Parrots can be really amusing creatures to have in a home. If well
trained and looked after, they will live for a very, very long time. They
are brilliant at learning things quickly which of course, includes
mimicking most noises they hear. A few of the breeds are
exceptionally good talkers with the lovely African Grey parrot being
the best of them. Below are a few fun and interesting facts about
these delightful, often gregarious feathered friends:

There are around 353 different species of these lovely,
brightly feathered birds in the world

There are two families of parrots – the Cacatuidae
(cockatoos) and the Psittacidae (true parrots)

Parrots are known as zygodactylous which is a bird that
has the first and fourth toes pointing backwards whereas
the second and third point forward

» Grey parrots are also called “jakos” or African Greys
Parrots in the wild live on seeds, fruits, nuts, buds and lots
of other plants found in their natural habitats – they will
however, eat any meat they find in the rainforest too!

» Parrots are incredibly intelligent birds

»A parrot's natural habitat is tropical or subtropical – they
can be found in many rainforests of the world

»Parrots are popular pets because they are beautiful to look
at, they have gorgeous bright plumage and they are very
affectionate and sociable birds to keep in a home
environment

» The first parrot was imported to the UK in 1504 although
the Romans kept them way before this date

» In many species of parrots, the males and females are
identical – blood tests need to be done to tell them apart

Ours do not talk bold like human when she was alive but she whistle in human voice

You don't need to listen very well as a visitor before you could hear her talking about you.
There are some things she say just like human, for example.... mofe Jeun , in Yoruba which means, I want to eat.She call my name like a human, azeez and my brother tun de. When she had to communicate longer than just calling our names, she whistle but you can hear everything she is saying.

The only Interesting thing about parrot is when they talk.

The number of years they have lived and human interaction determine how clearly they can speak like human.

You are so right with your research , the true ones are known to talk,Yoruba call those one ayekoto, those ones that can not talk are called eru ayekoto in Yoruba meaning slave to the real ones.

...parrots do not make good pets for most people because of their natural wild instincts such as screaming and chewing. Although parrots can be very affectionate and cute when immature, they often become aggressive when mature (partly due to mishandling and poor training) and may bite, causing serious injury. For this reason, parrot rescue groups estimate that most parrots are surrendered and rehomed through at least five homes before reaching their permanent destinations or before dying prematurely from unintentional or intentional neglect and abuse. Sadly, the parrot's ability to mimic human words and their bright colors and beauty prompt impulse buying from unsuspecting consumers

Bros, u mean 30+3years? wow
The parrot is so perfect with speech to an extent that if u don't live with us you can hardly diffrenciate wen she speaks and when we speak ...like for instance if she hears a knock on the gate she responds by saying " good morning how now?" A first timer will be quick to respond to her.

If you don't like noise, do not get yourself a parrot.

I was the happiest when our parrot pack off, she eat every minute, talk from morning till night . Whenever she is hungry she whistle my name loud angry.

She eat cooked beans and soaked corn .

I was very happy when she was dead, she is very difficult to manage, you can never keep her shut. She is very violent , always ready to attack when it took long to bring her food.

It's two years now, I don't pray dad bring home another cause I swear I will kill it angry

wakacome: my elder sister used to keep one before, mehn the parrot make noise pass generator..grin and the parrot is a great stalker...anything u say when coming into the house the parrot will say exactly the same thing to my sister...but the parrot can be very wild when hungry,I was glad my sister took the parrot to her new home wen she got married...I don't like noise..grin ..

but one thing I like and am going to miss about the parrot is her sense of humor, the parrot will make u laugh and laugh, and when she mocks u na that one go make u laugh fall down sef..my sister got hers at 28k ...but trust me the money is worth it...parrots can offer u 5hrs comedy daily...grin that is if u have trained the parrot well..and make sure u get a young parrot that is less than 3 months...

5hrs? Even if it 2hrs I'll consider getting it one day o
