PoliticsEl-rufai Declared Missing In Kaduna by 15Ebisco(op): 10:44pm On Apr 21, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state has declared the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, missing.

The party said El-Riufai was declared missing due to his alleged lack of adherence to law and order and dereliction of duty.

The party said the governor purportedly breached the law by being absent from his duty post as the state’s elected governor.

The governor has not been seen in public for over 10 days and there is no formal explanation from his aides about his whereabouts.

The PDP Chairman Kaduna State Chapter, Felix Hyat, in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Abraham Catoh, raised the concern over the governor’s absence.

“For more than 11 days running, governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State has disappeared from public glare, without transmitting power to his deputy,” the statement said.

It also condemned the APC’s style of leadership in the state “which is without recourse to Constitutional provisions”.

“We advise the APC- led Government to respect the tenets of our democracy so as to sustain the hard-earned democracy the PDP and other Nigerians fought to put in place for the betterment of a liberal society,” Hyat said.

Foreign AffairsTrump Excited As North Korea Suspends Nuclear, Missile Tests by 15Ebisco(op): 8:25am On Apr 21, 2018
U.S. President Donald Trump has shown excitement at the decision of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un to suspend all nuclear and missile tests.

Trump tweeted shortly after the announcement from Pyongyang that Kim has declared that he would suspend nuclear and missile tests starting from Saturday and that he would shut down the site where the previous six nuclear tests were conducted.

Trump tweeted: “North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site.

“This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit”.

North Korea’s KCNA reported that Kim said the regime no longer needs nuclear tests or intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

“Under the proven condition of complete nuclear weapons, we no longer need any nuclear tests, mid-range and intercontinental ballistic rocket tests, and that the nuclear test site in northern area has also completed its mission,” KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

The surprising announcement came just six days before Kim is set to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in, preparatory to a historic summit between Kim and Trump.

Trump is set to meet Kim at the end of May or beginning of June, however, a location has not yet been set.

Next Friday, Kim will cross the Military Demarcation Line that has divided the peninsula since the end of the Korean War in 1953, becoming the first North Korean leader to do so since then.

He would step into “Peace House” on the southern side of the line to meet Moon, with their encounter being broadcast live.

Moon signaled this week that everything was on the table at the meeting.

“North Korea is expressing its intention for complete denuclearisation and it is not making demands that the U.S. cannot accept, such as the withdrawal of the U.S. forces in Korea,” Moon said on Thursday.

The U.S. military has 28,000 troops stationed in South Korea, with back-ups in Japan and on Guam – the legacy of the standoff that has ensued since the Korean War ended in an armistice in 1953. (NAN)

PoliticsNigeria Faces Major Food Crisis Over Herdsmen Attacks – Soyinka by 15Ebisco(op): 7:47am On Apr 21, 2018
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka on Friday expressed grave concern over the continued displacement of the nation’s farming population in various parts of the country by rampaging violent herdsmen.

Soyinka warned that if nothing was done urgently to stem the tide of killings and sacking of farmers by herdsmen, the dark cloud of violence could plunge the country into a major food crisis.

The renowned playwright and author of Kongi harvest, who spoke in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during a conference session on African Drum Festival, said a period like the on – going drum festival, demands a moment of sober reflection on the onslaught by herdsmen against the primary producers of food in the country.

Soyinka who is the consultant for this year’s African Drum festival, however, added that the appalling situation should not be allowed to completely dampen the spirit of creativity.

He called for the immediate restoration of displaced farmers to their traditional base, as a first step towards ensuring that this country is good habitation for people .

In his address, Governor Ibikunle Amosun observed that the intellectual angle to the festival was an innovation powered by Soyinka thanking him for putting the event together.

PoliticsMan Attacks Keyamo In Awka For Accepting Buhari’s Appointment by 15Ebisco(op): 9:17pm On Apr 20, 2018
Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, was on Friday attacked at the premises of the Anambra State Federal High Court, Awka, for accepting President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment as spokesman of his campaign organisation for the 2019 presidential election.

Keyamo was attacked by an Anambra businessman, Bobby Uzochukwu, who expressed disappointment that Keyamo, a human rights lawyer could accept an appointment from a president known to have violated human rights serially.

He accused him of selling out by accepting to serve as the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections.

The SAN was recently appointed the Director, Strategic Communications for President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 presidential campaigns.

Keyamo who was the counsel for a defendant in the August 6 killings at St Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State was addressing the press at the court complex when the businessman verbally attacked him, calling him unprintable names.

The situation abruptly ended the press interview being granted by keyamo, causing the Senior Advocate to enter his car and leave.
But still fuming after Keyamo had left, Uzochukwu said he would have done worst things if the SAN had stayed back.

He said,” I know Keyamo. He’s my friend. I was surprised when I heard that he accepted to serve Buhari. This is betrayal of the highest order.

“We had thought Keyamo would replace the late Gani; but see what he has done, consenting to serve somebody who has no interest of the people at heart.

“I would have done more things on him this afternoon, but as you can see he ran away.”

He said that the arms were recovered from suspected militias, bandits, vigilance groups, Neighbourhood watch and other groups and individuals.

Janga said the arms include: 21 AK 47 Rifles, 14 Pump-action gun; eight Double Barrels; 69 Single barrel, 166 Dane guns, 134 locally made pistols, 40 Pistols; one G3 and four Barretta pistols.

In a related development, the Police Command in Kogi said it had arrested a suspected gun-runner, Inusa Abdullahi, 25 and Ibrahim Achimugu, a vigilance group member with firearm.

PoliticsNational Assembly Drops Bill Seeking To Reorder Election Sequence by 15Ebisco(op): 9:35pm On Apr 18, 2018
Both chambers of the National Assembly has stepped down the electoral amendment bill which seeks to reorder the sequence of elections.

The controversial electoral amendment bill was suspended at plenary on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.

Speaking on the bill, Senator Suleiman Nazif argued that the bill would not limit the discretion of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to perform their functions as provided by law.

"Elections to each house of the national assembly shall be held on a date to be appointed by INEC in accordance to the electoral act," Nazif said.

"This National Assembly provides in the case an act to the exercise of this discretion of INEC. It is the constitutional responsibility of the national assembly after due consultation with their President to determine the sequence that bests suits the yearnings and aspiration of majority of the electorates in Nigeria.

"Therefore having sampled the option of majority of Nigerian voters across the nation and those in diaspora, it has become clear that the proposed sequence will guarantee a free election. This is also important so as not to give a candid and undue advantage in any election to avoid any situation where a certain candidate who may ordinarily not win an election would rest on the floor of victory of the superior," he concluded.

At the House, Plateau lawmaker, Edward Pwajok, who sponsored the bill, said declared his intention to withdraw same at plenary.

The lawmaker noted that after consultations, he was advised to withdraw the bill.

In the upper chamber, Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan described the bill as unnecessary adding that it would increase the cost of conducting elections in the country.

"Let me right away state very clearly that I am total vehemently and comprehensively against this bill," he began. "I said before that I voted against the desire of the national assembly to determine the sequence of elections and when I said that, I also added that I am going to vote again against it and I am doing that today.

"Let’s be practical. In addition to unnecessarily incurring an avoidable cost in elections, the national assembly, the federal government, particularly the legislature here, this chamber and that one in the house should be able to be in place at any time to legislate for the good governance of this country.

"Therefore, when you leave them to come later, if something happens, where would Nigeria be? Without the National assembly and the President. I would believe that the right thing for us is not to legislate on the sequence but to support INEC to conduct very free, fair and transparent elections and also ensure that this national assembly is prudent when it comes to cost and expenditures rather than bringing additional cost.

"Let me expatiate on additional cost. We had 2 elections in 2015. The national or federal elections and the state elections for governorship and state assembly. Now we are introducing clause which we don’t need. Based on these facts, I want to advice we stick with what we practiced in 2015. We appropriate what INEC needs to ensure that this country does not go into any crisis," he added.

The lawmakers resolved that the bill be stepped down and referred to the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, with a mandate to remove the clauses faulted by President Muhammadu Buhari, for which he withdrew his assent.

Other parts of the bill not faulted by the president would be forwarded to him for assent.

Senator Omo-Agege was suspended for accusing the Senate of working against President Buhari over the electoral amendment bill.

Politics2019: Amaechi Confirmed As DG Of Buhari Campaign Organisation by 15Ebisco(op): 2:15pm On Apr 17, 2018
Earliest confirmation that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has indeed been appointed as the Director-General of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation for the 2019 presidential election has surfaced.
This confirmation came to the fore in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary of the campaign organisation, Mohammed Dattijo, which announced the appointment of Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN as the official spokesman of the Buhari Campaign Organisation.
Recall that there were reports as at January 2018 that Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers state, has been issued letter of appointment as the Director-General of Buhari’s 2019 election campaign.

Shortly after the news broke, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina dismissed the report as mere rumour, stating as at then that his principal has not decided on running for the election. But the President as at last week Monday before proceeding to London announced his decision to seek a second term in office.

While the appointment of Amaechi, who had served in the same capacity for the 2015 election, seems to have been done quietly, MC EBISCO can now authoritatively report that the serving minister is to head Buhari’s Campaign Organisation for the 2019 election.
This is on the strength of the letter announcing Keyamo’s new role which was signed by Amaechi as “The Director General” of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation.

Education2018 UTME: JAMB Speaks On Admission Cut-off Marks by 15Ebisco(op): 9:56am On Apr 16, 2018
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has spoken on the purported cut-off marks being circulated in some section of the media.

The board’s Head of Media and Information Department, Dr Fabian Benjamin debunked the report saying no cut-off mark whether for programmes or institutions had been released by JAMB.

Benjamin announced that cut off marks would be disclosed sometime in June after policy meeting.

He warned that any institution that begins admission process before the policy meeting would be acting illegally and that it would attract consequences.

In a statement, Benjamin said “we want to seize this medium to debunk such rumours as they are malicious and wicked as they are designed to defraud innocent Nigerians, especially parents and guardians as well as other stakeholders.

“No cut-off marks will ever be decided upon without the usual policy meeting which has been scheduled to hold sometime in June and which is to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.

“Until that is done, every other thing that is being paraded as cut-off mark is fictitious and therefore, the public is hereby warned not to fall prey to these fraudsters.

“In the same vein, any institution that has commenced any form of admission without the official cut-off mark as would be decided upon at the June policy meeting is doing so illegally.”

PoliticsThis Is What President Will Discuss With Trump At The White House by 15Ebisco(op): 8:32am On Apr 16, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari will visit the White House for a meeting with United States President Donald Trump, on April 30, 2018.

White House Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement announcing that Trump will welcome Buhari to the Oval office later in the month.

Sanders says Buhari and Trump will discuss economic reforms, fighting terrorism and ways to grow Nigeria's "role as a democratic leader in the region."

She adds that the United States has a "deep and strong" relationship with Nigeria.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders speaks during the daily briefing at the White House in Washington, Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

"President Trump looks forward to discussing ways to enhance our strategic partnership and advance our shared priorities: promoting economic growth and reforms, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, and building on Nigeria's role as a democratic leader in the region," the White House said in a statement.

"The relationship of the United States with Nigeria is deep and strong, and Nigeria's economic growth, security, and leadership in Africa will advance our mutual prosperity", Sanders said in her statement.
Luncheon

It isn’t the first meeting between the two leaders since Buhari was elected president in 2015.

In September of 2017, Trump and Buhari met at a luncheon in honour of select African heads of States on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Shithole

Trump came under intense criticism back in Nigeria in January of 2018 after it was reported that he referred to Nigeria and other third world countries as “Shithole”.

In December of 2017, the New York Times (NYT) reported that Trump said people live in huts back in Africa.

During a meeting at the Oval Office in June, Trump was quoted as saying immigrants from Haiti “all have AIDS”, Afghanistan was described as a ”haven of terrorists" and Nigerians living in the US were scoffed at by the US President for residing in huts back home.

“Forty thousand (migrants) had come from Nigeria, Mr. Trump added. Once they had seen the United States, they would never ‘go back to their huts’ in Africa,” the NYT piece read, quoting sources at the meeting.

Buhari is currently in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and a series of other meetings scheduled ahead of the CHOGM.

HealthWoman Didn't Know She Was Pregnant Until About Two Hours To Delivery by 15Ebisco(op): 8:15am On Apr 15, 2018
A 21-year-old woman from Newcastle has revealed how she had been pregnant for nine whole months, but had had no knowledge about it until just about some hours to delivery when she had some stomach cramps coupled with bleeding and decided to seek medical care.

Charlotte Thomson reportedly kept wearing her size 8 dresses and attending parties as usual. Even a day before her labour she had been to work and no sign of pregnancy was noticed by her parents let alone her coworkers.

When she got to the hospital and a midwife disclosed to her that she was due to give birth shortly, Charlotte was shocked to the marrow because she had not experienced any symptom of pregnancy.

Charlotte said: “My stomach was completely flat, and I’d been having regular periods so it was such a shock when I found out.

“I didn’t believe that I was actually pregnant until I gave birth. It was scary becoming a first-time mum with no warning.

“But I wouldn’t change Molly for the world, and I feel so lucky.”

The young mother said though she experienced fatigue during the period prior to the day she went to the hospital, she was under the notion that it might be as a result of her party outings.

“I thought it was from going out all the time. I still managed to get into my clothes so I just ignored it.”

On that amazing day in December 2015, when Charlotte was having the stomach pain, she took it lightly because she said “I took some paracetamol and hoped that it would blow over.
“Instead, the pain just got worse and I was in agony. An hour later I felt like I was going to be sick so I ran to the toilet and saw that my underwear was full of blood.

“I had just finished my period so I was really scared. I knew something was seriously wrong and booked a taxi to the hospital.”

When the news of expecting a baby in no time was revealed to her, Charlotte said “I panicked that I wasn’t prepared and hadn’t bought any baby clothes. I was so worried about what my parents would say when they found out that I was having a baby.”

However, ironically, when her parents arrived at the hospital, she said “They were really supportive and excited about their first grandchild.”

The pregnancy was for Charlotte’s ex-boyfriend, and she added that: “It’s crazy to think that I’d been carrying a baby all that time.

“When Mum called my work to explain that I’d had a baby, they were gobsmacked as they’d seen me the day before with no baby bump at all.

“My friends didn’t believe me until they saw a picture of Molly. Luckily I’m still a size 8 and didn’t need to lose any baby weight.

“Molly has joined the nursery that I work at so I can take her with me, which is perfect.

“Molly’s dad is an ex who is no longer in the picture, but I have plenty of help from my parents with the baby. I’m no longer a party animal but it’s worth it to have Molly.

“I can’t wait to tell her the story of how I discovered I was pregnant with her. Nothing Molly could ever do in the future would surprise me as much as the day she was born.”

Christianity Etc"Re-Electing Buhari Will Perpetuate Suffering" - Bishop Chukwuma by 15Ebisco(op): 6:39am On Apr 12, 2018
Ozekhome urges Nigerians to reject him at polls
The Archbishop, Enugu Ecclesiastical Province (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said that re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 would perpetuate suffering and evil in the country.

He, therefore, called on those fanning the embers of continuity to rethink their decision in the interest of the country and Buhari.

Chukwuma, who reiterated his earlier call on Buhari to quit at the expiration of his tenure in 2019, stated that accepting to re-contest the position might lead to his “disastrous end”, as according to him, “he has brought more tears and weeping on the people.”

Speaking with reporters yesterday in Enugu shortly after a service of songs in honour of the late Rev. Canon Chris Nwezi, held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Idaw River, Chukwuma expressed shock that President Buhari could contemplate to re-contest, saying such decision was a mockery on Nigeria.

He said: “I want to let you know that President Buhari declaring or not declaring is not anything to be feared. It is not anything that is new. Rather, he should know that it will lead to his disastrous end should he dare to re-contest. I have told him, he should go and rest.

“He has expired. All those yearning for him to continue are the people benefiting from him. He has not done anything to warrant his coming back to office. The way things are, we need a new wine in a new wine skin. I am against people who are coming out to perpetuate sufferings of the people and Buhari has shown that he cannot solve our problems. We need good governance. It does not matter the party you belong. All the people yearning to become president have all expired. They have no new thing to offer and we cannot continue to perpetuate failure and evil.”

Chukwuma urged Nigerians to intensify in prayers for God to intervene in the leadership of the country by removing all those who have continued to cause hardship and crisis, adding that it was not enough to release looters’ list but to prosecute those involved if the government was sure they were corrupt.

In a related vein, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and constitutional lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, has called on Nigerians to reject Buhari at the polls.

The lawyer, who stated although Buhari has the constitutional right to contest for a second term, said he had performed “abysmally and disastrously below average.”

The SAN, in a statement yesterday, also stressed that the second leg of Buhari’s campaign to stamp out insecurity did not happen.

His words: “At campaign rallies across Nigeria, he convinced gullible Nigerians that as a retired military General, he would lead from the front to crush Boko Haram. Indeed, he gleefully told a bemused country in December 2015 that Boko Haram had been ‘technically defeated’, and repeated it in 2016 that it ‘had been beaten.’ But, Nigerians know that Boko Haram is stronger today, more potent and more deadly than it ever was.

“He had promised to fight corruption. Three years down the line, he has not secured a single conviction of any high-profile politically-exposed person.”

PoliticsLooters’ List: Kwara Speaker Blasts Buhari Govt by 15Ebisco(op): 8:30am On Apr 11, 2018
The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has criticized the Buhari government for releasing ‘looters list’.

Ahmad spoke in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the state capital.

“To me, the expected looters’ list is an opposition list. I didn’t even read the other one and this one that is coming, I won’t read it. I know the names of those likely to be there, so I won’t waste my time reading it.

“I will rather invest my time on things that are resourceful and important. Honestly, preparing the looters’ list shows that the minister doesn’t have a serious work to do.

“You cannot fight corruption in Nigeria the way APC and the Federal Government are fighting it and get good results. First, our judicial system is very slow.

“What should be done is to change the perspectives of Nigerians about corruption and then strengthen the states and national assembly to do it”, Sun quoted him as saying.

On the President’s declaration to re-contest in 2019 presidential election, Ahmad said that Buhari had the constitutional right to contest for a second term.

“As a Nigerian and a politician, I want my party to win the presidential election,” he stated.

The Speaker also said that he would be interested in becoming the next governor of Kwara State if allowed by the stakeholders.

“If the people in authority believe that I’m capable, I will be interested in becoming Kwara State Governor in 2019,” Ahmad said.

Crime500 Renounce Cultism In Bayelsa As Police Arrest Firearms Supplier by 15Ebisco(op): 4:30am On Apr 10, 2018
Over 500 cultists in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital yesterday renounced their membership of various cult groups allegedly involved in violent crimes in some parts of the state. This is as the Bayelsa State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old girl, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to a gang of cultists who rob residents in Yenagoa led by her boyfriend.

The process of renunciation was witnessed by the leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Akpe, the special adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Oil and Gas/Bayelsa Volunteer, Hon. Bonny Ayah, the special adviser on Scholarship, Hon. Jeremiah Owoupele.

Also in attendance were the chairman of the State Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee, Engr. Igofo-Enieni Samson, the chairman of the Ijaw Youths Council (central zone), Comrade Tari Porri and the special adviser on Security, Spirro-Jack.

The event, which was organised by the State Security outfit known as Bayelsa Volunteer headed by Comrade Douye Koroye, was organised as part of the effort of the state government to give second chance to members of cult groups to renounce it and avoid lengthy jail term if arrested. Comrade Koroye explained that the Bayelsa Volunteer with the assistance of the state government decided that the only proper way is to give the youths a second chance at peace and proper lifestyle. “Nobody will victimise anybody.

We are here to renounce cultism and do the right thing,” he added. The leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon Peter Akpe, explained that the decision by the State Assembly and Dickson administration to pass the Bill amending the 2012 anti-cultism law was based on the need to strengthen the police to arrest and prosecute suspected cultists.

According to Akpe, “Nobody is interested in killing any repentant youths of the state. As you denounce, it end your era of shame and evil. Cultism will not take you anywhere. Cultism is for the weak minded youths.

Anything you take by shedding blood will be taken from you by shedding your blood. “ Also speaking, the chairman of the IYC, Central Zone, Tari Porri, said that the youths of the state should shun cultism and focus their energy at emerging as political force by contesting elections into local government councils and state assemblies in 2019.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Bayelsa State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old girl, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to a gang of cultists who rob residents in Yenagoa led by her boyfriend.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Asinim Butswat, said in statement yesterday that the arrest followed counter security measures code-named ‘Operation Safer Bayelsa’ put in place by the command to confront violent crimes in the state.

He said the gang which the girl supplied and kept deadly arms for had been terrorising residents and robbing them of their belongings, adding that the young men opened fire on security personnel in Azikoro, Yenagoa.

Sports14 Killed In Bus Crash Involving Hockey Players by 15Ebisco(op): 11:15am On Apr 07, 2018
No fewer than 14 people have been killed with 14 others injured after a tractor collided with a bus filled with members of a Junior League hockey team on their way to a playoff game, the Canadian authorities said.

The crash happened about 5 pm on a highway about 18 miles north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, RCMP, said; the wreck clogged traffic and caused major delays.

RCMP confirmed early Saturday morning that 28 people were on the bus, including the driver, 14 of whom were killed. The remaining 14 were taken to hospital with a range of injuries, including three in critical condition.

Investigators said a total of 28 people, including the driver, were on the bus as at late on Friday when the collision occurred.

“We are not confirming the identity of the victims at this time, including whether the deceased are players or coaches,” the police said in a statement early Saturday morning.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, in a tweet, identified the hockey team as the Humboldt Broncos. Players for the Broncos range in age from 16 to 21, according to the team’s roster.

The Broncos president, Kevin Garinger, said in a statement, “Our Broncos family is in shock as we try to come to grips with our incredible loss.”

The team had been scheduled to play the Nipawin Hawks on Friday night. “Tonight’s game is canceled,” the Hawks said on Twitter.

In a Facebook post, the premier of Saskatchewan, Scott Moe said his province was grieving.

“Words cannot describe the loss that we feel tonight,” he said, adding that, “The news I have heard is difficult to comprehend.”

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has already reacted tweeting that he could not imagine what the parents of the players were going through.

“My heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy,” he wrote on Twitter.

CelebritiesMy Facial Marks Was My Pain -- Funke Adesiyan Reveals by 15Ebisco(op): 5:06pm On Apr 06, 2018
Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan has revealed how her tribal marks affected her self-esteem to the point that she failed several times in achieving her goals in life.

Funke Adesiyan narrated on Instagram:

”Growing up as a child, I was a slim, tall, leggy beauty! I was the girl everyone wanted to be friends with. Most guys would lie to their friends I was their girlfriend. Cars would follow me home from the bus stop and my Grandmother (God rest her soul) would haul all the insults at me for walking provocatively on the street.

I’d argue with her it’s what my job ethics called for as I was a top model with Modela Agency and the street is our runway most times. Arguments would end on a slap note for talking back at her or keeping mute on her! Parents!!! You are never right with them. How I miss you Alhaja

Everyone admired me and would shout “hot stepper” when I walk. But this hot stepper had one pain she nursed in her heart- my facial marks. I felt it was a hinderance for me being a beauty queen, being a super model, being a flawless model! Each year, Uncle B, Modela, would prepare me for the big stage and I’d chicken out last minute for fear of my “flaw”. The only person I shared this with was my other self when I looked in the mirror.

I would spend minutes wishing I know the old man who marked my face and question my parents why it had to be me of all my siblings…. Fast forward many years later, I realized the only person who stopped me from achieving my goals as a would be beauty queen was myself. My self esteem was so low I supressed myself on many frontier… maybe I’d have been the first beauty queen with facial marks

It’s ironic how people wanna be you and all you see about yourself is a chubby face or a flabby belly. Not so cool. We need to constantly see beyond our supposed flaws, they are all in our heads. If you do not feel beautiful skin deep, you can’t feel beautiful on the inside.

No one can love you than you. If you like kill yourself in the quest of looking “perfect” because of a man or a woman, you will still see yourself like a bag of shit on the inside. For true perfection is inside out and it’s a place only you can find.

Would I remove my facial marks today? Hell NO! I love how artistic they look Moreso I need no one’s validation to feel beautiful or live life. You like me, Thank you. You don’t like me, I don’t expect everyone to.”

PoliticsWhy I Refused To Sign ECOWAS’ Economic Partnership Agreement – Buhari by 15Ebisco(op): 6:42pm On Apr 05, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday in Abuja explained why he refused to sign Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) among ECOWAS countries.

He said this was because of the need to protect the economy, especially the industries and small businesses that currently provide jobs for majority Nigerians.

Buhari spoke while receiving a Letter of Credence from the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria, Ketil Iversen Karlsen, at the State House, Abuja.

The President noted that the signing of the agreement will expose the industries and small businesses to external pressures and competitions, which could lead to closures and job losses.

“We are not enthusiastic about signing the EPA because of our largely youthful population. We are still struggling to provide jobs for them, and we want our youths to be kept busy.

“Presently, our industries cannot compete with the more efficient and highly technologically driven industries in Europe. We have to protect our industries and our youths,’’ he said.

Buhari, who commended the EU for its support for the rehabilitation of the North East, noted that the Nigerian economy was already being repositioned to attract more investments that will create jobs.

President Buhari said his administration will continually promote the culture of honesty and integrity in service, which will guarantee a better future for the youth.

“Our insistence on probity is to encourage people to be accountable, and accept honesty as a lifestyle so as to secure the future of our youths,’’ he said.

The President said more than 60 percent of Nigerians fall into the age category of youths and deserve to inherit a stable and prosperous country that they can be proud of, adding that the government will work assiduously to prevent waste and the depletion of resources by corrupt Nigerians.

In his remarks, Karlsen said the EU will continue to support President Buhari’s administration in the key priorities it listed; security, economy and the fight against corruption.

He said the EPA was designed to accommodate and protect some economies that would find it difficult to compete.

“We are hopeful that there will be a signature on the agreement,’’ he added.

CelebritiesThere Are Horrific Stories Of Sex Demands In Nollywood – Joke Silva by 15Ebisco(op): 1:12pm On Apr 04, 2018
Veteran Nigerian actress, Joke Silva, has said that horrific stories of sex demands are too much in Nollywood.

She said this while fielding questions from newsmen yesterday after the launch of ‘Disowned’, a book by Nina Anyianuka about sexual abuse and harassment, at Terra Kulture in Lagos.

The 56-year-old screen goddess said the pressure on young actresses to offer sexual favours is very high.

“Unfortunately, the casting couch issue is alive in Nollywood,” she began.

“Sometimes there is this hunger to get the work. Maybe you’ve gone to several auditions and you haven’t gotten the work, then somebody tells you that it is because you are not doing what you should do that is when you are not getting the work.

“What I say to them is don’t believe it. By the time the producer, director, production manager or whoever insists on sleeping with you, it is very likely you will end up not getting the work.

“Some of the sad stories we hear is that because some people are so desperate, they end up getting passed around.”

Drawing an analogy with entrepreneurs, Silva said up and coming actresses should not compromise their dignity to get by.

“There is no need for that,” she said.

“As an entrepreneur, you go round looking for money and you are probably going to get several noes before you get your yes.

“It’s the same with audition. You must keep your dignity. Find something else to keep body and soul together.

“That is why you hear that abroad people wait tables or work in restaurants because they need something to keep body and soul together until that break happens.

“You should be proud as long as you are earning honest money. If possible train yourself in audition skills.”

She added that having more women in positions of power and authority in Nollywood could stem the tide.

“We need more women producers, more women scriptwriters and more women stories so that we can then absorb a lot of women in the industry,” she concluded.

CelebritiesRuntown May Be Arrested For Blackmailing Himself Says Eric Many by 15Ebisco(op): 7:36pm On Apr 03, 2018
These times are not the best ones for Nigerian musician, Douglas Jack Agu who is popularly called Runtown. First, his record label, Eric Many slammed a Federal High Court injunction on him restraining him from performing and recording till he settles his debt with the label.

Recently a tape was released which had Runtown caught with a woman in bed, and he branded Eric Many as the black mailer but they denied and said they will make proper investigation on the act.

Eric Many went ahead to launch an investigation alongside investigative agencies.

According to a statement by Eric Many, “preliminary findings have revealed that the released tape and Whatsapp chat purportedly leaked by Runtown's label is totally fake and a badly executed stunt by the artist himself. Investigations have led to the capture of a suspect (name withheld) who confessed to using a fake Instagram account to spread the false tape leak on Runtown's request. We have maintained from the beginning of this saga that Eric Many has a verifiable court injunction against Runtown and we'll not resort to blackmail or cheap social media stunts as we believe in the rule of law. Investigations are on-going as regards the leaked tape story and we'll let the law take its full course” the statement said.

Eric Many General Manager Johnson Adumike also reacted to the development saying 'Ericmany has been vindicated but we refuse to be drawn into media war with Runtown who the label made and will therefore not destroy.

PoliticsBoko Haram: IPOB Speaks On Buhari’s Plan To Grant Amnesty To Insurgents by 15Ebisco(op): 8:29am On Apr 03, 2018
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted to the proposed plan by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to grant amnesty to members of Boko Haram.

The IPOB said such a move was a confirmation that the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government was in a collaboration with the terrorist group.

It also called on well meaning people “to seek the reaction of Chief Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the South East governors that proscribed peaceful IPOB on this issue of Boko Haram amnesty, as well as their take on the supposed release without trial of killers of Igbo people at Mubi and Madala, among others.”

This was part of a statement yesterday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful.

The group wondered if it was not the same insurgents the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed claimed had been defeated.
The statement reads, “How come they are negotiating permanent ceasefire with Boko Haram? Are we now to believe that Boko Haram was not defeated in the first place?

“It is not a surprise to us that the President Buhari- led APC government is now seeking to acknowledge publicly what they have been doing in secret all along, which is, granting early release and amnesty to confirmed killers and terrorists.

“There is something about the mindset of this administration that predisposes it to killers and terrorists.

“What this move confirms, even to the most ardent supporters of the government, is that Boko Haram is part and parcel of the present government.

“President Buhari appears to have a deep affinity with the tendencies of Boko Haram, the same way he has become beholden to killer herdsmen that are decimating innocent non Muslim populations across the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria.

“Boko Haram’s well documented atrocities propelled Buhari into office and so, he is reciprocating that very gesture now through this amnesty, in the hope that a comprehensive agreement with the terror group will guarantee him a second term.

“As long as politicians from Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt were still divided in their respective approaches to the issue of Nigeria’s existence, the core north would continue to take advantage of the one Nigeria mindset to perpetuate impunity whilst in government.

“The silence of these groups namely, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and South Eastern Governors, who themselves conspired to invite the Nigerian military to commit mass murder in Afaraukwu Umuahia, Ngwa, Aba and Igweocha (Port Harcourt) means they should bury their heads in shame.

“The same Hausa- Fulani rulers they were desperately trying to please by proscribing IPOB activities are now the same people setting free ,killers of Igbo people in the north without the courtesy of mere consultation to seek their opinion.

“Hausa- Fulani leadership is busy protecting those that killed Igbos in the name of Islam, while Igbo politicians and Ohanaeze Ndigbo are busy helping the same north to kill their own people who are non-violently fighting for their freedom.

“Where is therefore, the morality in the stance of Nnia Nwodo, Governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Dave Umahi, Willie Obiano, Rochas Okorocha and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi against IPOB? Let the people and posterity judge them”, IPOB said.

PoliticsFG Told Us Boko Haram, Herdsmen Are Foreigners, Then Why Granting Amnesty To For by 15Ebisco(op): 12:21pm On Apr 02, 2018
Environmental Rights Activist and Convener of Niger-Delta Self-Determination Movement, NDSDM, Ann Kio-Briggs, has warned the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government against granting amnesty to Boko Haram members with resources from the Niger Delta.

Opposing the plan, Kio-Briggs said amnesty for Boko Haram would amount to the government admitting that Nigerian government had failed and was incapable of saving Nigerians from terrorists and foreign invaders.

She noted that the government had repeatedly described Boko Haram insurgents and killer herdsmen as foreigners.

She wondered why the government would turn around to grant foreigners amnesty.

Her words, ”Boko Haram has owned up to being a terrorist group. It has declared its support and affiliation to the ISIS, a renowned world terrorist organisation.

“If the government wants to grant amnesty to a terrorist group, I think this country is finished. It means kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals can be granted amnesty.

”This government wants Nigerians to believe that Boko Haram will embrace amnesty. I hope they don’t want to use Niger Delta oil money for the amnesty programme.

“Government has told us repeatedly that Boko Haram are foreigners. By wanting to grant amnesty to Boko Haram, the government has admitted that Nigeria has failed and it has no capacity to protect Nigerians. We have killer herdsmen all over the place.

“Foreigners have invaded Nigeria and the best the government can do is to grant them amnesty? That is why we in the Niger Delta want referendum.

“Restructuring would have been good but since the core North does not want restructuring, we want referendum.”
