attract attention, says Magnus Ranstorp, a terrorism expert at the Swedish National Defense College in Stockholm. Ms. Fallot, who converted to Islam three years ago after asking herself spiritual questions to which she found no answers in her childhood Catholicism, says she finds the suspicion her new religion attracts "wounding." "For me," she adds, "Islam is a message of love, of tolerance and peace." It is a message that appeals to more and more Europeans as curiosity about Islam has grown since 9/11, say both Muslim and non-Muslim researchers. Although there are no precise figures, observers who monitor Europe's Muslim population estimate that several thousand men and women convert each year. Only a fraction of converts are attracted to radical strands of Islam, they point out, and even fewer are drawn into violence. A handful have been convicted of terrorist offenses, such as Richard Reid, the "shoe bomber" and American John Walker Lindh, who was captured in Afghanistan. Admittedly patchy research suggests that more women than men convert, experts say, but that - contrary to popular perception - only a minority do so in order to marry Muslim men. "That used to be the most common way, but recently more [women] are coming out of conviction," says Haifa Jawad, who teaches at Birmingham University in Britain. Though non-Muslim men must convert in order to marry a Muslim woman, she points out, the opposite is not true. Fallot laughs when she is asked whether her love life had anything to do with her decision. "When I told my colleagues at work that I had converted, their first reaction was to ask whether I had a Muslim boyfriend," she recalls. "They couldn't believe I had done it of my own free will." * Imo state governor Rochas refused to accept a young ASP from Imo state as his ADC. Instead he picked a northerner Idoma man for the job. * The current ADC to Anambra State governor is from Kano State. * Orji Kalu ADC for 8 years was DSP Haliiru Aliyu from Kastina state. * Ebonyi state ADC is from Taraba state. * Akwa Ibom state ADC is a Hausa man from Bauchi state. * Edo current governor drove his ADC one DSP Oyis a native of Edo for a northerner from KOGI * The new governor of Bayelsa started with a Hausa man DSP Abdulkarim before pressure made him opted for a SS Imo, Rivers and other state government house in the SS /SE are guarded by only MOPOL Squadron from the north. Even at that, private residential quarters and private own companies also prefer northern MOPOL or army to guard them. In a post in nairaland someone described the SS / SE as a jungle of mistrust. I paused to ask my self why do SS and SE entrust there security to a tribe they despise so much? is it because they don't trust each other? |
This man is indeed clueless. |
This has been the rash in recent months. Anytime an issue emerges, the President rather than rely on constitutional structures to achieve results will rush to mushroom committees and the reports of these committees have also been piling with the government showing no interest in implementing their recommendations. That the President has chosen to rely on extra constitutional bodies is an indication of lack of confidence in the civil servants yet no one in the civil service has had to pay for their inability to produce results if that is the reason the President does not have confidence in the civil servants. This leaves us with a reasonable suspicion that these committees are not set up to achieve anything after all; they are only conduits to siphon money into the pockets of those the administration wants to settle. When the President arrived the African Union meeting in Addis Ababa last month with thirty aides and his wife with forty two aides and the media reported the news, his information managers cried wolf accusing the media of mischief. But our thinking has been that a few weeks after the President promised in a national broadcast to curb waste in government, sincere efforts where going to be put in to achieve that aim but from all indications, there is no sign that this President can prevent Nigeria from her procession to Golgotha. God bless our country! Agba Jalingo. Journalist/Activist Managing Partner, GiantConcept Media consult 3 Ifesowapo St., Ogudu Orioke, Lagos. |
Take a look at some of the committees; Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC) headed by Gen. T.Y. Danjuma Rtd., Presidential Committee on Expenditure Review headed by Prof. Anya O. Anya, Presidential Projects Assessment Committee headed by Alh. Ibrahim Bunu, Presidential Taskforce on Power headed by Prof. Barth Nnaji who doubles as the power minister, Presidential Committee on Security Challenges headed by Alh. Usman Galtimari, Presidential Committee for Review of reports on ethno-religious crises in Plateau State headed by Chief Solomon Lar, Presidential Committee on Post Election Violence headed by the former Grand Khadi of Niger State, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu. Others are Presidential Committee on Review of Outstanding Constitutional Issues headed by Justice Alfa Belgore rtd, Presidential Committee on NDDC headed by Chief Isaac Jemide, Presidential Taskforce for Passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) headed by Senator Udo Udoma, Presidential Special Committee on the reorganization of the Police headed by Parry Osayande, Presidential Committee to negotiate with Labour on Fuel Subsidy headed by Justice Alfa Belgore rtd, again, Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force headed by Nuhu Ribadu, National Refineries Special Task Force headed by former Finance Minister Kalu Idika Kalu. |
Senator Ben Obi, Special Adviser to the President on Inter-Party Affairs. There is absolutely no reason to appoint a special adviser for just this function, when there is Ahmed Gulak, Political Adviser to the President just as the designation of Dr Mariam Ali, Special Adviser to the President on Inter- governmental Affairs. Perhaps the most curious is the Special Adviser (New Media), Reno Omokri. In clear terms, he is special adviser on Twitter and Facebook matters! This is aside the fact that there is a Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Strangely, the ‘Twitter and Facebook Special Adviser’ is not attached to the office of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity but to the Special Adviser, Research and Strategy. By the way, these special advisers would ordinarily have their own personal assistants and their personal assistants will have their own P.A.s and so on and so forth. Beyond these bizarre appointments also is the waste of money in servicing committees and task forces which are fast becoming mere “job for the boys”. The Jonathan government continues to diminish the place of the federal civil service and associated executive organs in the functioning of government but continues to mushroom a legion of committees, task forces and panels to assume sundry responsibilities at the centre. These mounting layers of bureaucracy and its cost implication are a major source of concern just as the non-implementation of committee reports submitted in recent times and it calls to question the commitment and sincerity of the “Jona-our-Son” government. |
Mrs. Sarah Akuben Pane, Special Adviser to the President on Social Development. One is too stumped to even comment on this. Mrs. Sarah Jibril, Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values. What a joke! Who even monitors what, if any, work some of these appointees have been carrying out? Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs. What would the minister and the minister of state for the Niger Delta ministry be doing and what about the head of the Niger Delta Development Commission? Prof. Dan Adebiyi, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Senator Isaiah Ballat, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties (Office of the Vice-President). Could someone please unpack this designation for us? Same request suffices for Nze Sullivan Akachukwu Nwakpo, Special Adviser to the President on Technical Matters and for Mrs. Asma’u Abdulkadir, Special Adviser to the President on Gender Issues. What on earth amounts to ‘Technical Matters’? And there are also Yakubu Abdullahi, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters (Office of the Vice President); Mr. Bashir Sufyan, Special Adviser to the President on Legal Matters (Office of the Vice- President). Professor Nwanze Okidegbe, Economic Adviser to the President. What economic advice would this officer give the President that the National Economic Management Team members including the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Planning cannot? |
GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, GCFR President Goodluck Jonathan in June 2011 sought and obtained the approval of the Senate to appoint 20 advisers to assist him in running his government. However, the President has, in apparent breach of the number of aides approved for him, gone ahead to appoint at least 24 advisers as at the last count. Beyond exceeding the number, the designations of the appointees also raise serious questions as to the necessity of the appointments. Let’s consider a few. Dr. Tunji Olagunju, Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD and Dr. Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Special Adviser to the President on International Relations. Apparently, these two offices could have been handled by a single person. Besides, why do we have to appoint a special adviser to the President on these when there is a Ministry of Foreign Affairs with more than one minister, permanent secretary, directors and possibly a department in charge of NEPAD? Mr. Oronto Douglas, Special Adviser to the President on Research and Strategy. Sentiments aside, what exactly is the role of this office and couldn’t it have been carried out by a permanent employee in the Presidency? Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Special Adviser to the President on Energy. Really? What distinctive ‘special advice’ is the President expecting from the incumbent here that the ministers for petroleum, energy and power cannot give? |

This is however not the first time Christians has been implicated in attack on Churches and Christians. It will be recalled that a Christian, Wisdom Kings, dressed in Muslim attire, was arrested attempting to set fire to a church in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Also, in Adamawa Yola, weeks ago, three people were killed in a Church and Muslims were accused as usual. But Police investigations point to a family feud between a Christian family. Last year a Christian woman went to her own parish church in Bauchi and tried to set it ablaze. In Plateau State, a man purported to be a Christian was arrested while trying to bomb a church. Armed men gunned down a group of Christians meeting in a Church and now it turned out that those who have been arrested and are under interrogation are in fact not Muslims and that the story is more of an internal crisis. As usual and as expected, the media is playing down the Bauchi incident because it does not fit into their propaganda against Muslims and the religion of Islam. “Christians cannot be terrorist, terrorism is a Muslim thing” while all facts points to the opposite. Vanguard and other mainstream media in the country are reporting the incident as a rivalry between church members. Since when did Church members start using explosives to settle dispute? Can we be right to assume that Mandala Christmas day bombing and other attack on Churches, including that in Jos, were also done by rivalry within the Christian community? For more on Nigeria Media Bias see: The Sun Phenomenal Bias in Reporting the Jos Crisis and Boko Haram, the Media and the Threatened Imminent Genocide of Niger Delta Muslims by Christian Terrorists As the ‘nigeria wonder’ continues, Vanguard reports that Boko Haram has already claimed responsibility of the Jos bombings. Boko Haram allege spokesman, Abul Qaqa, who is in SSS custody claimed responsibility on behalf of the group: “We carried out the attack on COCIN church in Jos today and we did what we did as part of our resolve to avenge the killings and dehumanisation of Muslims in Jos in the last 10 years.” How did Abul Qaqa verify that truly it was his group that was responsible? I am sure that if the Christian bombers had succeeded in Bauchi, he would have claimed responsibility for that also. Is it not obvious that Boko Haram leadership has no means of verifying the acts of all its members. Boko Haram may in fact not be responsible for some of the attacks that they claim responsibility to. |
Muslim terrorists + Christian terrorists + Bank robbers + Contract Killers + Market Thieves = Boko Haram |
This is not Nigeria police, from the badge the looks more of a Kenya police officer. |
True facts but with lots of exaggeration |
Why is this not in the front page. |
By SaharaReporters, New York Nine bombers, believed to be christians, were apprehended this morning when they attempted to bomb a COCIN church at Miya Barkate, 20 kilometres along Jos-Bauchi Highway in Bauchi State. The suspected bombers are Lamba Goma, Filibus Danasa, Joshua Ali, Danjuma Sabo, Joseph Audu, Simon Gabriel, Bulus Haruna, Yohanna Ishaya and Daniel Ayuba (who was the immediate past Secretary of PDP at Tilden Fulani Ward, Toro LGA, Bauchi State). The suspects are members of the same COCIN church, Unguwar Rimi, a new and small Christian settlement between Tilden Fulani and Shere Hills. The suspects who were thoroughly beaten by the public were rescued by police and then detained at the Toro Divisional Police Division before they were transferred to Bauchi State Police Command, Bauchi. At about the same time this morning in the Neighbouring Plateau State, a bomb explosion was reported at the headquarters of the same COCIN church during a Sunday service. The number of casualties are not certain. The pastor of the targeted COCIN Church in Bauchi is Ishaya Izam, who recently arrived on posting from the Cocin headquarters in Jos, which was bombed this morning. It is not clear if the two bombings are related. A statement on the event in Bauchi state is yet to be issued by the Police. Spokesperson of the Bauchi State command of the police, Hassan Mohammed, confirmed the incident but said he would only provide details later. "The suspects are in the police headquarters but we give full details after investigators have ascertained the full situationcould not be reached for comments," Mr. Mohammed said. |
