Celebrities“I Am Not Worth My World-record €222 Million Transfer Fee” – Neymar by 15Ebisco(op): 7:20am On Jun 16, 2018
Brazilian superstar forward says he is ‘not proud’ of his world-record transfer fees.

Neymar has admitted he is not worth the world-record £200million Paris Saint- Germain paid for him.

The French giants triggered the 26-year-old Brazilian star’s €222million release clause to sign him from Barcelona last summer.

Asked about his record move, Neymar said: “I’m not proud of the transfer fee, nor of the fact I’m the most expensive player ever.

“That’s just money and nothing else. I cannot help it. Personally, I would have paid less for myself.

“I’m proud that I’ve achieved my childhood goal. That was, and is, most important to me. As a player, you always have to show who you are and assert yourself.

“Just referring to the transfer fee does not help you and says nothing about how good you really are.”

The Brazilian superstar has been a sensation in Paris. He scored 28 goals in 30 appearances for PSG and was crowned the Ligue 1 Player of the Year.

RomanceWhat To Do When Your Partner’s Parents Don’t Like You by 15Ebisco(op): 10:59pm On Jun 15, 2018
It would have been easy if one could always just get out of the relationship every time this happens. But of course, it’s never that easy.

It’s either too difficult because you are too connected to your partner to let go; or they won’t let you go because they don’t care what their family says.

So you can’t get up and out of the relationship, what could you possibly do?

Here are helpful tips if you ever find yourself in this situation:

1. What if they have a reason to?

Your partner is all that really matters, but parents have a stake in his or her life so their opinions can’t just be thrown out without consideration.

So when you get the feeling that one or both of them don’t like you, you need to a bahaviour check.

Some parents usually don’t have good reasons to hate on their kids’ partners, but sometimes, they do have things to really worry about.

It would make sense if they’d tell you what it is, but some of them won’t. It won’t hurt to discover these things and change by yourself.

2. Remain respectful

Even when it’s obvious that their dislike is unfounded, you can’t become disrespectful to them. Maintain respect, class and dignity and all times.

It’s your partner’s duty to stand up for you if they ever disrespect you.

3. Don’t make your partner take sides

Whether intentionally or unintentionally. Don’t force your partner’s hands into picking either you or their parents. They might resent you later for it.

If your partner would make that choice, let them do it without pressure from you.

4. Don’t knock yourself over it

If you have no secrets hidden from your partner and if he or she is cool with the totality of you despite what his parents or family say, then you have no problem.

Ultimately, the decision to defy parents will have to come from the person

5. Leave

As a last resort, you might have to let go.

You want to be sure you are not going into such situation with someone who won’t stand up for you, or who will make things even worse for.

And one of the ways to know will be how they respond to their parents’ dislike of you.

Do they respect you and ensure their parents do not disrespect you? Do they make their stand with you clear enough?

If they don’t, you might need to walk out of that relationship, no matter how much it hurts.

Politics"Probe Oshiomhole" - Osadolor Ochei Tells Court To Compel EFCC To Probe Ex Gov. by 15Ebisco(op): 10:53pm On Jun 14, 2018
An anti-corruption crusader, Bishop Osadolor Ochei, Thursday asked a Federal High Court in Abuja for an order of mandamus compelling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence criminal proceedings against former Edo state governor and National Chairmanship aspirant, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on alleged corruption.

He filed an ex-parte motion marked FHC/ABJ/CS/628/2018 praying the court to order EFCC to put Oshiomole on trial followed the Bishop’s petition to the EFCC, dated October 28, 2016 ‎against the former governor of Edo state, from November 2008 to November 11, 2016.

The applicant, in the fresh motion, wants the court to declare that the anti-graft agency has the statutory duty to investigate and prosecute the former governor, upon his allegations against him in line with Act, establishing the commission.

In an affidavit deposed personally by the applicant, he averred that, in view of the fact that corruption has become a societal ill which has eaten deep into the fabric of the society, there is the need for the EFCC to take complaints against corrupt practices serious.

He said he has severally complained to the EFCC about allegation of corrupt practices against Oshiomhole without eliciting any response or interest by the commission.

According to him, “On May 4, 2012, one Matthew Edaghese sent a petition to the EFCC, complaining that while serving as governor, Oshiomhole built mansions on a huge expanse of land worth more than N10 billion, in excess of the former governor’s legitimate means of income as governor.

‎”That EFCC did nothing about the petition”, Bishop Ochei stated, adding that he had in 2016 filed a petition against Oshiomhole’s corrupt practices without any action by the EFCC.”

He accused the former governor of corruptly enriching himself with the fund of the Edo state government.

No date has yet been fixed for hearing of the ex-parte motion before chief judge of the federal high court, Justice Abdul Kafarati.

CrimeWhat Emir Gambari Did For Herdsmen To Leave UNILORIN Campus by 15Ebisco(op): 11:25am On Jun 14, 2018
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari, has intervened in the face-off between the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, and herdsmen who had vowed not to relocate from the university’s land. The emir has now resettled the cattle rearers.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sulyman AbdulKareem, had, at a meeting with the herdsmen in February, told the herders that, “enough is enough,” stressing that the institution can no longer condone the destructive activities of their grazing cattle on its land, “as this is becoming too costly for the institution to bear”.

However, Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, in Kwara State, Alhaji Usman Adamu, asked the government to prevail on the authorities of the university not to evict them from their settlement on the school’s grounds.

He contended that they had settled on the land before the university was established, hence it would be impossible for them to relocate.

But speaking yesterday during the annual iftar interaction with newsmen in Ilorin, the Vice Chancellor revealed that the Emir intervened to save the day, by providing a parcel of land at a village, Opolo, in Ilorin South Local Government Area for the herdsmen in order to douse the brewing tension between the two camps.

He said, “At that first meeting, I agreed to do the bidding agreed upon by my predecessors. The lucky thing is that after media reports, I got invited to the Emir’s palace.

“I went there and I told the emir exactly what happened. I must thank him for the way he took everything.

“He said he thought we were taking care of everything on our own and not leaving anything for them to input.

“When we told him what we did, he said he had agreed to give a parcel of land in Opolo village, to these herdsmen and he will arrange what will be given to them.

“The last few times that we met the herdsmen, we thought they will live together, but they said that one group, out of the two, will have to migrate somewhere else, but the one that will stay will take the land offered by the emir.

“We pray, again, that they will not bring their cattle to the university land once they are located very close to the university: that is where we stand.”

PoliticsJune 12: SERAP, CACOL, CDHR React To Soyinka’s Call For ‘hall Of Shame’ by 15Ebisco(op): 8:32am On Jun 14, 2018
Three civil society organisations, the Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights on Wednesday supported Nobel Laurette, Wole Soyinka’s call for the setting up of a Hall of Shame for corrupt past leaders and politicians.

Soyinka had on Tuesday during the Special National Honours Investiture at the Presidential Villa applauded President Buhari for the honour done MKO Abiola, Kingibe and Gani Fawehinmi, advising that other unknown victims of the annulment should be honoured.

He urged Buhari to set up a Hall of Shame for corrupt past leaders and politicians the same way he had started a Hall of Fame for those who had contributed to the nation’s development.

“As we inaugurate hall of fame we should Inaugurate hall of shame on another hand.

“Hall of Shame should be in line with Hall of Honours. Many unsung heroes and heroines. The torture, dehumanizing of Nigerians were horrendous,” Soyinka was quoted saying.

Responding to Soyinka’s statement, SERAP in a statement by its Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, in support of Soyinka’s call said setting up of a parallel hall would restore sanity into Nigeria’s public administration and restore the country’s value system.

Mumuni, said, “I believe that as we have incorporated honours for those who have done us proud. We should also have a Hall of Shame where it will be documented that some persons have looted our treasury blindly.

“The call of Soyinka to me is very timely and it makes a whole lot of national sense.”

Similarly, the CACOL Director, Debo Adeniran in his statement in support of Soyinka said corrupt leaders should not be glorified even after justice has been served but be put to shame.

He called for their names and corrupt acts be published everywhere in the country to serve as examples against corruption.

“We should have the name, shame, and nail corrupt leaders policy everywhere and every time. It is to serve as a deterrent to other young and aspiring leaders.

“Corrupt leaders should not return from jail and be welcomed into their community as we saw in Delta State.

“Basically, Soyinka’s call is a good way to go and it will deter political leaders from going the way of unbridled corruption and looting.”

Also the CDHR President, Malachy Ugwummadu, said that he had always emphasised the need to criminalise and demonise all forms of bad public behaviour, including stealing.

According to him, corruption, greed, and over-ambition led to the annulment of the June 12 election.

“The government must set up a Hall of Shame which will reinforce the values which our country holds dear and discountenance bad behaviour,” he added.

Politics2019: Donald Duke Speaks On Obasanjo’s Backing, Says Zoning Undemocratic by 15Ebisco(op): 8:29pm On Jun 12, 2018
A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Donald Duke, has said he has no backing of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Duke, a former governor of Cross River, had during the week, declared his intention to run in the 2019 presidential election.

He spoke with newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, saying that though he remained close to Obasanjo, his decision to run was personal.

He said, “I am not hypocritical. I am close the former president but he is neither my sponsor nor backup. However, those who come up with this propaganda also go to get the ex-president’s endorsement.

“I will not keep people aside because of what others think. I need everybody’s support but I am running as Duke and nobody’s stogie.

“I will be putting myself up to run. How it pans out is not what I can say,’’ he said.

On the zoning system operated by the PDP, the former governor said that it would not deter him from running as it remained his constitutional rights.

“Let the people decide. Zoning is undemocratic. I am running as a Nigerian. Zoning has never brought out the best in us. It brings compromise,’’ he said.

Crime8 Killed As Bandits, Vigilante Clash In Sokoto – Police by 15Ebisco(op): 1:36pm On Jun 12, 2018
The Sokoto State Police Command on Monday confirmed eight deaths in a clash that ensued between armed bandits and local vigilante members in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, told newsmen that at least eight persons were feared dead during the fracas, including an elderly person who the bandits went to kidnap.

Nwawe said investigation was still ongoing, adding that the bandits were said to have come from neighbouring communities in Zamfara.

She said, “The state Commissioner of Police had visited the village to condoled with the families of the victims of the attack.”

She assured of police determination and commitment to fish out the perpetrators and to protect the community against future attack.

However, report indicated that 13 people were killed as a result of the clash following a failed attempt by the bandits to kidnap an elderly man at Dan Tasango village in Gebe district on Saturday.

According to an eye witness, who spoke with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the bandits killed seven members of the group and lost five members during the battle.

“It is true that they (bandits) lost five of their men but they quickly evacuated their corpses which have been their usual trend because they don’t want to leave any trace,” the eye witness told newsmen.

A Security personnel, who pleaded anonymity, advised governments of the two states to form a formidable task force, comprising all security agencies and give them all necessary support to confront the bandits in their suspected hideouts.

“This is the only way we can tackle security challenges in these states because their hideouts are known,” he said.

PoliticsSaraki Addresses Nigerians As 8th Senate Clocks 3 Years by 15Ebisco(op): 8:36pm On Jun 11, 2018
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has thanked Nigerians all over the country for their support and encouragement towards the work of the 8th Senate since it was inaugurated three years ago.

In a statement issued from Saudi Arabia where he is on lesser hajj, Saraki acknowledged that the achievements of the Senate would not have been possible without the backing of Nigerians, who have played a more active role in the activities of the legislature since June 9, 2015.

Saraki said: “In three short but eventful years, we have definitely come a long way in this 8th Senate. We have worked assiduously and diligently to meet the demands of Nigerians and a changing economy that experienced a recession just a year after we assumed office.

“In this time, we have passed 213 Bills, cleared 138 petitions submitted by the public. We are happy to say that this Senate is the most productive since 1999. It has surpassed the 5th Senate which with 129 bills in four years had the highest number of bills, as against the 6th Senate with 72 bills, and 128 passed by the 7th Senate. The number of petitions we have successfully treated to the satisfaction of Nigerians who filed them dwarfed the eight and six treated by the sixth and seventh Senate respectively.

“The present Senate has worked to grow our economy by passing Bills like the Companies and Allied Matters Act, the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act, the Credit Bureau Reporting Act and the Warehouse Receipts Bill, Nigerian Railways Authority Bill, National Transportation Commission Bill, which are aimed at providing significant reforms to our business environment and strengthening our lending legislative frameworks to allow SMEs to access capital.

“We are particularly glad that the impact of the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act and the Credit Bureau Reporting Act became apparent immediately after they were signed into law as they form the basis for which the World Bank upgraded the rating of Nigeria in its Annual Ease of Doing Business rating. We expect that when the new CAMA which we just passed becomes law, it will yield an even more significant results in helping small and medium scale entrepreneurs to access capital, grow and multiply.

“We have also passed Bills like the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit Bill, the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, the Witness Protection Bill, the Whistleblower Protection Bill and the Federal Audit Service Commission Bill to support the fight against corruption. It should be noted that the National Assembly quickly rose to the occasion to prevent the expulsion of Nigeria from the Global community on the exchange of financial intelligence by expediting the passage of the NFIU bill.

“With the support of the Nigerian public, we were able to break the PIB jinx, by passing the Governance Component of the Petroleum Industry Bill, and now, we have successfully conducted the Public Hearing on the Administrative, Fiscal and Host Community Components of this Bill — taking it to its farthest stage since 1999.

“Also of note is our passage of the constitution amendment bills, some of which will change the landscape of governance in Nigeria. Some of the bills like the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill, the Financial Autonomy for Local Government Bill, Financial Autonomy for Houses of Assembly among others are aimed at improving governance and ensuring that government serves our people better.”

The Senate President also highlighted some of the interventions of the Senate since June 9, 2015, noting that the impact of the work of the legislature in Nigeria’s system of governance was starting to be understood.

“The legislature as the youngest of the three arms of government still has a lot of catching up to do in ensuring that Nigerians understand its role in our democracy. This is why we have been attentive and responsive to the needs of Nigerians by intervening where it counts.

“We will like to reiterate the fact that this Senate has taken deliberate measures aimed at opening up the institution for better understanding by members of the public. These measures include providing details and breakdown of the annual budget of the National Assembly, holding of public hearing as part of the budget preparation process, the proposed Open Nass week aimed at engaging with other arms of government and civil society groups and the frequent discussions with a view to resolving issues involving labour unions, government and other stakeholders.

“We exposed high-level corruption in the management of the North East relief efforts, and passed the North East Development Commission Bill, which has now been signed into law.

“We have also engaged stakeholders on the drug epidemic that is ravishing a significant demographic of our population and we are set to pass new Bills that will help to address the Mental Health aspect of drug abuse and the law enforcement component that has to do with ensuring that all agencies of the Federal Government are working in-sync to tackle this menace with clearly defined legal structures in place. We equally intervened in the human trafficking and illegal migration crises plaguing the youthful segment of our population.

“We have also been working to ensure that healthcare remains the right of every Nigerian and this is why with the passage of the One Percent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) to establish the Basic Healthcare Fund in the 2018 budget, primary healthcare will be within reach for all 180 million of us.

“The One Percent Basic Healthcare Fund is an intervention we made out of our conviction that all Nigerians, no matter their station in life, deserve access to qualittive and affordable health care. This is a move we made for the ordinary Nigerians and we believe it will help to create a more vibrant, healthy and patriotic citizenry.

“This Fund will help us eliminate the problem of maternal and infant mortality as well as create a healthy population. We will be able to ensure that all our kids get necessary immunization that keep various diseases away from them and ensure the mothers are well catered for during child birth,” he stated.

The Senate President said security issues remains work in progress, adding that Senators are tired of the frequent observance of one-minute silence following the killing of Nigerians in the various conflicts and criminal activities across the country.

He added that the Senate was engaging with security agencies to ensure that all the necessary laws and funds needed to ensure the safety of lives and property in the country are put in place.

Saraki pledged that the Senate and the National Assembly will continue to be transparent, accountable and responsive even as the nation and its political office holders prepare for the 2019 elections.

“Some might see it as a time to leave governance and focus on politics. We do not believe this. We will continue to push forward and continue to perform. This is what Nigerians who sent us to Abuja to represent their interests expect of us: a committed, transparent, accountable and responsive government. We have shown this through our antecedents, and as we continue to serve in the next one year, we will continue to be just that,” he said.

Foreign AffairsAustria Shuts 7 Mosques, Expels ‘political Imams’ by 15Ebisco(op): 10:11am On Jun 08, 2018
Austria will expel several foreign-funded imams and shut seven mosques in a crackdown on “political Islam”, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced on Friday.

Kurz said the moves came after an investigation by the religious affairs authority into images which emerged earlier this year of children in Turkish-backed mosques playing dead and reenacting the World War I battle of Gallipoli.

“Parallel societies, political Islam and radicalisation have no place in our country,” Kurz said.

The photos, published by the Falter weekly, showed the young boys in camouflage uniforms marching, saluting, waving Turkish flags and then playing dead.

Their “corpses” were then lined up and draped in the flags.

The mosque in question was run by the Turkish-Islamic Cultural Associations (ATIB) organisation, based in the German city of Cologne, and a branch of Turkey’s religious affairs agency Diyanet.

ATIB itself condemned the photos at the time, calling the event “highly regrettable”.

PoliticsMKO Abiola: PDP Chieftain, Babatope, Lagos Lawmaker React To Buhari’s Declaratio by 15Ebisco(op): 7:09am On Jun 07, 2018
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ebenezer Babatope, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 as a new Democracy Day and for posthumously awarding Chief MKO Abiola, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR).

Buhari in a press release , had announced that MKO Abiola, winner of the annulled election, will be posthumously awarded the highest honour in the land, GCFR.

Babatope, a former Minister of Transport and member PDP Board of Trustees, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone that the president’s motivation was right.

“Even though one may question the timing, the motivation is right.

“We should commend Buhari for the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day and the conferment of GCFR on the late MKO Abiola,” he said.

Also, Mr Wasiu Eshinokun-Sanni, the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, said that the truth had prevailed.

Eshinokun-Sanni, who noted that he received the news with a mixed feeling, commended the Lagos State Government to have recognised Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi, a late human rights lawyer.

“The good part is that effort of Nigerians in forgetting religious and tribal sentiments as exhibited by the June 12 elections is not in vain. June 12 is Democracy Day is also symbolic.

“What Obasanjo (former President) failed to recognise all this while in spite being the greatest beneficiary of June 12, a Nigerian of northern extraction has brought it to the front burner,” he said.

“Accordingly, after due consultations, the Federal Government has decided that henceforth, June 12 will be celebrated as the Democracy Day.

” Therefore, government has decided to award posthumously, the highest honour of the land, GCFR to late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 cancelled election.

“His running mate as Vice President Amb. Baba Gana Kingibe is also to be invested with a GCON.

“Furthermore, the tireless fighter for human rights and the actualisation of June 12 elections and indeed for democracy in general, the Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN, is to be awarded posthumously a GCON.

“The commemoration and investiture will take place on Tuesday June 12, a date which in future years will replace May 29 as a National Public Holiday in celebration of the Nigerian Democry.”

SportsNeymar Returns In Scoring Style As Brazil Beat Nigeria’s World Cup Opponent, Cro by 15Ebisco(op): 8:01am On Jun 04, 2018
Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar, scored in a friendly against Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup opponent, Croatia as Brazil won 2-0 at Anfield Stadium on Sunday.

The 26-year-old, who has been out of action for three months, had a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle during PSG match against Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1.

Neymar came on as a halftime substitute and then provided the moment of inspiration to win the game in the 69th minute.

Willian, impressive throughout for Brazil, picked the ball up in midfield and threaded the ball to Philippe Coutinho who found Neymar in the inside-left channel.

The 26-year-old who played from the left flank cut inside and skipped past two defenders before blasting the ball home off the underside of the crossbar.

Neymar’s goal was his 54th for his country and he needs one to reach Romario as the third most prolific Brazil striker of all time behind Pele and Ronaldo.

Another substitute, Roberto Firmino, delighted the Liverpool fans in the Anfield crowd by adding the second in stoppage-time with a well-taken lob from inside the area.

Brazil’s opening game in World Cup Group E is against Switzerland and they also face Costa Rica and Serbia in the first round.

The five-times world champions have one more friendly before the tournament, against Austria in Vienna on June 10.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Mr Opeyemi Bamidele, and an unidentified person were shot on Friday in Ado-Ekiti at a reception for the candidate of the party, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the reception which held at the APC secretariat in the Ekiti capital had attracted a large crowd of party supporters.

Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu, Fayemi and a former Minister of Works, Dayo Adeyeye , were descending the stairs case at the secretariat when a policeman was said to have suddenly shot into the air to scare the surging crowd.

Bamidele was said to have been shot on the hand in the ensuing melee while the other victim was also hit.

The two victims were hurriedly conveyed to a hospital where they are said to be under treatment.

The APC spokesperson in the state, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement described the incident as “ a clear case of assassination attempt.’’
Opeyemi Bamidele: hit by the ‘policeman’

He claimed that the gunman had aimed his gun at Fayemi and missed, with the bullet hitting Bamidele and the other victim.

He also claimed that the policeman was fake and an assassin.

But the police spokesman in the state, Caleb Chukwuemeka, said the command was still awaiting the report of the incident from its officers deployed to provide security at the reception.

Later in a TV interview, Chukuwemeka said the policeman was on illegal duty, as he does not belong to the state.

Fayemi and his entourage had earlier been received in Ikere Ekiti by a long convoy of vehicles and large crowd of party supporters, resulting in a traffic snarl on the Ado-Ekiti –Akure road.
Fayemi with Governor Akeredolu on arrival in Ado Ekiti before the gunshot

Addressing the crowd, Akeredolu applauded the party members for putting behind them the post-primary crisis.

He said the huge crowd was indicative that the state had remained a stronghold of the APC.

“Fayemi has returned with full force to reclaim the land. He needs your support and this task shall be achieved in the mighty name of God,’’ he said.

Fayemi, in his response, said “ we are here to work for Ekiti and our party leaders and this we are going to do together because it is a collective responsibility.

“We are going to work with everybody, including those who just decamped to our party, because we are one big family in APC.

“We shall win by the grace of God. Our case was like the case of a ram who moved backwards to garner more strength. We are here to rescue Ekiti and it is a task we must achieve.”

Adeyeye, who returned to the party on Tuesday after 12 years in the PDP, also said: “I have returned home and my mission is to ensure that we kill (Gov. Ayo) Fayose politically by burying him.

“We shall mobilise well to achieve this task and by the grace of God this is a must-win and must accomplished task for all of us.’’

NAN reports that Fayemi’s choice for deputy governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, was also in the entourage.

Bloody politicking returned to Ekiti State yesterday(Friday), as former Governor Kayode Fayemi survived assassination in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.

Fayemi resigned his appointment on Wednesday as the Minister of Mines and Steel Development and was returning to Ekiti State on Friday in a welcome party planned by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was a smooth ride from Akure Airport to Ikere-Ekiti where thousands of supporters came out to give him a rousing welcome.

Ikere-Ekiti journey to Ado-Ekiti, a distance of about nine kilometres, lasted two hours in a heavy traffic that was punctuated by four gunmen suspected to be agents of the state government who strategically positioned themselves at the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti for the attack.

One of the assailants dressed in mobile police uniform was apprehended and he is now helping the police in their investigation.

They fired gunshots aimed at Fayemi but hit a former lawmaker, Opeyemi Bamidele, after the former minister had taken a few steps forward before the bullets hit the target.

Bamidele and other victims were immediately rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, where doctors are responding to his treatment.

Bamidele was fatally wounded in the attack while others also sustained various degrees of injuries.

Other victims in the hospital included Olabode Joshua, Olanrewaju Gbenga, Adebayo Ogunjemilehin, Ogunmodede Oluwole and Alex Adeleye.
