BUTONEDAY:

@ South South people,
My discussion with Adewest this evening was positive. He will be coming to Warri to track far reaching birds such as Nilesat, Astra and Eurobird1. No date has been fixed yet for his visit. We will continue our discussion as soon as he returns back to his homeland.

ok since the visit is imminent, pls let him know that I will be needing the echolink+card or starsat +card which ever is available for that nilesat.thanks.

@ Sayso + ,
It looks like you are going to be a proactive guy - already making preparations for Adewest visit. But you will need to get in touch with Ade to see if he can source for a receiver for you.

@ south south people
All of us who will be present during his sojourn in Warri needs to be prepared as well. Items to be catalogued before his visit are:
1) Correct type/size of dish. Preferably 2.4 to 6.0m solid dish. Ensure dish is in good condition.
2) Good lnb. eg Fuji
3) Small 950 watt gen set to ensure continuous power supply
4) Echolink, Starsat receiver plus card to access non fta channels. Strong receiver still ok.
5) Carry out a survey of your compound. Chose a good site. May even install the mounting pole prior to the D-day.
6) Have on hand a portable dvd laptop player or a small tv.
This list is not exhaustive. The emphasis here is that we should be ready.
NB: Not sure if he will be able to attend to all. Also, we do not know how long he will be with us - One day, four days or one week?

@BUTONEDAY,
Preparation is key to success. Your list makes sense-any FTA member who has been installing
dishes for a while shouldn't have problems getting those at all.
About the timing, we need to know when and how long he is staying. That will enable us plan
our own schedules to match with his.

Let us involve SYLVIE11 also. It won't be good for adewest to come and go without his knowledge.

I even thought you were referring to 'menu-menu'. Well for stomach sake, I have engaged the services of a beautiful delta princess who has promised to be cooking banga soup and ohwo mixed with delicate spices for him through out his sojourn here grin grin grin

@sayso,
Why don't you get adewest's magic touch first? Even with the echolink or starsat, you may not be
able to enjoy them to the fullest if all your transponders are not coming out.

Abi you wan buy bucket keep dey wait for when rain go fall? grin

Talking about that delta princess, you wan take style "retain"  wink adewest for naija delta abi. grin

We shall see. Na only tracking of Nilesat we want make you use am for oo because other members of the forum may still want to employ his services.

@ jesu de, enitan 2002,
thanks for noting my absence, ive been on a very hectic project that took me to kaduna, kano, katsina, zamfara and sokoto states. Though that did not stop me from following the great contributions/successes on this thread everywhere i go.

@ all,
the speed/pace of this thread amazes me. I am honoured to be amongst such great collection of people. Thanks to everybody that makes this thread thick.

@ oga adewest,
shun sir, many gbosas for your feat in abeokuta/lagos. I want to report that i have changed my set up from eurostar 1.8 mtrs to that stronger dish, meeeeeen, i bow for that dish & i recommend it to anyone around this axis who plans to get 2.4 mtrs dish. Another issue is that of the digisat lnbf, i still am not using it because i discovered that the supermas lnbf 0.5 db noise figure give me higher signal quality, i need ur confirmation of this. Many thanks.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 6:56pm On Jan 28, 2009
@ all,
i dont really think someone can understand the whole problems a decoder can have. I bought an eurostar decoder from ola some months back, but i was aware of the decoder having some software related issues, so before i made my payment to him, i went to his place with my own eurostar for data transfer maybe the problem might be corrected and luckily for us it worked.
So, i took it down with me to the jungle for the installation in my house, and after some few days the problem started all over again. And since both Ola and I are matured enough, i didnt let him know of that problem, cos he's already asked me before the purchase if i will be able to use it, and i answered him yes.
So taking a look at the circuit in the motherboard, i know that the data transfer i did some weeks back Jan1st to be precise didnt really work, and if that should be done again, the problem will still be the same. I checked the power circuit board and all was well, the problem was that the decoder was just restarting.
So, all i did was just to remove the top cover and since we are in the harmattan period, the air is somehow dry and cold, and can you guys believe that almost 12 days going now, the decoder has never restarted for once unlike before that it cant stand being powered on for six straight hours.
So, i think maybe if the decoder has been incorporated with an inbuilt fan just like the computer, all would have been well.
So for those having similar problem and data transfer didnt hepl, just remove the damn cover and enjoy your FTA channels.

Tips on Satellite Signal Reception in Fringe (outside Satellite footprint ) Areas.

When trying to receive a weak signal outside the official coverage area, all factors in your "reception chain" must be considered, it will be the difference between getting a usable signal or none at all. Use the biggest dish you can, bigger really is better, this will dramaticly increase gain better than any other link in the chain.
Use a good LNB. Use a good quality cable, change this every few years, as this can become damaged by hot, cold or wet weather. Choose a good receiver, one with the lowest signal "Threshold", this is the level at which the receiver will give you a watchable picture. Read more Here.

The al-jazeerah sports party seems to be over, at least for now angry. That is why I'm scared about this abracadabra thing. It is sometimes cheaper to subscribe than to be putting money on different kinds of free to air, cracked or hacked solutions.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 8:14pm On Jan 28, 2009
@ tox,
silver nor gold i have here, this is the only way i can reach across to everyone of you at the moment. Maybe when you show up at my jungle this weekend as you said before, maybe you go boost me up a little bit in that aspect.

@ adrusa,
for one to be trully a satellite hobbyst, you must be ready for disappointments. If you aint ready, then you simply not one.
But as for me sha, i will still stay up to the FTA channels on nile, cos i have think of so many factors that discourage me from buying echo, but the least factor is that decoder should stop performing its magical wonder. I dont have any kids that will be watching while am away, neither have i any wife. And also the major factor is power supply. that alone is a big discouragement.

Got to go to bed now, cos my favorite dream comes up by 9pm. cheers, see ya tomorrow. You guys should have a wonderful night rest.

Adusra,u need not panic about the echolink or any other receiver in town ,if you do then may be you should count yourself out of the forum.Believe you me, i have more than 6 receiver now and am still going for echolink .it sound crazy to you right but to me i see it as fun.and i have learnt a lot on the receivers.Do you know about newcamd, cccam and others?I guess no ,untill you are able to waste so money you cant understand all this.on receiver alone i have spent more than 60k .each receiver come with so many lessons,if you are stick to strong all you will know is strong and if its echolink, tecnomate, technosat, nanoxx, linksat and others .each receiver comes with funny encryption methods.it takes time to understand all the receiver.ask Badaru and Adewest even olofofo ,they will tell you.

olofofo ,i go dey expect your call as soon as those parcel arrive ooooo.nothing mega.DSTV go bow as boys they go so.may be vision 2010 dstv go reduce her subscription package to 2500 per month all bourquetS oooooo.

You are correct the keys are DCW keys. However, on Technomate (and I think on Strong) receivers, DCW, CCW, CW (not cryptoworks) and biss keys are all entered in the biss menu and in the same way.

Edited

Even though they are incomplete, I would suggest you delete those keys above.

With regard to Astra: if/when next you locate it, you should store it and retain between 2 & 5 channels so that we can definitively identify what you got; that way we have it for reference purposes and also as a proof/record. Also, I should say that whichever of the Astras you received, there are a lot of free/FTA (some English-speaking) channels alongside the encoded ones.

I wonder if it is possible for you to use your positioner/motor to track the arc and see which sats you receive along the way.

Finally, what channels can you receive on Hotbird?

i think the best thing u or anybody in warri should do now is to arrange for the setup from adewest.
@ enitan
i think gpass is better than gtunnel cos thats what i ve been using but with opera 9.63.
@ mr gem
go to nokia website and look for pc suite suitable for ur phone, forget about that useless latest version afterall the latest pc suite is ovi suite but its only suitable for vista.
@ tox
why not ask enigma of the strongest tp in all the european birds,u never know something new might come up so stop depending on lyngsat since u ve enigma over there moreover,i still reserve my comment over u and olofofo secrecy in those installation.
