Biglittlelois: Who is talking about hard? We are talking about the process, making buns is stressful for natural kids hair, the process of combing tough hair, to tie the hair into two buns will also be a lot of pain for the kid, talk more of doing it everyday, so what is the difference with braids? Or dont you see how tight the edges is? Won't the child feel discomfort and pains at first? What has braiding got to do with having a chance in life Didn't you say the other girls hair was soft? Now I posted "hard" hair for you. You don't need to comb anything, just tie it. It's my go to style. Braiding is fine, just without extensions, that's all and no pulling |

Biglittlelois: First off, those kids hair looks soft, really soft, not all kids have that, hard stubborn hair needs to be braided cos it will be not be convenient to always do those styles everyday even for the child, and this is Nigeria, some schools won't allow such styles, either you cut it off or you braid it. Is this hair hard enough for you? I don't know about the braiding but Nigerians should stop putting attachments in their daughter hair before they even have a chance in life

Biglittlelois: I have to ask, are you Nigerian? For you to think all kids hair will look like that, especially pure African, cos the picture used looks like a child of mixed parents How about this? And yes, your kids hair can be as long as theirs too if only you would love it.

EMMNIG: I totally disagree with your u, plaiting of hair at tender age is good for a girl child, because it prepares the child for the challenges that is attached to the future especially pains during labour. In my culture it is assume that a female who cannot bear the pains of plaiting can't as well bear the pain of labour. Thanks Hahaaa..what a joker I don't even want to ask what culture you're from |

Ladycewhy: i disagree. Not all textures are substianable for daily bun maintenance. The stress of having to style everyday and make it into a bun is more compared to just making it into braids once in a week.So why not braid it once a week insead of going through the trouble every single day to style it? So you don't have to do alot for these styles:

eyinjuege: Yes, I am speaking for myself, as you have spoken for yourself. I don't have chemically treated 4C hair, and neither do my kids. So combing it is always a challenge no matter the amount of conditioner you put before washing, after washing- during steaming (not heated steaming but just put shower cap with your treatment over 30minutes) and even during styling. Its always painful, perhaps a bit exaggerated in some children because just touching the hair with your fingers, without even trying to braid it will make them start shouting. This isn't just my experience, butvalso for many mothers with female children. Comparing shaving a boy's hair to plaiting a girl's hair is a wrong comparison btw OP. You don't pull the scalp while shaving You're supposed to use hair moisturizer and leave in conditioner |

eyinjuege: Styling hair can hurt children, unless you are not going to comb it. No matter how much you moisturise the hair to soften it, it will hurt unless it's chemically treated hair. Don't forget children are not adults, and the pain you can bear combing your thick 4c hair will not be borne by the child. Perhaps from the age of 13 years when they know about no pain, no gain and the struggles associated with beauty before the pain of braiding or combing hair will men nothing. They might feel some discomfort yes, but they should never feel pain. Speak for yourself, I feel no pain when combing my hair. Pain shows you're doing something wrong. |

PeacenLove2: Some hair textures na die o. No comb fit run through them. If you like put all the grease inside jar. Seriously speaking some people have very soft scalp that cannot be put to the torture of daily styling. The best option is weave or braid to last a week or two cos even with low cut, running combs through them every day is still a menace, unless you want to he visiting barber weekly to make it very low.
Just make sure you find a good hairdresser who is used to making children's hair. Some hands have that magical touch, just do well to remind them to be easy on your LO. This is why you should never comb your hair when it's dry. Grease is not a moisturizer. Learn how to care for afro hair pls. |

doitforyou: I agree, but this isn’t true for all hair textures. For some hair textures it’s better the kid goes through the ‘pain’ once a week than a daily torture of styling. Styling hair should never hurt. You are wrong. |
