99% of Anambrians live outside their State because even nature is not on their side. Look at this ugly man lamenting on their condition. No wonder their girls are all over Owerri looking for where to sleep as erosion has destroyed 80% of the State.

http://dailyindependentnig.com/2013/02/anambra-state-and-the-menace-of-erosion/

That Anambra State is the most erosion devastated state in the country is evident; that it is prone to greater ecological disaster if no serious intervention is structured to combat the awful degradation is truer. Anambra State is adjudged to be the most erosion prone and erosion devastated landscape in the world. Although other states in the south-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria have some dose of the environmental ogre, none compares to the intimidating number and sizes of the erosion sites in Anambra State. The South-East is therefore obviously threatened by a physical environment that seems ever ready to slip into nothingness.

There are about one thousand erosion sites with varying degrees and dimensions in Anambra state. The Nanka erosion has ironically become famous and legendary in its devastating effects on the agricultural and other socio-economic lives of the people of the communities in the area notably: Nanka, Agulu, Oko and many other continguous towns who groan under the enormous and increasing danger of this phenomenon.

Over the years, more especially since the end of the Nigerian civil war about forty three years ago, erosion ogre has progressively been an albatross in Igbo land. Some geologists attribute this unsavoury development to war activities such as indiscriminate digging of trenches by soldiers, as well as detonation of explosives and bombs on Igbo land where the war actually raged.

Like other natural or ecological disasters such as earthquake, hurricane, typhoon and tornado in other parts of the world, erosion is causing horrendous and incalculable havoc in Igbo land. Various efforts made by indigenous people to checkmate the menace amount to naught in the face of the rampaging landslide. Governments in the South East have also been making efforts to containing it through practical measures and enlightenment campaigns on the indigenous population of erosion ravaged localities. Clarion calls have equally been made on the Federal Government of Nigeria, international agencies as well as foreign countries to save the zone from further degradation.

These Save-Our-Soul messages remained tepid, and could only elicit insignificant attention. This was the unfortunate scenario until recently, when the South-East Governors’ Forum, under the dogged and diplomatic leadership of Governor Peter Obi, prevailed on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on erosion menace in the South-East.

Onyegecha:

Are you serious? You mean you really believe this nonsense you copied from the government site. So so sad. For your information, all those achievements are still in the pipeline. You would have known the truth if you were in the state. I suggest you leave this discourse for those who are on ground ; who wear the shoes and know where it pinches.
For the records, none of those water schemes is functional, same goes for the companies mentioned. Most of the items on that list are false claims.

Can you imagine how blinded some of them have become. grin grin grin grin

The increasing menace of commercial sex trade in Owerri, the Imo State Capital has become a big source of worry to the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Imo women who are determined to take necessary action to nip it in the bud.

At separate fora both the governor and the women of Imo have not only regretted the ugly trend but also disclosed their plans to attack the menace once and for all, with a view to stopping it.

Speaking last Wednesday in Owerri Okorocha as a matter of fact ordered the immediate closure of strip clubs in the State Capital where women dance nude for a ransome.

Okorocha described the existence of such clubs in Imo as strange and devilish.

He said the operation of such clubs have debased Igbo culture and compounded the eroding morality of the youths.

He said his government would no more tolerate their destructive activities. Okorocha also warned that any club found admitting under-aged persons into their clubs or selling alcoholic drinks to them would be shut down.

The governor ordered the demolition of a house at Oru East LGA and a filling station at Mbaitoli LGA alleged to be owned by kidnappers, assuring that kidnapping will be a thing of the past in the state.

Governor Okorocha also warned cultists operating in the state that his government was ready to deal with them just like child traffickers who he observed were also on the increase.

Corroborating the governor, the Imo women in conjunction with the Bureau on Religious Affairs, Government House have condemned the operation of strip(nude) clubs in the state, saying it is debasing to womanhood.

The women lamented that the increasing spate of prostitution in the state is so dangerous that their daughters are now being negatively influenced and even conscripted to the act by non citizens of Imo.

On their action plan, the women Nigerian Horn gathered have put all machinery in motion to take to the streets this Friday.

They said they, would do all in their powers with the support of the Imo State government to ensure the permanent closure of all strip clubs in the state as a way of fighting the thriving business of prostitution in the state.

Nigerian Horn checks revealed that the business of commercial sex hawking in Owerri is far beyond what goes on in other neigbouring state capitals. This makes Owerri, favourite destination for men and women who troope into the state to enjoy the sex trade.

This thread was created just to expose the wicked and evil governance in Imo state. The below leakage was the major reason for the thread. It was created to ask questions until misguided elements and perverts as abagworo came to derail it into 'versus' issues.

"The Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission [RMFAC] earlier this month raised alarm on the debt burden of some states in the Federation. The National Assembly has also raised the same alarm.
The Imo State Government has severally said that she has no loans taken since the inception if this administration. But during the budget presentation, for the 2013 budget, it became clear that Imo State government is heavily indebted.
The budget reveals that twenty two (22) billion naira loan was obtained by this administration in 2011, and sixty one (61) billion naira obtained in 2012. The government further seeks the approval of eighty one (81) billion naira loan for the coming 2013. These figures do not include the forty five (45) Billion naira loan obtained from Zenith Bank using the Local Government Area Allocations, as collateral.
If the State House of Assembly approves the budget, with the requested 81 billion naira loan for 2013, Imo would have taken a total of 211 Billion Naira loan in 2years of Rescue Mission administration."

Nobody goes to owerre, it is a cursed land. It is the sodom of Nigeria. Everybody is running away from it because of filth, unemployment, poverty etc.

The last we checked there are over eight hundred thousand imolites living in Onitsha. But there is no single Anambran living in Imo state, what does that tell you?? Go and think about yourself and your people, you guys are doomed..

This is a common sight in Imo state..

But why are 99% of Anambra girls living there? About 1.5 million Anambra people live in Imo and Onitsha cannot be up to 800k.

Anambran to live in Imo state?? Am telling you that there is no Anambran living anywhere near the borders of Imo state talk more inside it. Onitsha today hosts over 800,000 imolites. If you doubt me go to Drug Mart, go to Awada, go to Fegge and see Imo populations. Population of Onitsha is over 3million., go figure. That is the last thing an Anambra will do.

You are a comedian. Where are the 3million people staying? Even Onitsha +Okpoko+Obosi+Nkpor is merely over 1million. Onitsha alone should be around 500k

Clown do you know that entire population of Anambra is about 7million, forget about the warped census figure. Anambra has the highest population in the SE and that tells you where people migrate most. Please don't derail this thread. Create a thread for that purpose..

Its true that Anambra has highest population in Southeast but Onitsha is too tiny to contain 3million people. Even Port Harcourt that is about 10 times its size contains less than 2million.

Onitsha urban area is same size as Owerri. I believe Owerri should be around 400k while Onitsha is around 500k but when you add the urban area around Onitsha then you'll get an excess of 1million. Owerri is bigger than Onitsha proper but is same size as Onitsha urban area which includes Okpoko, Nkpor and Obosi.
