This is absolute nonsense. The Deji of Akure has no right to dictate to Igbos how to conduct their cultural affairs. What business of his is it? He may have the right to decide who can wear a crown in his palace but he has no right to dethrone anybody. Does he he think he is dealing with his fellow Yorubas here? This is laughable

It's a welcome development, Igbo do behave as if they are the only one in town, what's the meaning of Ndi igbo title in another man land?

You don't picka fight with the igbos and win. Ask northern nigeria how they're looking now, ask the oba that wished them death by lagoon how his people are dying in the lagoon(they say am insensitive by saying this but what da hell..)

If this news is true, then the oba and his people have difficult days ahead. Am not bragging, am just stating the obvious

Before you talk, remember what led to this..the dressing of an Igbo that honored his invitation. After Wch the Igbo apologized after being humiliated..it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong, it takes a bigger man to apologize even when he's right
lmao.... Typical Igbo chest beating coward ...

You picked a fight with northerners you lost woefully which made them rule you for for more than 40years and still counting...

You picked fight in Lagos giving ultimatums and shit, you still lost, your beggars are still rotting away in eroded land of alaibo

You picked fight in akure, you got flogged silly like a mad dog ... Despite your bbeg for forgiveness yesterday, you r sstill being banned today..

Now you r still making noise and beating your chest... Same thing that keeps getting you into trouble ... Dem swear for Igbo people?

If you are too big to respect other people's tradition, stay within the ambit of your own tradition. Stay in your place and avoid contacts with others. This is the world's order. The saying goes: "when you go to Rome, better behave like the Romans" to avoid being kicked out. Why continue to stay in another man's land when you have no respect for his tradition. These people should return to where the came from.

While I agree that traditional stool has to be revered, it's absolutely immature for the Oba of Akure to issue this kind of condition aimed not to restore peace but to humiliate. If the Nigeria state folds its hand and allow this to take root let it be known that the ripple effect can transcend beyond the Southwest. The traditional authority across the geopolitical zone has no absolute power to close down the economic activity of lawful citizens of this country as long as the constitution remains.

It's easy to see it as a victory for the Oba but it could turn out to be a case of pennywise and pound foolish. There are better ways to restore peace and sanity in Akure rather than act like an absolute dictator. This can be viewed like a perfect case of inferiority complex, why should an Oba feel threatened because another dressed like a king? Will Queen Elizabeth feel threatened if another man dresses like a king in London.

the mistake is the Deji of Akure's fault. why should there be ohaneze ndi Igbo in Akure. if they want to live there they need to respect other people's culture.

I however support the disciplinary act on the so called, ohaneze.

Talk about cultural affairs when you get to the east. When you find your self in rome, please respect yourself by behaving like a Roman.

Yoruba land is not no man's land.

Before u agitate for Biafra, please go to the North East to see what is happening there. If you are ready to have that or more on your land, then continue with your Biafool agitation.

A word is enough for the few wise people.

Ultimatum tribe. They always set ultimatum.

They claimed they are more then Yorubas in Lagos. They own Lagos...They will rule Lagos blahblah....

I love the way Yorubas give it to them in the last election. They were put to shame.

I think ibos should learn to respect their host.... No region in nigeria accommodates many Ibos refugees like odualand but the ibos still pay our hospitable nature with disrespect. The ibos constantly insult our obas, call our land a no mans land and all sorts of unprintable names.

One Nigeria doesn't mean you should disrespect other people's culture and what they hold so sacred to them.

IBOS SHOULD RESPECT YORUBAS, THAT'S WHAT WE ARE SAYING.

bro as much as I respect every tribe in the country, I would ask one question, are the yoruba community heads called Baale in ibo land. ..??
That which u cannot to yourself do not do it to another.... SW n SE are in the same country but do not go to another man's house to insult his family... irrespective of what ever may have provoked the situation... takes the bigger man to overlook situations just so peace can reign...
If it can't happen in igboland then it shouldn't happen in Yoruba land.

Why are these people so rude and disrespectful to their host communities. The more disrespectful they get, the more enmity they create for themselves.

They exhibited same in SA, they were dealt with; it will be the turn of Lagos to deal with these rude and disrespecfful Igbos. Oba Akiolu and Iyaloja of Lagos, action needed ASAP..

You sounded disgusting to my hearing. Do u people allow any other tribe to dominate d way u guys do in other tribes land. Kudos to Deji of Akure.

I may not be based in Akure, but as far as I'm concerned as an Igbo man, the constitution is greater than the Deji. The constitution grants me the right to treat Akure as if it was Enugu. In other words, I can elect an 'Eze' and conduct any cultural event I want. The Deji is only a Monarch in his palace. Outside his Palace, he is just another Nigerian. I'm not bound by any law to respect him. So I encourage my fellow Igbos to forget about that Yoruba king and enjoy the freedom accorded to them by the constitution to conduct the traditional affairs anywhere in Nigeria

Good move, just the beginning.

This rule is required across Yoruba land.

It will definitely happen, even if in another form.

They have stretched the tolerance level beyond limit. Lagos, Akure and very soon in another town. Forgetting that before them the Yorubas were surviving and also trades.

Proudly Osoomalo.

I think its high time the igbos review those traditional title especially Eze ndi igbo away from the southeast region and its environs. Many igbos who have not traveled home for long, who may not have really understood fully the traditions of igbos. Who may have been banned from their home town in igbo land for one wicked act or the other or who may, for thier selfish and political interests parade themselves as eze ndi igbo should be disallowed though politely. As an igbo man, I haven't heard of Oba of the Yorubas in Onitsha or Emir of the Hausas in Owerri. So why only the Igbos. We should hold our tradition to high esteem. Eze ndi igbos should be limited to the southeast regions. Moreover most towns from the igbo land have their Ezes in thier hometowns and thier union committee representing them in any part of the country they are. Igbos also have their mother union that could also represent them better so this eze ndi igbo in other part of the country is needless.
