@Sirius users,
A new channel, Walf TV has appeared on the Globecast TP, 12605. Well, not an FTA channel. Encrypted - in Viaccess, I guess. Check their website at _http://www.walf.sn_. Also located on NSS 7 at 22.0°W.

@ecowas4all

I was able to pick some channels without the di-electric on 68.5. And I realised that the transponders work on both polarities.

@Salamander
Great. Like you said we keep stretching the limit, i finished researching the D2/13d formula and i am ready to gun down that Focal Point, when you and Sathob are ready lets meet at Abdulai's with tapes for measuring. Maybe we go with the Fuji? I wish the digisat would have been around. I'll be coming with all my LNBs too.

@pitodenz,
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I was thinking along those lines too.
I will talk to him directly to see how he can get the items for me like he
did for toxnaija. That way I can be sure that I'm getting the original stuff.

The can-do spirit is what keeps us ticking in this thread. I'm happy you eventually
succeeded.
Welcome on board.

@c1r2o3s4s5
if you need to open etv on 68.5 degree east, you will need strong decoder srt 4663x.  Your fstv decoder is conax embedded, it cant open encrypted channels except those lock with conax.  I also happen to subscribe to fstv when they are on, I still have their decoder and smart card with me. welcome to the world of FTA.

Bros, this your offer na wao. Are you sure this is the right forum to make this kind of advertisement?
I don't mean to be rude, but you should have checked the name of the thread properly before posting.
This is official FTA thread and not 'official DSTV addicts' thread. If we were so hot on dstv, none of us
would bother coming here.
Or, are you trying to rope us back into a web that most of us have escaped from? shocked

@ Ecowas4all,

goerge D,
Noted. I will get in touch with you. But I must warn you that there are starsat decoder in Nigeria that are cheaper than the one this guy is sending over.  It all bore down to risk.  I prefer the one all the way from abroad than the one in Nigeria.  Same goes with the person who needed the two I am working on now.  I said this so that some people will not think I am profiting from this deal. That is why i deleted my earlier post on this.

@ecowas4all

That's good. I will see my schedule for the weekend and will let you know
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by GeorgeD1(m): 10:47am On Jan 30, 2009
@twinstaiye,
I understand, but you shouldn't have deleted the post. Nobody is acusing you of profiteering.
Besides, anybody who knows it's worth will still buy, irrespective of whatever price the cloned version
is being sold here in nigeria.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 12:54pm On Jan 30, 2009
@ oga moderator, kindly get across to biggjoe to start a new thread but under lock and key for the continuation, and that will be the season 3 of this wonderful and most frequent thread on nairaland. I notice that, we cover nothing less than a page per day and since it has been said a thread should not exceed 100pages, so i guess within the next 21days, season 2 would have been over. i foresee a season 3 of greater findings than season 2. season 1 was mainly on small dishes and emphasis was on RDV, but season 2 was all on echo,abracadabra, a discovery of adewest and who knows what we stand to gain in season 3,maybe a transformation of enitan2002 to eniwest lol, watching whats going up in heaven? i cant just wait 4 d start of season 3 of dis wonderful series.

@enitan,
Season 3 so soon? Sounds appealing to me though. Maybe we will be shooting down
Astra 2D by then. Or could we try Galaxy 5? Star one C2? Echostar 3? Thaicom 5?
Impossible? No, never say never!

@Echolink users,
Please scan your receivers for these 2 new additions to the Showtime package-NAT GEO ADVENTURE and MBC+DRAMA  starting on Sunday.

Nat Geo Adventure is a bold new channel that unleashes the spirited adventurer in all of us.
The new channel builds on the success of Nat Geo Wild and will commence broadcasting on 1 February.
Whether you want to feel the rush of surfing a 20-foot wave or find inspiration from an unpredictable road trip, Nat Geo Adventure delivers compelling stories with impact. More than just a travel channel, Nat Geo Adventure chronicles people whose life-changing travel experiences have transformed how they see the world and themselves.

Starting February 1st, MBC+ DRAMA launches onto the SHOWTIME network. MBC+ DRAMA is a new 24-hour Arabic channel that offers a range of the best uninterrupted Arabic drama and Turkish series “First on TV” exclusively to Showtime customers.
Watch an impressive line-up of programs, up to 3 months before any other channel, which includes the new Arabic dubbed Turkish soap ‘Mirna Wa Khalil’ starring actor Kivanc Tatlitug, who has become an iconic male figure in the Middle East after the huge success of ‘Noor’ series in which he played the role of “Muhannad”.
It also features an exciting selection of first-run Arabic series including the second seasons of both ‘Ahl Al Gharam’ and ‘Aswar’ as well as the comedy series ‘Gary ya Hamouda’ which features the popular Saudi comedians Youssef Al Jarrah and Shereen Hattab.
MBC+ DRAMA will be automatically available to current Showtime Platinum & Premier customers and offered “a la carte” to other Showtime customers.

Sadly, GTV is no more

GTV is to be liquidated, according to a Press Statement currently posted on their website: www.gtv.tv

GTV PRESS STATEMENT ON LIQUIDATION

LONDON – 30 January 2009 - Gateway Broadcast Services announced today that its Board of Directors has unanimously approved a plan to liquidate the Company.

The current financial and global crisis has severely interrupted the company’s ability to secure further funding for the continued operation of the business.

The company has worked extensively with external advisors and all internal resources to investigate, evaluate and analyze strategic alternatives for the Company to further continue to operate. In determining to approve the Company's plan of Liquidation, the board and management carefully reviewed the advice and findings.

Gateway Broadcast Services, suppliers of the GTV service to subscribers across Africa has over the last 2 years invested a total of US$200 million and created jobs and competition in the 22 markets. The economic crisis that has emerged globally over the last few months has caused excessive demands on the business.

With immediate effect the service will be withdrawn.

“Increased instability in global markets interrupted our ability to secure funding on an acceptable timescale and have left us no choice but to cease operations,” said a company spokesman.

“We realise the negative impact this has had on our loyal customers, creditors and staff, all of who have believed in GTV and the revolution in pay TV it had created. We have tried every possible step to keep the company going but we are all the unfortunate victims of the current global economic crisis.”

Thank you.
