@All
Someone said this before but I think it doesn't hurt to say it again: Do not attempt to buy a bigger dish just to track Sirius.
Always check EIRP ratios bfore you spend time and money on new dishes.
I Never had such an easy install in my entire life. In fact it was so easy i almost felt Disappointed .

@All NSS7 Users
On Your Current installation return southbound approx 90 Deg on Azimuth details while ensuring elevation guage hits 60 to 62 (on 60 cm)
STV signal appears strongest so you may want to use that. 12578 cum 4064 (however when you are done tracking please blind scan to get actuals, i noticed after blind scanning my freq was different from what Lyngsat is declaring to the world)

@All Who Thought They Could Use 1 Dish For Sirius and W3A
People i spent almost 1 hour with an additional LNB on my W3A installation trying to track Sirius Southbound from W3A in various skew flavours. Hard Luck No Luck!
Lesson of The Story: Always get another dish if you would like to watch W3A and Sirius all at once.

Long time. Don't worry, I wont tell your boss! I just called Sathob. Just got myself a 2.4m mesh dish, trying to motorise it. We are thinking of Nilesat and Hotbird. Give it a try at your end and see how it goes.

I dont understand o. In my last report on starsat and abra card, i made mention that it opened only the showtime channels. I left home to see a friend, and by the time I came back, i discovered that all the ART channels are also opened. Could it be that it has updated itself? I guess the starsat is it for me. To show the doubting thomases, here below are pics of some of the channels.

Twinstaiye,
You got the original receiver.Congratulations.the next level for you is hotbird and eurobird.

all,
I was researching on European satellites yesternight and stumbled on the beams of hotbird 13*W and eurobird 25.5*E.I discovered that hotbird is farther than eurobird to Nigeria.Would you believe that Eurobird's beam gets to northern Sokoto while hotbird stops at North Africa yet we picked it in Lagos with 1.8m?With this info,I called mide2008 in Ilesha to try out Eurobird this morning on his 2.4m dish,and voila he picked it.Orbit satellite on Eurobird is one of the packages abracadabra opens.If you are in the North,all you need is a minimum of 1.8m to pick it.Adewest also has it in Bauchi but what I don't understand is why Ilorin finds it hard to pick.The same thing happened with MBC Persia which we pick easily in Lagos,yet Kaduna finds it hard to pick.Why is it that signals behave funny,eluding dishes near its footprint but being picked by dishes far from it?

Thanks for hosting me & my family today despite the short notice. Regards to your son & madam.

I witnessed with my koro koro eyes the starsat and the Abrakadabra wonder card @ work in twinstaye's house. That thing is working. It opened all the showtime & art channels. I think I'll get mine soon.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by oduamine: 9:56pm On Dec 26, 2008
@ tox,
me and u npo fit fight again, we fit just dey wrong eachother but fight (dat one no fit happen again). You are the only different one, you only want people to visit you in the studio and not at hom,e cos this is simply due to the absence of a 'real woman' and not mere 'fishes' in that house. If guys should be at your end, what will you offer the? at least i don chop for ola's, badaru's, folo's places all because of the presence of 'real women' but you will have nothing to give, if not because of the fishes i would've turned the invitation down.

@ ola,
i expressed your sincere gratitude to oga today cos i was at his end today, we talked about a lot of things and high possibility of getting eurobird with his 2.4m dish, but he said the eurobird is that of 25.5E oooooo, he'll give hotbird and eurobird this weekend.

nice work with your observation. it's obvious now that for anyone to truly enjoy this FTA thing you need BIG dishes. come next year, we will be shooting down a lot of BIG Birds.

merry christmas  ,
    members of the fta, it has been a wonderful year on free to air, i would like to appreciate all ur efforts in making the  information available to all, i have  learnt a lot i must admit, and i hope to learn more. After seeing the pictures u posted(show sports)  twinstaye,  i have decided that my next step would be nilesat, i live in the south east where a dish of 3.5m  up is needed to track the bird , however  twinstaye i d like to know how much it costs to acquire the starsat decoder and abracadabra card, thank you
happy celebrations

@ all,
i've be noticing that maps on lyngsat really confuse one a lot, imagine nile signal stopping all the way in egypt on lyng-map, but still being received here, there're a lot of european beams that can be gotten here in the south, i think we should give amos and atlantic bird a try also to see whats cooking up on those birds
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by obnelly: 11:26pm On Dec 26, 2008

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 11:43pm On Dec 26, 2008
Enitan/Mr.Oduamine,
who is the She that used ur pc in ur absence?or should i ask which of the Shes?thanks for ur contribution on the European beams.I am currently working on the other beams not yet explored.I want to pick as many birds that could stray into our territory.I will post my discoveries.But if you really need to catch this birds,then get a bigger gun,oo I mean bigger dish.I don turn to soldier too! On wetin to chop,I will surprise you when you come.The only problem is that I am hardly home,even on public holidays and environmental sanitation hours.I no fit tell my fish to take care of you alone.I dey fear you and your Ijebu jazz baba eleye.

obnelly,
how far with digisat on 2.4m in ur area?we dey wait ooo!

all,
I also discovered that Orbit on Eurobird2 which gets to Nigeria has Al Jazeera+1 and +2 on its package at 11054 Horizontal 27500.
Another discovery-HOT BIRD™ 10 and 9 coming soon.
The HOT BIRD™ 10 broadcast satellite will be launched in first quarter 2009 and positioned at the Group’s 13 degrees East location.Built by EADS Astrium, Eutelsat's high-power HOT BIRD™ 9 satellite is designed for consumer broadcasting to satellite and cable homes across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Equipped with 64 transponders, it will join Eutelsat’s 13 degrees East position to increase in-orbit sparing at the Group’s premium video neighbourhood. HOT BIRD™ 9 is identical to HOT BIRD™ 8 which was launched to 13 degrees East in August 2006 and HOT BIRD™ 10 which will be orbited by Arianespace beginning of 2009.

I was able to track hotbird yesterday nigth with my 2.4m dish. the signal level was encouraging,I got over 200 channels including art sports and movies. I also got almost all the sky italian package.

The signal range is between 51-65%,there are lots of other tps that may move later. the eurobird in question is that of 25.5 d east very close to arabsat,the signal level is sometime higher than nile,but most of th channels are blocked,excep you have abracadabra card you wont enjoy it. The best way to enjoy it is to motorise you dish.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 7:35am On Dec 27, 2008
I was about posting the research result of badaru concerning hotbird cos i just received a call from him regarding that, but he's already done that himself. @ all, just to remind you guys that tracking a satellite depend first if it is located within your geographical horizon, then followed by the dish size. If the bird is out of your horizon,not even a 10m dish will pick that up, this is when the issue of elevation come into place. You all can see how the elevation of 68.5 E looks like, so tell me if farther birds can be gotten?

@ BADARU
whch 2.4m dish did u used- strong or eurostar and was it motorized?and how many porn channels were free also how many channels can be open with keys in strong receiver.keep the good work going.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 8:52am On Dec 27, 2008
@ pitodenz,
badaru made use of 2.4m strong dish, don't confuse yourself with eurostar or strong, once the dish has double layer by the side, then you're free to go.
You didntt ask of how many sports,movies or documentaries stations but you only asked after porn, which kind life una all dey live for dis forum sef? it seems majority of guys here are all sex addict, mide,tox (baba of them), adewest, ola(i no trust you sef),[s] badaru (he's not among but he's PSAT card)[/s], justx24 (it was watching free porn that drove him to FTA), the list is just uncountable

@Alhaji Badaru
well done my brother. Thats a fantastic achievement. Can you give list some of the nice channels you can view.

@porn lovers
I don't know if its proper for me to comment on this. Anyway sha, you guys need to be carefull becos a research report says if your interest lies in this area, you may lose interest in the real thing when you eventually marry. Its addictive in short.

@ twinstaiye and all echolink abracard users,please note that u can sometime achieve upgrade via sat on ART package when ur dish is still log on the nilebird as at when the upgrade is rel via sat.And for those making there upgrade via RS232 point(manual download),after ur initial download stay patient as the ART parkage takes some moment to respond so don't get yourself BORED just keep ur receiver chn on B4U while idle and enjoy

@ All,
Merry xmas to u all. even during the yultide, this thread is still very much alive, that is a plus to this forum. And beyond that, members now do visit themselves ahome which is quite encouraging. but most of the topics now have tilted towards Nilesat/Hotbird (big dishes), and this is making me to think of retirement so soon b/4 35yrs of age to my home in [Ibadan] where I can errect one. I have been in the east for close to 10 yrs after my service yr, infact I got married to an Ibo girl (and I have NO REGRET taking after my boss which at that time married from the east], I hope and pray for eniitan to come join us soon in that direction. mind U I have a 3yrs old beautiful daughter[money to marry for east to be small o].
In all, u have really made my day and I am using this medium to thank YOU all for this wonderful experience in my life time. Even though I have to be on duty by 26 & 27 Dec, this forum has made my Job more interesting and enriching.
More Grease to your elbow [whenever u are not puting on white]
Merci.
