Music/RadioBreaking: The Headies 2014 Postponed by 247tops(op): 5:38pm On Oct 14, 2014
If you’re making plans to attend the 2014 Headies scheduled to hold next Saturday, 25th October now would be a good time to make other plans, as the highly anticipated award show has been shifted to December 14th.
Find the press statement released by the organizers below:

The 9th edition of urban music and hip culture awards, The Headies, will now hold on Sunday, December 14, 2014 as revealed by its organisers today. Said to be Nigeria’s most consistent and most credible honours platform, The Headies, was initially scheduled to hold on October 25, 2014.

Executive Producer, Ayo Animashaun says the event is making a return to the Eko Convention Centre this year by popular demand. ‘It’s another opportunity to give Nigerians a spectacular show, and we’re working round the clock to do what we’re best known for,’ he said.

There are twenty-one categories this year, with Phyno and KCEE leading the nominees’ list with five nominations each. Vying for the highly coveted Next Rated prize, which comes with a brand new car are Patoranking, Runtown, Orezi, Skales and Yemi Alade, in what might be undoubtedly the toughest category yet in the Headies history.

‘It promises to be the best pre-Christmas gift yet,’ Animashaun adds. ‘The artistes can’t wait, our nominees are excited; the entire industry is agog and we’re beyond excited.’…

CelebritiesAlicia Keys Speaks Up On Chibok Girls by 247tops(op): 12:21pm On Oct 12, 2014
American R & B singer and multiple Grammy Award winner, Alicia Keys, has charged all concerned not to give up in pressing for the release of the 219 Chibok school girls abducted by the Islamic extremist group, Boko Haram.
Keys said she had taken it upon herself to project the fate of the girls lamenting as unbelievable the fact that the girls have stayed in the captivity of the group for more than six months.

She spoke just as the Bring Back Our Girls campaign group in Abuja, last night, held a candle light vigil to mark the 180th day of the abduction of the girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
“Putting the spotlight on these girls is very, very important to me and I thought that it is my job to help shine the light on what is going on and show people: this is still happening and we must not forget and it is going on for six months,” she spoke in a television interview monitored on CNN.
“Six months and nobody is back and the girls are just there because of the need of education and they are abducted? So that is why we must say that we are not allowing this to dissipate, no, we are going to continue to say we are not standing for this, it is not okay,”

SportsPres. Jonathan Awards Over N300 Million To Athletes & Officials by 247tops(op): 3:14pm On Oct 09, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday splashed over N300 million on athletes and their officials who made the country proud at different international competitions in 2014.
Jonathan announced the cash rewards at a reception in honour of the 351 sports men and women at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among the athletes were those who participated in the African Senior Athletics Championships in Marrakech, Morocco, and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Others were participants in the African Youth Games in Gaborone, Botswana; the World Junior Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, and the 2014 FIFA Female U-20 Football World Cup in Montreal, Canada.
The list included athletes in the Partille World Handball Youth Championships, in Sweden; the World Power lifting championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the African Shooting Championship in Cairo, Egypt.
Also on the list were participants in the African Senior Wrestling Championship and the African Junior Wrestling Championship.
In a remark, Jonathan reassured Nigerians that his administration was determined to ensure that all sectors of national life were given the necessary motivation to achieve set goals.
Jonathan gave the assurance while hosting the country’s athletics and officials who emerged victorious at different international competitions in 2014.
He noted that the athletes’ achievements attested to the fact that with adequate preparation and motivation, Nigerians could surmount all obstacles to attain set goals.
According to him, government will continue to appreciate and reward excellence to serve as inspiration to those who are called to represent the country.
While savouring the achievements of the athletes, the president recalled that the journey to the present was not easy.
“Realising the significance of sports in national transformation, I took the decision to organise a retreat for the sports sector in 2012.
“This arose from my conviction that our outing at the 2012 Olympic Games did not represent full potential.
“Of course, if you look at the continent of Africa, we have the largest population; we are highest in terms of diversity and our economy is also the largest.
“In any competition in Africa, third position is not good enough for us because in all the other parameters we are never third.
“I am happy to note that things have progressively changed for the better since that retreat,” he said.
Jonathan commended that National Sports Commission for the “dedicated implementation” of the decisions taken at that retreat.
The president noted that the exploits of the athletes had gone a long way in further boosting the country’s image in the comity of nations.
He added that their zeal and dedication were remarkable and Nigeria’s flag was raised high to the delight and glory of all citizens.

The family of Mr. Isaac Utere has won the just concluded Maltina Dance All Season 8, automatically making them Nigeria's latest millioniares. The Family is said to have been unique and outstanding in all their dance steps and presentations, and they stood the test of time, beating three (3) other families to he throne in the grand finale. To those who know Mr. Isaac (and the Media Works Family), its not much of a surprise, it is only an added feather in the cap, and a long awaited victory. The family is known to be made up of talents, it is from their stock that Leriq (Burna Boy's Producer) is made of, same with multi talented multi instrumentalists and cinematographer-Eddie Isaacs, and now, leading the family to victory is Rave & Ray- extraordinary dancers. However, this reporter had met with Mr. Isaac sometime ago in Port Harcourt to ask him the motivation for his involvement in Nigeria's premiere family dance challenge and what he will do with the star prize money if his family wins. Mr. Isaac's response was short, precise and concise, he quickly highlighted the challenges before him and promotion of talents in the region; he mentioned the acquisition of a world class mobile event stage, set & equipments, he promised to discover and promote more talents even those who are not his biological children, and he has assured his people back at Akwa Ibom state that they will see him more often, as he will bring all his experience, resources and talents to contribute to the development of the entertainment industry in the state, just as he has been doing in Port Harcourt over the years. Mr. Isaac Utere is a father of many talents; he hails from Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom state, but resides in Port Harcourt where he and his family under the name Media Works have been doing exploits, affecting lives while earning several recognitions and awards. I came in contact with him in 2010, his personality shocked me, never have I seen a man from this part of the world who believes so much in talents and creativity, and ensures he helps his children (or any child that comes across him) to discover and nurture their talents to stardom.

“THE FURTHER A SOCIETY DRIFTS FROM THE TRUTH,
THE MORE IT WILL HATE THOSE THAT SPEAK IT”
George Orwell

Arise, O compatriots,
Let’s serve our Fatherland
With love and strength and faith!

How hard service must be in a decadent society like ours where words like credibility, honesty, honor, truthfulness, professionalism and integrity are fast becoming extinct and rapidly being replaced by corruption, greed sharpness, evil, materialistic lust, the list is endless! That’s how deep the rot is. However my story today no be dat yarn.

National awards were given a few days ago to deserving and not so deserving Nigerians. Honorary awards are meant to be given in recognition for exceptional achievements, integrity and distinction. So therefore, I hereby confer my own nationalist award of Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON to Mr. Nicholas Ibekwe.
I’m sure so many of you are wondering who that is and yes until a few days ago, I didn’t even know who he was.
He is a young journalist who was bold enough to chose a path of integrity, honestly and professionalism against all odds of being a minority and chose to speak for the truth.
Our minds have become so beclouded with the truth as being shaded that when we come in contact with it,we have a repelling approach to it and may even begin to see those who dare to be bold and speak out as over sabis or ITK’s ( I too know ).but really, should that come as a surprise to anybody In a society where morals are eroding, and people have succeeded in convincing themselves that the truth is no longer important.

Our minds are so closed because when we see the truth we can’t even trust it based on the fact that for so long, lies have been exchanged for the truth and now we are caught in-between what is really true and what are lies and thus, the confusion of what is right and what is wrong begins.

Mr. Nicholas Ibekwe chose to speak about the alleged bribe money that was given to them to write a ‘good’ story about the collapse of the synagogue building. There were 15 journalists there and 750 naira was shared. Only one person chose to cry foul! one person chose to standout, one person chose to speak the truth.

For a very long time now, the stone have been left unturned concerning what really goes on in this country. The rich and privileged do whatever they like and as it is the norm nothing happens, Because we all have been corrupted by weakness and fear. You hear of the issue for a while and like the wind, it simply blows away. For instance, till now, we are all confused about who’s responsible for the money smuggled into South-Africa, CAN President Oritsejafor or the Federal Government, we are yet to hear the truth. Like joke, the fight for #bringbackourgirls is gradually quieting. We never know what is really going on. Till date, the allegations against Major General Abubakar Mohammed has not been clarified but the soldiers involved have been sentenced to death, no digging, no probing. If they did, we never heard. When it becomes a crime to report freely criminal activities, then it becomes obvious that leadership is made up of criminals. QED.

What injustice! It takes a little mistake from a less privileged man and his life would be no good from thence forth. I would ask, was the law made only for the poor?

I would say it clearly that what journalist Nicholas Ibekwe did is something I haven’t seen in a million years just to exaggerate a bit. I have been silent about it but have been following the news surrounding the alleged bribe given by T.B Joshua to Journalists to shade the truth. Hummmmmmm

To me it came as a surprise that in this rot, there are a few who are still bold enough to do the right thing. Yeah, people are saying he is an opportunist but I would ask is it not better to be an opportunist with the right thing than an opportunist with the wrong thing? All the journalists who went there allegedly received the bribe were opportunist, as they chose 50,000 over the truth. Others are saying Nicholas Ibekwe declared self-righteousness, but I would say he declared the truth, is it because he was the first who thought of the right thing to do and came out with it?

As a celebrity and a journalist myself, I know how hard it is out there, we are all facing this thing, although everybody own get em level. I understand, just like I understand with my okada boys dem and poor people who need assistance, I do the same thing for the journalists like I do for them. I call mine ‘white envelopes’, not given to them as a bribe but as a fact that being in the game I understand the hustle. I don’t care what people say about me in the media so long as whatever you are saying is not based on assumptions but facts.

When journalism fails to report with truth and objectivity, abuse of professionalism ensues.
My most recent encounter of that with a publisher was the propaganda about my being gay. Many platforms carried it yes but why did I sue only National Mirror and Daily independent?
The answer is very simple. When you write a story that has not be adequately researched and backed with facts, you avoid debasing a person’s credibility and integrity.
The truth is a bitter pill that only very few people like myself fight for it and it is for this fight of truth that this matter has been taken to court. The next hearing will be presided on the 9th of October in Lagos state high court. I hope the world is watching because I want justice. And I go so shout if it is denied me.

I’ve never had any beef with T.B Joshua, in fact when I was PMAN president, he helped us financially with a few of our programs and I am grateful. But my focus is not him, my focus is that this young man did a right thing and should be rewarded. People do evil all the time and they are applauded for it, why is it so difficult to applaud an uncommon good. Many lives (about 115) were lost in that fall, who is going to account for it?

We’ve been kept in the dark for too long; this should come as a breath of fresh air. We need people who can tell us the true position of things as it is, not sugar coating and shading the truth from the populace.

If not for this my ‘brokage’ thing going on with me right now I would want to do more however the Charly Boy foundation is pledging 300,000 Naira for any journalist who shows remarkable intergrity in the discharge of his duties and can write and speak the truth no matter the odds.
I hope Nicholas Ibekwe is reading this, I want to meet you, I want to congratulate you, I would love to reward you for your boldness. You have not only been professional as a journalist, you have also be courageous. Your boldness must never go unnoticed or unrewarded. There is God.

If we make it a habit of not rewarding people who make an attempt to do good, then evil will reign supreme in this country and we all will hate ourselves.

The reality is that a small subset of the population have been working, conspiring, for years against the rest of us in an effort to completely own and control Nigeria and everyone in it. The shitty system and the country we have today is a direct result of this, the ultimate conspiracy. That’s why there are a lot of rifrafs in power, that and the fact that the majority of my people are ignorant of this conspiracy against them. Hummmmm there is Godooooo.

We should all learn to stand for the truth and the right thing even when everyone would be against us for doing the right thing. We are
already down as a people and as a nation, what else do we have to lose, we should stand for the truth and protect the right thing at all times…at least from now on.

Celebrities9ice Says He Plans To Quit Music For Politics by 247tops(op): 5:37pm On Sep 27, 2014
In an interview with Sun News, 9ice says he plans to quit music to concentrate fully on politics because he can't be singing at 35.WHAT HE SAID BELOW...
Yes, I want to leave music for politics. Next year January, I will be 35-years-old and I’m not praying to still be in music at that age. I am serious about politics now. If you listen to my music, you would notice that politics has been part of me; it’s in my blood. When I started initially, I talked about being your brother’s keeper, and that’s why I studied Law at Lagos State University before I dropped out to concentrate on my music career. I hate when things go wrong. When two or three people are having issues, I love to get there to settle their differences. I have passion for politics and it has always been in my blood." If you go fully into politics, most of your friends and fans will miss you? I will say they will love me more by the time they see the plans that I have for them.
I have so many plans on my mind. Imagine if the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was a politician, he will not just criticize the mistakes of our leaders but also correct them. Imagine if Wole Soyinka was to be the president of this nation, people like him are only preaching the truth and criticising the government but they are not ready to get into politics to make corrections. I am tired of preaching, I want to contribute my own quota for the sake of my people. We have graduates riding commercial motorcycles (okada), selling meat etc, their certificates are not being used but they are shouting that the government is not doing well. There can’t be any change if the youths don’t stand-up now to do something to help the country.
