PoliticsAre Boko Haram Shifting Base From Nigeria - Niger Republic by 13volts(op): 8:09am On Jun 02, 2013
Last time it was a military base attack now a prison in central Niamey. And we all know that most Boko Haram are from Niger Republic.

Gunmen yesterday invaded the central prison in Niger Republic, raising fears that such insurgency could spread to other countries in the West Africa and Sahel regions.

The gunmen opened fire on the guards and killed at least two people, according to a government spokesman and a witness who was close to the prison when the incident occurred.

Although it could not be immediately established whether the assailants came from inside or outside the jail, serving and retired military officers who spoke on the development yesterday said such insurgency might be experienced or escalate in the West Africa sub-region.

Major Yahaya Shinko (rtd) told LEADERSHIP SUNDAY yesterday that the prison attack might be connected with the role the government of Niger played in the Mali military intervention, which led to the sacking of the Islamist regime in that country.

He said insurgence groups were interconnected, which makes their targets and activities take the same pattern.

Shinko said, “Remember that Niger provided the United States its airspace for a drone operation in northern Mali. More of such attacks may likely take place in countries such as Chad Republic, which has played a key role in the dismantling of the Islamists in Mali.”

A former lecturer at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Dr Umar Ardo, believed that the current military operations in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states might be responsible for the Niger prison attack.

“The insurgents are inter-linked across Africa. The military operation in the north-east is a spill-over in Niger because of its proximity to Nigeria,” Ardo said.

Ardo agreed that more of such attacks are likely to occur in the Sahel and West African countries: “History has shown that the northern parts of Senegal, Burkina Faso, Togo and Cameroun are largely Muslim communities while the southern parts are largely Christians except southern Nigeria with a large Muslim community.

“This insurgency is due to bad governance and injustice. From Senegal to Bargani, a border town between Nigeria and Chad, is termed belt of conflict as history has indicated that, almost a century ago, founder of Mali Empire Sundiata Keita killed many scholars whom he perceived as against his leadership style; so the possibility of the escalation of the current attack may linger,” he said.

In the Niger attack, two security guards were killed and a third was gravely wounded, said Niger government spokesman Marou Amadou. He said the attackers had been captured and the incident was being investigated.

“There are two versions of what happened and right now we think it’s more likely that they came from inside the jail,” Amadou said by telephone. “These are people who are wanted for terrorism. We do not know how they were able to arm themselves inside the prison, and how they were able to get out to attack the guards. We have two dead guards already and one seriously wounded.”

Souleymane Magagi, whose house sits about 350 metres from the gates of the prison, said neighbours came running to tell him about the attack at 3:30pm When he approached the prison, he saw the bus normally used to carry prison workers parked with its doors open, near the entrance to the jail. What looked like two bodies were being loaded into the bus, though he said he was afraid of coming any closer than around 200 metres and could not be sure if the bodies were of the dead guards, or if they were people wounded in the incident.

Magagi, who is the secretary-general of the country’s union for mine and petroleum workers, said he believed the attackers came from outside the country.

“There is a specific hour at mealtime when relatives of the prisoners are allowed inside the prison with baskets of food for their relatives. They took advantage and entered at this moment,” he said, adding that he had spoken to relatives that were already in the prison complex waiting to bring food to their family members when the shooting erupted. He believed the attackers were trying to free fighters from the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram based in Nigeria, Niger’s larger neighbour to the south.

“Armed men came and attacked the central prison,” said Magagi. “They shot at the guards and were able to penetrate the prison, probably to liberate their colleagues. They are likely elements of MUJAO and Boko Haram.”

However, the government spokesman said that it is too early to say which group carried out the attack, describing them simply as “people with links to terrorism”.

The section many people claim promises this virgins is an HAdith quoted below.

"Muhammad was heard say: "The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy two wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from [Damascus] to San'a"

This hadith is rated by Islamic Scholars as being weak and having a disputed narration, hence such Information are not taking seriously. What is a Hadith? The Hadith is the record of the sayings & conduct of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Since the Hadith is not an holy like the Quran, because it was written and complied by humans. The scholars of the Hadith literature divided it into categories according to the degree of authenticity and reliability. The rule is that a Muslim does not believe in or work with a weak narration.

Mind you going back to the verse again, it is said it is for a believer nowhere it is said a Jihaadist or sucide bomber. So even if we take this weak hadits as a base, no where did it says sucide bombers, it said such reward are for all believers
PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Regroups In The Mountains Of Adamawa by 13volts(m): 6:17pm On May 21, 2013
Once again, Islam does not promise 72 virgins, or any forms of reward whatsoever for anyone who commits suicide. It is a totally absurd lie. The virgin myth has understandably received more than its fair share of publicity due to its hilarity and "romance" At the very least, it makes for a particularly gratifying affirmation for those who would love to see Islam go down the gutters. Besides, the harsh punishment that Islam bestows upon its followers who commit murder and suicide has been spelt out very clearly in the Quran:

Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily God hath been to you Most Merciful! If any do that in rancor and injustice, soon shall We cast them into the Fire: And easy it is for God. Chapter 4 Verse 29 - 30

Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him." (Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 445)

Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak:"And if somebody commits suicide with anything in this world, he will be tortured with that very thing on the Day of Resurrection. (Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 73)

The condemnation Islam has towards suicide is so grave that it would be unthinkable for its followers to regard sex or VIRGINS as a reward if they were to take their lives.

ckkris: Just yesterday 13Volts posted that there was an anti-Jonathan riot in Maitama district, Abuja. It turned out to be a lie, as there was no riot of any kind at Maitama. Now, why should anyone believe this report about Daura, posted by this very mischievous 13Volts?
My post on the riot in Abuja was not a lie, we had anti GEJ demonstration in Abuja led by Dino. I might have used the wrong headline, but remember I was the first person that broke the news on Nassarawa police killing and all what I wrote turn out to be true.

My updates on Daura attack is 100% facts, they are not on any media or news blog but just wait some couple of hours and the feedback will be coming. Besides, I still have some couple updates to post, but am waiting for more clarification from my other sources.

Similarly, local villagers have join in the manhunt of the feeling suspects after they the locals arrested 3 of the gunmen that abandoned their rifles in order to mingle among them.

We are yet to understand how these apparently spontaneous riots and civil disobedience broke out, but might be related to the state of insecurity and corruption inn the nation which recently culminated in a declaration of a state kd emergency in the northern states. Offices are being closed

PoliticsRe: Northern Youths Reject State Of Emergency by 13volts(m): 11:01pm On May 14, 2013
The military has enjoyed full access and support of the governments in the affected states. The military also enjoyed the full privileges of using force – many times excessive – on any citizen they without hindrance from the state governments in the past two years.

So what exactly has hindered the military so much that they needed to compel Mr. President to give them a state of emergency to operate under? I am at loss here – completely. What has the state of emergency achieved when it was declared under this regime in some local governments including those now under Boko Haram occupation?

I need to be convinced how declaration of the state of emergency could make Boko Haram an exception.

Its not on the news yet but I can authoritatively confirm that the AC OPERATIONS, AC CID & OC SARS and a doven of policemen alongside some SSS Operatives are feared Death after their convey was ambush inside the jungle of Nassarawa Eggon area.

According to my source, the convey went into a village located deep inside Eggon tribe to effect arrest of a suspected arms dealer and a traditional witch doctor who are fueling the land dispute btw Eggon tribe & Mada tribe in Nassarawa state. However it was suspected that some one might have tip the Eggon people of the inpending raid, of which an ambush was laid resulting in the death of many.

PoliticsSheik Gumi Views On Disintegration Of Nigeria by 13volts(op): 5:06pm On May 07, 2013
Renowned and respected Kaduna .based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has again taken to facebook to discuss the viability or otherwise of Nigeria breaking up into North and South. Such discussions have reached a heightened state especially after it was made known that the legal instrument amalgamating Northern and Southern protectorates into one country provided for dissolution of the union after a 100 years which would be in the year 2014.

Below is the argument if Sheikh Gumi. You may also read it directly from his facebook page by clicking here.

Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi
SHOULD NIGERIA DIVIDE OR NOT?

Even though the chances that Nigeria will split or disintegrate into pieces as claimed by pessimists seem slim, the pertinent question still remains. Should the nation divide? Many are asking. Those that want the nation to break will surely be disappointed. The basic reason is that the nation is not so homogeneous enough to divide on tribal or religious divide, the main factor for such successions.

It is a fact that there are substantive insuppressible population of both Muslims and Christians in both the north and the south of the country. Another reason is that the oil money has brought sudden wealth to many citizens in the oil producing states which have enable them to acquire assets in Abuja and have economic interest and advantage in the hinterland. They will only be foolish to relinquish such assets for a depleting fossil fuel that may also be later discovered elsewhere in the nation.

With such chances slim. What the nation dearly needs now is a president that can stir and maneuver the nation out of the turbulent waters. A President that is acceptable both in the north and south. Also acceptable to both the Christians and Muslims. Vibrant, intelligent and focused on what is good for all. A President that has no criminal records, and is honest and incorruptible.

A President that has no dictatorial instincts or one that display ostentatiousness. A president that loves people and people oriented programs like free education, subsidized health and housing projects. A president that will bulldoze and tackle the electricity problem head on, and improve the road networks for efficient safe transportation. A president that will take the problem of sewage drainage, disposal, and environmental cleanliness his baby. A president that will build at least five ultramodern international airports, in Abuja, Kano, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Lagos.

A President that will modernize the armed forces and police, and make them truly reflect our diversity. A president that is not a member or supporter or an advocate of armed bandits or militants but one that will crush all rebellious group, neutralize all forms of militancy.

What is needed is a Nigerian president. A president for all Nigerians, not one representing any tribal, religious or economic interest. Not one representing militants or caucuses or foreign interests.

Such a president will bring peace and tranquility to the nation and the whole world by extension. In such an environment of serenity will Allah, The God of Creation be worshiped. Allah swears by the Covenants (of security and safeguard enjoyed) by the tribe of Quraish. The Covenants (that allows them to cover) trade journeys by winter and summer. Allah said: “Let them Adore the Lord of This house, Who Provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger). Q106/ 1-4

May Allah in His infinite mercy protect us from Hunger and insecurity. Ameen
